Anger…pure unrestrained—Anger that is what I felt in this moment after this incompetent cunt of a cousin dared to insult me and my mother. Even if I don't know her, she is my mother!

I lashed out and am I ashamed of it? Fuck no, but I would not be humiliated by Lancel of all people even if He was lord Kevan's son.

Staring at the cunt who was my cousin seeing his bleeding lip and his clothes dirtied by food and water was a sight I wouldn't believe if someone had told me, and I would have laughed if it wasn't for the seriousness Of the King's tone, which was frightening.

"Stop this in the name of your king!" King Robert bellowed. His voice sounds like thunder reverberating throughout the room.

My eyes left the form of Lancel, knowing he wouldn't do anything in front of the King, now staring at his grace, who was accompanied by the Queen and her children and my Father.

The crowd that had formed—something that I had missed due to my rage—started to murmur. I even heard someone saying I was about to lose my hand for striking a 'trueborn Lannister not that I cared.

"Your grace-" Lancel said but was swiftly silenced by the King, "Quiet boy! I sent you for wine and what did you do? Get into a fight while we are breaking our fast! And you—" he said now addressing me,

"What is the meaning of this, why did you strike him?" Robert asked. The king wasn't ignorant seeing as the whispers of the crowd would have given him the perpetrator who struck Lancel-aka me.

"Your grace, I-" I started but was cut off by Her Grace—The Queen, "How dare you strike my cousin bastard; I will have your head for this!" She said with venom and contempt for me.

Seeing the look in her eyes unnerved me; it was natural as she had the power to have me killed, especially with me striking Lancel, but luckily, my father stepped in.

"My queen, forgive me for speaking out of turn, but I won't allow anyone to take my son's head, and anyone who tried would have to go through me." My father said which took me by surprise—was he speaking that way to the queen?

My surprise was shared with King Robert and Queen Cersei who were surprised at my father's outburst and decision to stick by me before replying sharply.

"Even though your my brother Ser Jamie remembers your station," she remarked, then continued, "Fine, I won't have his head, but the hand that struck Lancel, Ser Meryn-" she called out to the Kingsguard member.

The knight in question would have started to move toward me causing me to step back but my father blocked the knight's way causing him to say,

"Move Kingslayer," He said causing my father's eyes to narrow not saying anything still blocking Ser Meryn who would have moved his hand to grab his sword but-

"ENOUGH!" King Robert said, shushing the crowd and stopping Ser Meryn. Nobody is losing their head or hand until I hear what happened now. Speak, boy!" He said to me

"Yes, your grace. I was sitting here breaking my fast and making conversation with my uncle until my cousin Lancel came over and insulted not only me but Lord Tyrion and Father. He even went to call my mother a whore." I recited to the king everything that happened.

"And? Go on to the fight." He asked calmly which was rare. "After that, I struck him with my hand, your grace," I replied, causing Lancel to now speak up, "Lies! It's all Lies from this bastard, your grace." He replied

Even now, when faced with judgment, this craven dares tell lies, and he dares call me a bastard when I'm more of a Lion than he will ever be!

"Imp, can you verify this?" He said now referring to my favorite uncle. "Yes, your grace, it is as Daemon says-" but Lancel then interrupted, "Your grace, this is a plot between the Imp and the Bastard. The whole keep is aware of their close relationship; I was minding my business when this low-born cunt struck me," he said with venom glaring at me.

I glared at him hatefully as everything in my bones was telling me to go over there and strike him, but luckily, my father moved over to me and squeezed my shoulder, shaking his head, already knowing of my temperament.

"Father, I don't believe Cousin Lancel has any reason to lie." Joffrey unexpectedly said, causing his mother to smile and nod approvingly.

"Father, I don't believe Cousin Daemon to lie; he doesn't bother anyone when not provoked," Myrcella said, coming to my aid. I silently thanked her.

Her mother and brother stared at her in shock and disapproval, probably not expecting her to defend me now, causing Robert to contemplate, but the queen quickly interjected.

