The 100th Regression of the Max-Level Player

Chapter 263: Ten 1st-Class Angels (2)

[There you are, you little worm.]

While effortlessly blocking the attacks from the rest of the players with his wings, Baruel dashed toward the archer at incredible speed.

“Hah!”

Seeing the angel appear right in front of her in an instant, Dorothy released her arrow.

Thunk—!

The arrows struck his wings but fell harmlessly to the ground.

Before she could react further—

[You pathetic worm. Die.]

Puk!

Baruel’s Feather Blade pierced through Dorothy’s chest, skewering her heart.

“D-Dorothy!”

Christine screamed in shock, but Baruel didn’t even glance in her direction.

He merely leapt into the air to dodge the concentrated bombardment of attacks aimed at him and began charging another skill.

Fwoosh— Fwoosh— Fwoosh—!

Puk— Puk— Puk!

“Kuhhh!”

“Gaaah!”

The number of fallen players increased with each passing moment.

Despair seemed inevitable, but all hope was not lost.

Slash—!

A piece of Baruel’s wing was suddenly cut off, feathers scattering into the air.

‘What…?’

For the first time, Baruel felt a sense of danger.

He quickly retreated and searched for his attacker.

[No way…?]

His eyes widened as he recognized the figure before him.

It was another angel—or so it seemed at first glance.

Their body bore the same celestial features, but their skin and face showed decay, with patches of bone visible. Their form was semi-transparent, ghost-like.

It was none other than Sariel, the Death Archangel, or rather, an undead imitation of him.

[Sariel?]

[What?]

The other angels, who had been watching from a distance, were just as shocked as Baruel.

How could Sariel, one of the seven archangels, appear in this place?

[Wait, that’s not Sariel.]

It was Demiel who corrected the others.

Strictly speaking, this was not Sariel.

His appearance was similar, but the decaying body and ghostly nature made it clear: this was an undead version of the archangel.

[Damn humans. They turned an archangel into an undead puppet.]

Baruel didn’t feel anger—he felt pity.

How weak must Sariel have been to allow himself to be turned into a toy for these lowly humans?

[For a noble being like him to be turned into a plaything of such vile creatures… I shall grant you peace, Sariel.]

But regardless of Baruel’s words, the undead Sariel didn’t hesitate.

He swung his massive curved sword directly at Baruel, driven solely by the orders of the summoner, John Delgado.

[How pitiful.]

Although Baruel spoke words of pity, he couldn’t afford to stay relaxed.

He was entirely focused on deflecting Sariel’s strikes.

Clang—! Clang—!

The undead Sariel, ranked 6th among the archangels in life, still retained 50% of his former strength, even as an undead puppet.

For Baruel, a first-class angel, he was a formidable opponent—someone he could not easily overcome.

[What are you all standing around for?! Help me, you idiots!]

Baruel finally called out to his fellow angels for help.

The other first-class angels, who had been leisurely watching the spectacle, burst into laughter.

[That’s what we were waiting to hear.]

[Sure, we’ll help you out.]

The ten angels joined the fray, surrounding Sariel.

Although Sariel was powerful, he was still only half of his former self—and now, he faced ten fully intact first-class angels.

The balance tipped almost immediately.

Slash—! Slash—!

Feather Blades sliced into Sariel’s body, cutting his limbs apart.

Unable to endure the combined assault, the undead Sariel faded into mist, vanishing.

Though he could be resummoned once the cooldown expired, for now, he was out of the battle.

[Hmph, even an archangel isn’t that big of a deal, huh?]

[It’s just a half-baked undead spirit.]

[Still, Baruel, you owe us one. We saved your hide.]

[Shut up! From here on out, I’ll handle things myself—]

Baruel stopped mid-sentence.

It wasn’t because of what his comrades had said.

It was because another arrow had been fired at him.

Ting!

He deflected the arrow with his blade and immediately turned his gaze to the source.

Once again, the archer was there, calmly drawing their bowstring.

[What the—?! That human should already be dead! How are they still alive?]

Baruel’s confusion was quickly resolved by one of his fellow angels.

[I saw it earlier. That human in white robes—she used a resurrection spell to bring the archer back to life.]

[What?!]

Baruel’s face twisted in frustration.

A human capable of resurrection?

That information alone was enough to make his expression darken.

[How annoying. That one needs to die first.]

[Do you want us to help?]

[Don’t touch them! Every single one of these humans is mine to deal with.]

Leaving those words behind, Baruel shot toward his new target like an arrow.

His goal was the healer.

Christine, realizing she had become the target, froze in terror.

[Die, you white-clad insect.]

Baruel raised his Feather Blade, ready to strike—

Boom—!

Suddenly, a fiery explosion struck the back of Baruel’s head.

The attack caused him to falter, halting the swing of his blade.

Turning around with a furious glare, Baruel saw the culprit: a mage who was still pointing their staff at him.

Swoosh—!

At the same time, an ice spear shot toward Baruel’s face, aiming directly for his eyes.

Clang! Clang!

Baruel managed to block the spear with his wings, but he felt a sharp sting.

These attacks were different.

The damage was far greater than anything he had experienced from the players earlier.

[You damned humans are starting to annoy me…!]

He planned to kill the healer first and then rip that mage to shreds.

But when he turned back, the healer was already gone.

[What?! Where did she go?!]

Baruel trembled with rage.

Realizing the mage had distracted him long enough for the healer to escape, he redirected his focus.

His new target was now the mage.

Baruel closed the distance in an instant, aiming his Feather Blade straight for the mage’s heart.

Puk—!

“Ugh!”

Although the mage had a magical barrier in place, it was pierced through as though it didn’t exist.

The mage, Alex, let out a pained groan as blood spurted from his chest.

“Alex!”

Min Juri, standing nearby, cried out in shock.

Baruel turned his attention toward her without hesitation.

[Annoying pests.]

Puk!

The Feather Blade pierced Min Juri’s body just as easily as it had Alex’s.

Her lifeless body collapsed to the ground.

It was such a swift and meaningless death.

And then,

Boom—!

With a deafening sonic boom, someone descended from the sky.

[What’s this? Another human?]

Baruel looked up, his gaze locking onto the figure who had appeared.

It was a human standing atop the night sky, as if the air itself were solid ground.

The figure wore a strange white mask, their appearance eerily calm.

“Ah……”

The masked figure surveyed the battlefield.

The scene of carnage is reflected in his eyes.

And then, he spotted it.

“……Min Juri?”

His gaze fell upon the lifeless body of the woman lying on the ground.

Tap.

The masked man descended to the ground, his attention focused entirely on Min Juri.

He walked slowly toward her, as if trying to confirm her condition.

Baruel, noticing this, sneered.

[I don’t know where you came from, human, but your luck has truly run out—]

Before Baruel could finish his sentence, he felt a strange sensation.

The world seemed to spin around him, and then—

Thud.

His head hit the ground, separated from his body.

Before his corpse could even collapse completely, blood spurted out, staining the earth.

[B-Ba…ruel……?]

The other first-class angels froze in place, their expressions hardening.

Not one of them had seen how it happened.

The only clue was the golden blood dripping from the blade of a scythe—one held in the hands of the masked man.
