Chapter 21: Where Is The Guild Master?
Here's the corrected "Well done!"
Makarov snapped his fingers, a satisfied expression on his face.
The reason why a regular guild remains as such is because it abides by laws and regulations. In contrast, dark guilds operate without rules, accepting any task—no matter how heinous—such as assassinations.
The rewards for these dark commissions are extremely high, and many regular guilds succumb to the temptation, degenerating into dark guilds over time.
But killing a magician's guild outright was an unforgivable act.
If this situation wasn't handled properly, the reputation of the local guilds would suffer greatly.
This could discourage aspiring mages from joining regular guilds and further embolden dark guilds to act recklessly.
Yushi still didn't realize how much chaos his actions had caused in the dark underworld. The elimination of so many dark guilds had thrown the remaining ones into panic.
"Thank you for your hard work again this time," Makarov said to Yushi.
"What's so hard about this? It's no different from any other mission," Yushi replied casually.
Makarov shook his head. "It's not the same at all."
Suddenly, a child's voice interrupted their conversation:
"Is my father back yet?"
Yushi turned to see a five- or six-year-old child standing in front of him.
It was Romeo, Macao's son. Macao often stayed busy with missions, which had led to his wife leaving him and Romeo behind.
Since then, Macao had taken on smaller, safer tasks close to home so he could take care of his son. Even for half-day tasks, he would drop Romeo off at the guild and ask its members to watch over him.
As a result, most of the guild members were familiar with Romeo.
When Makarov saw Romeo, he said, "Stop causing trouble, Romeo. You're the son of a mage. Trust your father and wait at home for him to return."
"But... he said he'd be back in three days, and it's already been a week..."
"Macao went to Mt. Hakobe to take care of Vulcan. That's not far from here. You don't need to worry so much!"
"I'm really worried about him!!"
Makarov scolded him sternly: "Stop making a fuss!! Your father is a mage!! This guild doesn't need others cleaning up a mage's mess!! Go home and drink some milk!!"
"You're mean!!"
Romeo jumped up and punched Makarov in the face before running out crying.
"So heartless," Lucy muttered, unable to stop herself from commenting on the scene.
Mira smiled softly and said, "Even so, the guild master is actually very worried."
"What mission did Macao take?" Yushi asked.
"He went to Mt. Hakobe to defeat the Vulcans. I don't know what made him decide to take on that mission alone," Mira explained.
"Bang!" Natsu slammed a commission paper back into the board and stormed out with his luggage.
Nab, who always lingered near the board, said, "Hey! Natsu! You're going to break the commission board!"
"And so what?" Natsu snapped.
"Guild master… there's something wrong with that boy Natsu!" Nab called out.
Makarov chuckled. "That kid probably wants to save Macao, but he's still immature."
"That might hurt Macao's pride," Mira pointed out.
The corners of Makarov's lips curled into a grin. "The path you want to take is yours to choose. Let him go."
Yushi frowned. He couldn't remember this part of the story clearly, but knowing Natsu and Macao would become two of Fairy Tail's veteran members in the future reassured him.
That evening, Yushi returned to his apartment.
"System, open my template," he instructed.
"Understood!"
A transparent system interface appeared in front of him.
[Dimensional Template System]
[Host: Yushi]
[Age: 19]
[Template: Ulquiorra Cifer]
[Zanpakutō: Black-Winged Demon]
[Fusion: 71.34%]
[Skills: …]
There were two ways to increase the fusion percentage:
1. Using soul-eating techniques to devour souls.
2. Training and improving through hard work.
In the first two years, Yushi had seen rapid progress, with his fusion percentage rising quickly. However, once it reached 50%, the speed slowed dramatically.
Previously, devouring one ordinary soul increased his fusion by 0.01%. Now, it took ten.
The process had become ten times slower.
Fortunately, consuming the souls of powerful mages provided a greater boost. The stronger the mage, the greater the fusion increase.
Despite this, Yushi found that even after eliminating over twenty dark guilds and practicing tirelessly, his fusion progress had barely climbed above 70%.
"The story is starting to unfold. I hope I'm not too late."
The next evening, Natsu returned to the guild with an injured Macao in tow. Seeing that Macao was alive, many members sighed in relief.
Naturally, some good-natured teasing followed, but the guild was soon filled with laughter.
Over the next three days, Yushi spent his time in the guild, chatting with Mira to strengthen their bond and helping out where he could.
At the job request board, Lucy scanned the available commissions.
"Hmm… Searching for a magic bracelet, removing a curse from a cane, divining love through astrology?! Banishing demons from a volcano?!"
"There are so many different types of commissions!"
"If there's anything you want to do, just let me know. The guild master isn't here today," Yushi said, casually sitting where Makarov normally would.
Lucy blinked in surprise at his words. "Wait, really? Where is the guild master?"