"Dear husband, judgment must befall today. I won't accept this…bastard go away scott-free for striking my cousin." She said,

The Queen's statement, even though expected, still hurts as she doesn't even take into consideration that I'm her nephew.

But then…something crossed my mind—both I and Lancel are squires! I then hid a smile before saying-

"Your grace, if I may—me and Lancel are both squires of King's Landing. I propose that we solve this matter in a duel. If I lose, I take any punishment her grace sees fit, and if I win, I'm absolved from any punishment." Daemon said, his voice causing everyone to widen their eyes in surprise.

"That seems a fair proposition, your grace," Jamie replied, which was then backed up by Tyrion, "This Is plausible, your grace, as they are squires, and who doesn't love a good fight after breaking their fast?" Tyrion said, playing on Roberts's love for battle.

"Fine, I'll allow it!" King Robert said, shocking everyone that he agreed to this decision.

"What! Your grace, what farce is this-" Lancel tried to interrupt but was swiftly interrupted by Daemon.

"Are you too craven to face me in a duel Lancel?" Daemon declared

The whole room seemed to stare at Lancel, who was staring angrily at Daemon for calling him 'Craven', which was the same as calling him a coward so that if he didn't accept, he would lose all his reputation, which would then disgrace his father's own.

"...I accept your grace," Lancel said begrudgingly. "I'll make sure you regret this Daemon!" he said angrily before leaving the room.

"I hope you don't disappoint me, boy- now fuck off all of ya. I still haven't finished feasting!" He said before leaving.

The Queen and her son stare at him with venom before leaving with Ser Meryn, while Myrcella winks at him before leaving, causing him to smile before looking at his father.

"Thank you for standing by me father, uncle." He said, looking at them, causing Tyrion to smirk and Jamie to rub his forehead while also smiling.

"I am your father, Daemon. I'll always stand by you. Now, you have a duel to prepare for, and hopefully, you remember everything I taught you, or else-" He was cut off by Tyrion, "You worry too much, brother- Daemon here is not losing too after you trained him!" he said in the utmost confidence.

"Thank you for your confidence uncle. But as you know, I must prepare, so see you guys after the duel." Daemon said moving off to his quarters to prepare.

A crowd was gathered, most containing ladies of the court, the squires, and Knights with the Hand of the king present alongside the Royal Family.

The news about Daemon and Lancel's Duel would have already reached a fair bit of ears in the Red Keep, with most being aware of the Duel, which caused the king to sit down and watch.

"This should be interesting. It's time to see if the Kingslayer's boy is anything similar to his father at his age." King Robert said to his hand.

"Your grace, we should be discussing things of most importance, such as the coffers of the crown, not sitting here and watching the squabble between squires!" Jon Arryn said with a serious tone.

"Bahh, who cares? That's why you're my hand, you deal with it. You're the one who put me on that goddamn chair when I never wanted it to begin with." Robert said with disinterest.

Jon sighed as the king had been like this since Lyanna died—whoring and drinking out his days to escape the duties that were required of him as King. It's been months since Robert had attended a meeting in the small council and wasn't aware that the coffers were getting dangerously low.

Again, he sighed. He had too much on his plate for a man of his age and couldn't consider retiring because of the numerous snakes in Kings Landing who would do anything to see the realm plunge into chaos by taking over his position.

So with this in mind, the Hand just keeps to himself while staring at the soon-to-be Duel between squires.

Daemon was seen tightening the forearm guard on his left hand with most of his body already wearing his iconic black armor with a black lion symbol to honor his lineage.

'Finally, I have an opportunity to show myself in front of many Knights and even the king himself.' He said internally.

Although this was a duel to make a judgment, he doesn't take it as that, with him being pretty damn sure that he could defeat Lancel as no one his age is on par with him, at least in King's Landing.

'Lancel is only a stepping stone.' Daemon said while looking around to look for Goldfyre, his weapon that was given to him on his 13th Name day, unaware that his father had entered his quarters in the training yard.

"Father? Words of encouragement before the Duel?" Daemon asked, causing Jamie to chuckle. "You don't need it for your opponent. Just remember to use this opportunity to establish yourself to make people take you seriously." Jamie remarked.

