Chapter 5: Chapter 5: A Portal to the Nether
Chapter 5: A Portal to the Nether
The heat of the forge still lingered on Technoblade's skin as he stood in the quiet of the night, the moon casting pale light over the cobblestone streets of Orario. His diamond armor gleamed faintly in the darkness, the flawless materials reflecting the subtle glow of the city. Despite the beauty of the craftsmanship, Technoblade wasn't satisfied. He knew that his work wasn't complete—there was more to be done.
Hestia had already left the forge, saying something about preparing for tomorrow's adventures, but Technoblade wasn't quite done with his task. His mind raced with ideas—ideas for perfecting his armor even further. He had already created something remarkable with the diamonds, but he knew he could make it stronger.
The answer had come to him in the form of a memory—a memory from his previous life. He'd recalled tales of a material far stronger than diamonds, something that could withstand even the fiercest of blows. That material was called Netherite. And to obtain it, he needed to create something very specific: a portal to the Nether.
---
Preparing for the Portal
Technoblade's footsteps echoed in the empty church as he gathered the materials. Obsidian—he had enough to make a portal, though it was heavy to carry. He also needed flint and steel, but that was easy enough to acquire. The tricky part would be making sure the portal was stable enough to last and, more importantly, ensuring he could survive in the Nether long enough to find the Ancient Debris that was essential to crafting Netherite.
He had never traveled to the Nether before—not in this world, at least. But his memories of his previous life were still vivid, and he knew how to create the portal. The thought of crossing over to another realm, a realm filled with fire, lava, and danger, only fueled his determination. He needed the Netherite. His armor would be incomplete without it.
With everything in place, Technoblade walked to a secluded area outside Orario, a patch of land free from prying eyes. He carefully laid the Obsidian blocks on the ground, following the familiar pattern he had once used in a far-off world. The frame of the portal began to take shape, a rectangular opening of black stone. He stood back and admired his work for a moment. The air around the portal hummed with potential.
"Here goes nothing," he muttered, taking the flint and steel in hand.
With a spark, fire ignited along the edges of the Obsidian, and the portal flickered to life. A purple, swirling mist appeared within the frame, and Technoblade felt a shiver run down his spine as the air around him seemed to shift. The portal was open—the way to the Nether was now within reach.

Crossing Into the Nether
Technoblade took a deep breath, steeling himself for what lay ahead. His diamond armor clinked with each movement, but he felt the weight of the upcoming journey in his bones. This wasn't a place to underestimate.
Hestia's voice echoed in his mind, warning him of the dangers of the Dungeon. But the Nether? The Nether was on an entirely different level. Every part of that world was a potential threat. Lava rivers, hostile mobs, and the dangerous environment itself—Technoblade was walking into the jaws of a beast. But he was ready.
He stepped forward and into the portal.

A Fiery Arrival
The transition was instantaneous. One moment, he stood in the moonlit streets of Orario, and the next, the world seemed to twist around him. The familiar landscape of Orario vanished in a blur of purple and black, replaced by a vast, hellish expanse of fire and stone.
Technoblade staggered for a moment, his body adjusting to the oppressive heat and the swirling mass of chaos that surrounded him. The ground was solid, but it felt unstable beneath his feet, as though it could crumble away at any moment. Towering pillars of black stone stretched into the distance, while rivers of lava glowed like molten veins, cutting through the landscape. The air was thick with the acrid scent of sulfur and the distant sound of fire crackling.
This was the Nether.
Technoblade didn't hesitate. He took a deep breath, adjusting the grip on his sword, and surveyed his surroundings. He needed to find Ancient Debris—he knew from his previous life that it could be found deep within the Nether's lava-filled caverns. But he couldn't be reckless. He'd have to move carefully, avoid unnecessary fights, and keep his wits about him.
He glanced around, scanning the area for any sign of life. The Nether wasn't quiet for long. A sound reached his ears—slow, deliberate footsteps. Technoblade's hand instinctively went to the hilt of his sword, and he tensed, ready to react.
A figure emerged from the haze—a ghastly creature, its body made of fire and smoke, floating through the air. Technoblade recognized it immediately.
A ghast.
With a loud, chilling scream, the ghast unleashed a fiery ball of explosive energy. Technoblade dodged to the side, the fireball narrowly missing him and exploding on the ground behind him.
He didn't hesitate. His sword was out, and in a single fluid motion, he launched himself at the ghast. The creature hissed in surprise as Technoblade closed the distance, his blade cleaving through the air and meeting the ghast's fiery body with a decisive slash. The creature let out a final, piercing scream as it dissolved into ash.
Technoblade took a breath, wiping the sweat from his brow. The battle was over.

Mining Ancient Debris
After dispatching the ghast, Technoblade didn't waste any time. He knew the ghast's scream might attract other hostile mobs, and the sooner he found what he needed, the better.
He began to dig. The ground in the Nether was a mixture of Netherrack, Basalt, and other strange materials, but Technoblade was looking for something specific. Ancient Debris—rare and precious.
He dug carefully, keeping his eyes sharp for any signs of danger. As he dug deeper into the rock, his pickaxe clanged against something solid. A satisfying sound. He cleared away the debris, revealing a few scattered pieces of the coveted Ancient Debris.
He smiled, knowing that with this, his armor would become something extraordinary. Technoblade took each piece and carefully stored it in his bag, making sure not to waste a single shard. The Nether was a dangerous place, but it was worth it for what he sought.
---
Returning to Orario
With the Ancient Debris in hand, Technoblade wasted no time in making his way back to the portal. His heart pounded in his chest, and the heat of the Nether was starting to wear on him. But he had what he needed.
The journey back to Orario felt much quicker than his entry into the Nether. He stepped through the portal, and the cool night air of Orario greeted him, a stark contrast to the oppressive heat of the Nether. The portal flickered behind him before closing with a quiet pop, leaving no trace of the dangerous realm he had just escaped.

Forging Netherite
Back in the church, Technoblade wasted no time. He heated the Ancient Debris in the forge, smelting it into the precious Netherite scrap. The flames of the forge crackled as the metal began to glow, and the distinct, shimmering quality of the Netherite started to take form.
Hestia returned to find him already working, a focused look in his eyes as he carefully melted the scraps down into bars of solid Netherite. She watched him for a moment, the weight of his task evident.
"Are you... really going to add it to the armor?" she asked quietly.
Technoblade didn't look up, his attention on the forge. "It's the next step. This armor won't just be strong; it'll be unbreakable."
With the final touches completed, he set the Netherite ingots beside the diamond armor. The fusion of diamond and Netherite would create an armor unlike anything seen in Orario. Carefully, he began the process of combining the two materials, using the legendary blacksmith tools from Hephaestus Familia.
