The Chosen of Tengri(Fate Stay Night)

Chapter 22: Chapter 22: The Weight of the Grail War

The ceremonial sword fragment rested on the workshop table, its surface dull and lifeless now that the summoning was complete. Shirou sat nearby, his head in his hands, as Saber stood before him, her arms crossed.

"So," Shirou said finally, his voice heavy with exhaustion, "you're telling me this 'Holy Grail War' is some kind of battle royale?"

"Yes," Saber replied, her tone firm. "Seven Masters, each summoning one Servant to fight on their behalf. The last one standing earns the right to claim the Holy Grail."

Shirou frowned, lifting his head to meet her gaze. "And this Grail... what does it do?"

"It grants the victor any wish they desire," Saber said simply. "It is an artifact of immense power, one capable of reshaping the very fabric of reality."

Shirou's chest tightened. The idea of such a powerful artifact falling into the wrong hands sent a chill down his spine.

"And I'm... supposed to fight for this?" Shirou asked, his voice wavering. "I didn't even know magic existed until a few hours ago!"

Saber's expression hardened. "Whether you intended to join or not is irrelevant. You are a Master now. That is a fact, and you cannot run from it."

Shirou's hands clenched into fists. "But I don't know how to fight! I can't even use magic properly. How am I supposed to survive this?"

"By learning," Saber said bluntly. "And quickly."

Her words stung, but Shirou couldn't argue with them. His mind raced, trying to piece together the fragments of information Saber had given him. Masters, Servants, the Grail—it all felt too big, too impossible.

"What happens if I lose?" Shirou asked quietly.

Saber's gaze softened slightly. "If you lose, you die. Either your Servant will be defeated, or your enemies will target you directly. That is the nature of the war."

Shirou swallowed hard, his stomach twisting.

"But know this," Saber continued, her voice firm. "As long as I stand, I will protect you. That is my duty as your Servant."

Her words should have been comforting, but they only deepened the weight pressing down on Shirou's chest.

Saber stepped closer, her piercing green eyes meeting Shirou's. "If you wish to survive, you must act. Resolve yourself now, Master. Hesitation will only lead to death."

Shirou looked away, his fists trembling. He wanted to argue, to deny the situation entirely, but deep down, he knew she was right.

"I'll... figure it out," Shirou said finally, his voice quiet but resolute.

Saber nodded, stepping back. "See that you do. This war will not wait for you to be ready."