"I know I don't want to seem incompetent after suggesting this. I would hang myself if I lose." Daemon said, causing Jamie to move over to him and tap his chest plate with Goldfyre.

"No matter what anyone says, Daemon—you are a Lion and my son, Even though we don't share the same last name, you are everything I am and more, so go out there and show them, alright?" Jamie said, causing Daemon to smile and nod before taking his weapon and leaving.

Walking onto the training field, my eyes stared at the ladies, lords, and Knights—' Time to see that I'm not just the son of the Kingslayer.' I said to myself.

Faced with the weight of what was at stake I was relatively relaxed but was tense as one mistake would see me dead at the Queen's command and the thought made me scoff.

"As if I would lose to this incompetent 'lion'," I said to myself as I stared at my cousin who was on the other side of the field wearing Knight's armor in red and gold of House Lannister and a shield on his left hand with a sword on his right.

I, unlike him, didn't go with a shield as I was confident in my ability to use a sword, and a shield would just wear me down.

Seeing my cousin approach I couldn't help but taunt him trying to rile him up so he can make this interesting when I beat him.

"Honestly I thought you would be too craven to show up Lancel," I said. Lancel's eyes narrowed. I could see him getting angry before he replied– "And give up a chance to have you hanged when I win? Not a chance bastard." He replied, causing me to smile before retreating.

"GET ON WITH IT BEFORE I PISS MYSELF!" I heard the King say, causing me to smile, let's get on with this.

Tightly gripping my sword I move towards Lancel who foolishly decided to come rushing in and swinging his sword diagonally at my shoulder—fool.

Quickly raising Goldfyre I met the attack with a parry, knocking the sword to the side and pivoting to the left, raising Goldfyre for a downward swing at his shoulder.

Luckily for him, he brought a shield and blocked my attack—causing me to withdraw and attack again with a vertical slash upon his head which was blocked again by his shield with him countering with a stab towards my chest.

But I am no amateur and would quickly raise my sword to meet the stab causing it to interlock with the blade. Remembering my father's teaching I would alter my blade upward causing the force of his stab attempt to follow.

Before I could capitalize, Lancel seemed to remember shields can be used in close quarters swinging it at my head causing me to pivot and disengage.

"Lucky bastard," I heard him say.

I smiled at him if only he knew he was about to get disarmed and was only saved by using his shield. Lancel then went on the offensive.

He swung his blade at my face causing me to block and move to the right then attacked him with a stab causing him to parry and then attack with another horizontal swing which made me step backwards before swinging diagonally meeting his steel.

Lancel was decent, no denying it but it was time to play some offense—using my Speed to my advantage I feinted a swing to his right causing him to position his shield wrongly before stepping forward and striking his right shoulder with the sword.

I heard a wince which was natural as I didn't hold back one bit when I struck—following up my attack pivoting to the right and swinging Goldfyre horizontally at his hip making him block hurriedly making him off balance.

"Come On cousin, this is getting easy," I said taunting him and watching him scream out before attacking me again with a wild swing causing me to parry and swing at his side hitting him full force and causing him to yelp in pain.

Lancel seemed to push through and raised his sword before swinging it down vertically and not deciding to meet it head-on. I pivoted to the right before swinging again at his head which he blocked with his shield.

I decided not to give him the chance to attack again I started to attack with power and finesse at his shield pushing him back until his shield broke with the force sending him to the ground.

"Yield!" I said but Lancel replied, "Not to you bastard!" and at this I narrowed my eyes watching him get up and disregard the shield.

Now being left with only his sword this fight was decided as his only saving grace was his shield which bailed him out so many times.

We both attacked each other causing Steel to kiss Steel but for those who are knights—warriors they could tell Lancel was losing ground and was on the back foot.

Lancel then swung again at my shoulder and deciding it was enough I parried his blade and moved quickly and swung mine at his neck before stopping indicating he had lost.

"Yield!" I say with a more finality in my voice.

"...I Yield.." Lancel said begrudgingly, dropping his weapon.
