Chapter 31: Cursed Arsenal
The clearing near the Danish sorcerers' temporary base was quiet, the air carrying the faint scent of pine and damp soil. Furōkawa stood at the center, surrounded by the tools and artifacts that defined him as a sorcerer. Emilia sat cross-legged on a nearby rock, watching intently as Furō prepared to explain his cursed technique and the vast arsenal he had acquired.
"This should be good," Emilia remarked, smirking. "I want to see how well you actually understand your own power, Furō."
He rolled his eyes but grinned. "All right, then. Pay attention—I'll show you why I'm the best (and only) toxic sorcerer you've ever met."
Furōkawa held up his hand, summoning a faint orb of cursed energy that shimmered green and black. The energy radiated an ominous, corrosive intensity, bubbling like acid.
"My cursed technique, Kasei Umi (Caustic Sea), allows me to produce toxic and corrosive cursed energy," he began, the orb crackling in his palm. "This energy eats away at the core of other cursed energy, disrupting it and making it harder for my opponents to heal. Wounds caused by my technique can still heal, but they heal much slower—even with Reverse Cursed Technique. That delay gives me a major edge in battle."
He let the orb drop to the ground, where it hissed and burned through the dirt. A faint mist rose from the impact site.
"The catch," Furō continued, "is that no one else can heal me using their Reverse Cursed Technique. My body basically rejects their energy. So, if I get injured, I'm on my own. I had to find that out when Yuta knocked me out cold. It's one of the reasons my binding vow is so important—without it, I'd burn myself out or bleed out in no time."
Furō took a deep breath, his cursed energy dimming slightly. "To stop my body from tearing itself apart, I placed a limiter on myself. I can only use 60% of my cursed energy and my technique's maximum potential at any given time. But when I break the vow…"
He clenched his fist, and the corrosive energy flared wildly around him, burning the air.
"…I get a 130% boost for five minutes. The tradeoff? Double the damage to my body."
Emilia nodded, her expression serious. "Smart. Without that, you'd probably be dead already with all the power you're hauling around."
"Thanks for the vote of confidence," Furō said dryly.
Furō gestured to Onamazu, the large metallic oar strapped to his back.
"This is Onamazu. It's a cursed tool that adapts to my cursed energy and the Valkyrie artifacts I've absorbed. Right now, it has three forms: the oar, the axe, and the whip."
1. Onamazu: Oar Form
"The default form. It's sturdy, versatile, and perfect for close combat. But it really shines when I channel Kasei Umi through it. I can create wide sweeps of toxic energy or focus it into a cutting edge."
2. Onamazu: Oryx (Axe Form)
Furō transformed the oar into a massive, silver axe. Its blade gleamed with a faint green glow.
"This came from the Valkyrie Brynn. It's heavier and hits harder than the oar, and when I amplify it with my cursed energy, it can crush through defenses like they're nothing."
3. Onamazu: Basilix (Whip Form)
The axe dissolved into shimmering metal tendrils, forming a whip with three viciously spiked ends.
"This one's from Gondul. It's tricky to use but great for range and crowd control. The tendrils are sharp enough to slice through cursed spirits, and they pair well with my mist techniques."
Artifacts of the Valkyries
Furō held up his hands, showing the various rings and bracelets that adorned him.
Ring of Geirdriful: Spear of Putrefaction
He summoned a long, spear-like construct made of glowing green energy. The weapon pulsed with volatile power.
"This ring lets me create spears of pure toxic energy. They're strong on their own, but if I chant and use hand seals, I can enchant them to explode on impact. The downside? That process takes time, and in a fight, time's a luxury I don't always have."
Bracelets of Mist and Catalyst
Tendrils of green mist began to seep from Furō's body, swirling around him in an ominous haze.
"These two are a pair. The first bracelet, Haze, lets me release toxic fumes that burn and obscure cursed energy. The second one, Catalyst, gives me finer control over the mist, letting me solidify it into shapes like walls, shields, or even weapons. It's great for defense and controlling the battlefield."
Nose Ring of Rota
Furō tapped the small ring on his nose.
"This one's more subtle. It doesn't give me new abilities, but it enhances my cursed energy control. I can activate Valkyrie-based techniques faster and use less energy to pull them off. It's probably the reason I haven't accidentally killed myself yet."
Furō's expression grew serious as he finished his explanation. "The problem is that all of this is a lot to manage. I've got too many moving parts, and if I'm not careful, I'll overload myself. That's why I need to train harder—focus on balancing my power instead of just throwing everything at my enemies."
Emilia stood, brushing dirt from her hands. "Good. Because with your current level of control, you'd last five seconds against someone like Sukuna or Gojo."
"Gee, thanks," Furō muttered.
She smirked. "But you've got potential. With enough training, you might actually make it out of this alive."
Furōkawa grinned, hefting Onamazu onto his shoulder. "Then let's get to work."
As they began their sparring session, Furō couldn't help but feel a flicker of pride. His power was immense, and his arsenal was formidable. Now, he just had to master it—and survive the battles to come.
