The Asshai's Bloodmage

Chapter 102: Accident part 3

Rafael's little red crow, nicknamed Carasu, did his best to stop his master from falling so high. His small but very strong body greatly lessened the impact of the fall from over 15 floors.

After the fall, even though he was exhausted, he would not have any rest. As soon as Rafael's body fell unconscious into the elevator shaft on the top floor of the dungeon, creatures that looked like parasites with several tentacles began to crawl towards him, Carasu seeing his master in danger, ignored his fatigue and flew towards the parasites, cutting them with his claws, beak and sharp wings.

Extremely tired, he landed on the ground frequently, using his beak to kill those parasites that were smaller than his head while catching his breath. But no matter how many creatures he killed, more of them would emerge from inside the dungeon towards the shaft, It was as if there was an army of them on this floor.

It was then that one of the creatures jumped from the ceiling on top of the little crow. Carasu was taken by surprise and felt the creature trying to break his feathers to pierce his body. His other tentacles wrapped tightly around his wings, blocking his movements. Luckily, the sharp red feathers cut the tentacles, and he managed to get rid of it. However, this small gap in time was enough for another parasite that was on the dungeon ceiling to jump on the little crow again. At the same time, another one clung to his paw, and another one climbed up his back.

With no other choice, the crow began to try to roll on the ground in an attempt to get rid of the parasites and went back into the pit next to his master's body. He only had time to take one last look at his master, almost as if he wanted to express his apologies for failing to protect him, before one of the parasites pierced one of his eyes and the life left his little body.

As the 3 parasites took the life of the little crow and began to devour him, many others began to approach the elevator entrance from all directions, including the ceiling. In that desperate moment when Rafael's life was in danger, a head the size of a fist appeared from inside his cloak.

The little firewyrm that was wrapped around Rafael's arm crawled out while looking at everything curiously, but behind its curious look was a trace of pure evil. It approached crawling like a salamander and devoured the 3 parasites that killed Karasu. After tasting the delicacy, it turned to those who were entering through the ceiling of the elevator and spat flames at them, making them all fall to the ground completely roasted. It then turned to those who were crawling in from the ground and began to eat them all. The more it ate, the more its face distorted with the pleasure of killing.

After eating enough, he began to play with the lives of the parasites by chewing them and then spitting them out, sometimes burning several of them in a row and curling up and crushing several of them. After almost 10 minutes of slaughter, the creatures stopped trying to enter the elevator shaft, either out of fear of the predator that was there or because of the hot flames.

Feeling satisfied with the meal and the fun, the little firewyrm approached Rafael's body and nestled into his chest to rest while protecting him, but not before giving one last look full of contempt and mockery at the little crow's corpse...

Almost 12 hours after falling down the elevator shaft, Rafael finally regained consciousness. He opened his eyes, still a little dizzy and confused, and put his hand behind his head where he still felt pain and could feel some dried blood in the wound. It was dark and he couldn't see anything. It was hard to breathe, and he felt pain with every breath. One of his legs hurt a lot and it was hard to move it. All he could see were the various messages from the system that emitted constant sounds.

Of all the messages, the death of my little crow saddened me the most. It is inevitable not to get emotionally attached to our pets, especially since I survived the fall into the well because of him... Before paying attention to any other message, I took two healing potions from my inventory and drank them. After that, I took out a scroll with minor healing imbued and used it as well. A blue glow covered my entire body as I felt the effects of the magic and the potions making my injuries recover faster.

I then turned my attention to the lack of oxygen in the place. My mask broke in the fall, and the diseases and curses that hit me may have been caused by the air I breathed here. The curse causes corrosion of the body from the outside in, starting with the skin. It cannot kill someone, but it is extremely painful. The fungus-caused disease could be some kind of mold disease due to the damp environment of the dungeons.

The last disease that is currently affecting my body has a higher level than my resistance, and so I have no details about it. I focus on my eyes, and my two pupils change shape using Temporary Alteration. Soon, I saw the dark environment become brighter, this is my most recent achievement in alteration. It is no longer necessary to have extra eyes or permanently change someone's eyes to have night vision...

I then take from my inventory something that I consider one of the greatest inventions of humanity and my second greatest achievement in the last year. As soon as a syringe with a white liquid appeared in my hands, I applied it directly to the upper side of my thigh. Soon, a message from the system saying that the medium-level disease was being fought by the medicine made me satisfied with the effect of penicillin.

At the moment, I had no way to produce the first antibiotic of the human race on a large scale, but it was enough to supply all the members of the Order. Any artifact that could cure low and medium-level diseases was extremely expensive and rare, and potions for every type of disease in existence were a huge burden for everyone, which was why this antibiotic was undoubtedly one of the greatest inventions this world had ever seen.

Now that I could see in the dark, while still lying down, I turned my head to the right and looked at the elevator door that had disappeared, and in the darkness of the dungeon, I could see small creatures walking everywhere, including on the ceiling. All of them didn't dare to enter the shaft, the reason was quite obvious, next to the corpse of little Carasu were several completely burned parasites, and on my chest slept a creature with a snake's body, a dragon's head and small paws on its serpentine body, it was sleeping peacefully. I gave a satisfied smile; this little glutton and sleepyhead had finally become someone I could trust…
