Chapter 186: Eating food {94}
Aaron was seen sitting at a table, meanwhile, all around him, the Iguarashi family was seen sitting down and eating.
His posture was at first a bit stiff but after looking around the room and noticing how everyone in the room sat down.
He was able to fix his posture nearly immediately, the perks of being flexible were neet.
'This was not part of the script'
Yami sounded just a bit annoyed at the fact that Aaron was receiving any form of hospitality at all.
How the fuck was he supposed to break his mental health if this was happening, though he could use this too.
....
Though one looks at the black man's current mental health and he just sighs, he would need something much more than that.
Yukimi had a warm smile on her face as she placed a bowl of steaming miso soup on the table.
Everyone prayed on the food.....he wondered which gods they were praying to.
"Alright, everyone, dig in!" Genta announced in his usual cheerful voice, Aaron watched as the man clapped his hands together.
It seemed as if he was done hiding away his true self, he was trying to act like his old self and was now back to being his joyful self once again.
This was surprisingly pretty good news.
Though Aaron did notice a strange glint in the man's eyes, huh, he was probably thinking of Vail, subsconscionally.
He needs to stop examining people like this, look at him being invited to a dinner and the only thing he is doing is analyzing everyone around them as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
The thing wasn't that he did it intentionally, he was just a bit nervous and thus he immediately went to what he usually does when he is feeling nervous.
He was overlaminating everything.
From where he was, he was already making a mental note of everyone in the room, how many times they breathed in a minute, how many times they blinked in a minute.
How fast their heartbeat was, information that he had no business knowing was currently flooding his mind as his eyes scanned around the room.
He might not have noticed but his yellow eyes seem to glow, the way the light from the nearby window touches his eyes.
It made it look like the setting sum.
Was it him...or could he even see the aroma of the food floating in the air.....he could see everything.
Nothing could seem to escape his sight, usually, this happened when he was in a high-stakes situation where his life was on the line but a simple dinner was making his body act like this.
For Christ's sake, he felt as if he could see the way their muscles twitch before they made a movement which already told him what movement they would make before they made it.
Genta who was sitting next to Aaron, enthusiastically handed Aaron a plate saying.
"Here, Aaron, try this. It's Yukimi's special tempura. Best you've ever had, I promise!"
Aaron listened to the man and carefully tried to get some of the tempura, noticing two chopsticks near it.
As he applied some pressure to the chopstick it broke and thus Aaron just took the Tempura with his bare hand and started to eat it.
Slowly yet very carefully, this was probably the first time his temple had eaten Tempura.
"You suppose to use a chopstick"
Aaron looked up only see to the slight berating look on Sakura's face.
"Heh"
Was the sound that came out of Aaron's mouth, he was currently pretty befuddled and he was trying his best to get out of the state that he was currently in.
"You are supposed to use the chopstick to eat the tempura...didnt your parents teach you that"
"Sakura!"
Yukimi immediately said as soon as Sakura had uttered those words.
Meanwhile, Aaron was trying his goddam hardest to take the Tempura with the chopstick, why did it feel so goddam hard for no reason?
He seemed to be incredibly focused on what he was doing to the point that he seemed to not have noticed that Yukimi was scolding Sakura about what she had said.
'Imagine your operation on a patient' Aaron thought to himself, he was by no means no doctor, he only knew first aid.
Though considering the time period he came from, first aid to him was probably pretty advanced to the people in this world.
"How is it?" Yukimi suddenly asked after having finished scolding her daughter for being insensitive.
"It's good. Good. I like it"
He seemed to have a childlike look on his face as he ate the food, at least to Yukime's point of view that what she saw.
And she frankly found it adorable, the way that he seemed to be extra cute.
It was almost like watching a child trying not to break his toy.
"I'm glad you like it! Here, try some of this pickled daikon. It goes great with the tempura." She said as she passed him a small dish of vibrant yellow pickles.
Aaron added them to his plate before he started eating them, making sure to use the chopsticks this time in order to make sure he ate them correctly.
Though he wonder if he could...
Suddenly his watch turned on, he pressed a small button on his watch.
{Anti gravity activated}
And now all he needed to was just find a target....the Pickled Daikon and...here we go, he no longer had to put as much effort into making sure it didnt fall
"You have to try this combo, Aaron. A bit of tempura, a bit of pickled daikon, and some of this seaweed salad. It's the best mix."
Aaron listened to what Ikki was saying and tried out the combo for himself, after all, there was no hurt in trying.
This time he used 3 chopsticks instead of two as the more the merrier.
'This won't last long'
'is all you do hate'
'I wake up extra early in the morning just to make sure I can hate on you for longer, I thrive in your unhappiness, if you have 1 thousand haters, I am one of them, if you have 100, I am still there, if you have 1, that me if you no hater than I am dead'
'Why is it sounding like you were born to hate'
'Because it fun, hating is free, and seing you suffer feel me with joy'
Aaron sighed to himself as he heard the words coming out of his inner demon mouth, to think that he went from being a generic villain to semi-friendly to not becoming a hater.
How many personality disorders did this man have?
'You know that says more about you than me right'
'fuck he is right, jeez how much stuff am I repressing'
"Do you remember your parents" Genta suddenly asked, Aaron looked up at the man as he was still in the middle of eating his food.
Aaron seems to have a thoughtful look on his face.
As he tried to remember them, all he could see were foggy images alongside distorted voices.
"Let's say it like this, the last time I saw them...I was 8, apart from that it was all foggy"
"Do you at least have fond memories with them"
..
..
..
..
..
"...They gave birth to me....."
Was it him or did he feel like Genta was clenching his fist under the table, he could read it from their facial expression.
How could someone like that call themselves parents?
"Who raised you?"
"Myself, as no one else wanted to"
He said finishing his Tempura.
"I don't blame them"
"Sakura!"
"I don't either, raising an accident baby was not their responsibility" Aaron added as he finished his meal.
He needed to leave quickly as he realized he had started oversharing a bit too much.
"Anyway thanks you for the food"
A/N So I know that Aaron knows how to use a chopstick, I think I made it clear that ever since Geats he started to pick up more and more stuff from Japanese culture.
However, in the current situation, he is in, where his brain is kind of forced into this fight-or-flight scenario, his body has become a bit too sensitive for his licking.
For example, the chopstick broke when he tried to pick it, not because it was weak but because when Aaron tried to pick it, he unintentionally put so much force behind it that it broke.
If you want to get a gist of how he is feeling, imagine it's test day, the test is worth 80% of your grade, and you haven't studied for it....you look at the first question and the 20 questions behind it and realize....you are cooked.
