The Backbender (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

A concentrated beam of fire pierced through a frozen dummy floating in the air. The Ice was as hard as steel and exploded into pieces from the impact, turning red from the heat.

"It's enough for today. I have my martial arts to level up as well." Kanuk sighed as he felt he had too much on his hands lately. He has 4 elements to train and martial arts, which he plans to evolve into two different skills and then fuse.

It's a lot... So Kanuk decided on an action. To reduce his workload until he at least was satisfied with his level.

He plans to train in Fire Bending, Earth Bending, and Martial Arts skills for the rest of the time. This way, he can progress in his skills faster while having fewer worries.

Just as Kanuk was about to start his martial arts training. His Current sense suddenly acted up. Kanuk could sense a village with chaos erupting.

Boom!

Kanuk's eyes zoomed out, and he looked down below, trying to find out what caused it. Upon zooming his vision out, Kanuk watched with surprise as a panda seemingly teleported behind a man and kidnapped him.

"kanuk! I sense a disturbance in the force!" KIanuk watched as Fei suddenly sat up with shocked eyes. Her pupils flashed white for a split second, almost like she entered the avatar state.

'Looks like that ring is helping her. Good.' Kanuk smiled before he leaned down next to Appa's ears, and he smiled as he whispered.

"Yip Yip..."

Appa mooed as he started flying down towards the village. Knuk zooms into the distance and sees a dark-blackened and burnt forest near the town.

"Oh my god... What could have done such destruction?" Katara looks at the dark-burnt forest below Appa and questions with a bit of sadness.

Fei looks around and starts to feel like something is below them. She looks around and catches a gigantic panda inside the forest, seemingly weeping with sadness.

"He is sad... His emotions are so hurt." Fei felt the emotions rolling off from the panda, and she felt sympathy fill her chest as she watched. Due to the ring, she felt his emotions.

Appa landed on the ground a few hundred meters from the panda. Meanwhile, in the town...

"Someone was kidnapped again!"

"The vengeful spirit is here again!"

The villagers panicked as they saw the destroyed building. Only a monster capable of great destruction could do that.

In the burnt forest, a massive Panda suddenly paused as he felt a Chi many times greater than any bender he saw.

Growl*

Turning around, Hei Bai vanished, only to pop out from behind a stunned Kanuk. Twirling around, Kanuk barely had time to put his guard up.

Boom!

"Ugh!" For the second time in his life. Kanuk felt his powerful body being dwarfed by another beast. Blood leaked out of his mouth as he was sent flying from the paw of the panda.

Boom!

Tree after tree, he crashed through. He finally stopped after flying for 30 meters, breaking a dozen burnt trees in his way. With a final crash, the earth under Kanuk was dug into a trench as he landed on his back.

Boom!

Instantly, Kanuk enhanced his body with chi and used his martial arts to increase his damage and durability by 30%. The ground collapsed under him as he broke the sound barrier.

Boom!

Kanuk smirked, thinking his fist would land, but instead, he merely hit the air as Hei Bai vanished. Teleporting behind Kanuk, Hei Bai slammed into his back.

Kanuk was sent ragdolling on the ground before Hei Bai caught up and kicked him like a football. Kanuk felt his ribs crack from the force of the hit.

"Argh!" Kanuk screamed as he twirled around like a dance. The surroundings erupted in a sharp hurricane as the ground and trees were torn open.

Hei Bai vanished, entering the spirit realm and phasing through the attack. Kanuk panted as he got up from the floor. His upper clothes were destroyed, leaving him in tattered baggy pants.

"Damn... You are strong. I feel like I will have to go all out for this." Kanuk said as he looked at Hei Bai. He narrowed his eyes, focusing on Hei Bai.

"Huh?..." Hei Bai vanished from his vision, and his current sense felt him appear out of thin air behind him. Turning around, he created an ice shield along with an air shield.

Boom!

Crack!

The air and ice shield shattered, and Kanuk was sent flying dozens of meters as he crashed into the ground. Katara and Fei opened their eyes wide before they ran towards Hei Bai.

Boom!

A deadly wind blade and a water whip hit Hei Bai, but it was useless as he phased through the attacks like they were nothing to him.

Growl*

Turning around, Hei Bai stared at Katara and Fei, his sharp teeth showing. Katara and Fei were not scared by this. Instead, they felt anger as they looked at the panda.

"Piercing Blood!" 

Hei Bai was momentarily distracted. With quickness, he dodged the water beam. With a loud sound, the water beam dug the floor into a trench, stretching for dozens of meters at a depth of 8 meters.

"Fire Fist!" Hei Bai looked back as a fist 10 meters in size flew towards him. The trees beside it caught fire, and Hei Bai suddenly froze at the sight.

Growl*

"Huh! This feeling... It's like when the Ice Stalker almost killed me..." Kanuk suddenly felt a shiver go down his back as he waited for a notice that Hei Bai escaped his attack.

Among the burning trees, the ground lit up in flames as the fist exploded. A shadow in the flickers of fire started growing at a massive size.

Crack*

Bang*

Growl*

Boom!

Kanuk was thrown back as the shadow as tall as a building teleported in front of him before striking him with 4 arms. The air exploded as Kanuk flew away at the speed of sound.

"Kanuk!" Fei and Katara watched in shock as a monster stood in Kanuk's place. It was massive, with 4 arms and brought glowing eyes. His body emanated bloodthirst as he looked at the burning trees and ground.

Cough!

Splatter*

A hundred meters away. Kanuk lay inside a crater, his chest sunken in as he watched the clouds in the sky. He felt a burning pain in his chest as he used his chi to heal.

Crack*

The bones and ligaments snapped back into place, fixing Kanuk into tip-top shape. Hei Bai growled like a mad beast as he watched Kanuk like a predator. 

Kanuk struggled to stand up as he looked at Hei Bai. He clenched his fist, and with a sharp light in his eyes, for the first time. His eyes were not cold and scared.

Excitement.

Kanuk felt his blood boil as he stared at his monstrous opponent. He smiled, blood leaking down his head and mouth. He clenched his fists, and he grinned.

Boom!

The ground under Kanuk cracked as his Chi reserves, already at full capacity, burst out with full force. His chi materialised around his body as a swirl of blue light.

Kanuk reinforced his whole body with chi and extended his current sense to full power. Activating his martial arts skills. Kanuk's body became even more powerful.

"LET'S FIGHT!!" Kahuku screamed as he used his full strength to sprint towards Hei Bai. The ground cracked and exploded as he left behind a trench.

Hei Bai looked at Kanuk and growled in anger as he watched the human run towards him like a maniac, a grin splitting his face.

Growl!
