Sword Arts Online: Darkness

Chapter 36: Chapter 35 - Help instead

Third person POV

Some days passed, and it seemed that Roxas and his friends were doing fine after June 12. Roxas and Anko became closer by friendship, and both became Arashi's friends at school. Arashi shared his passion for playing the piano. Roxas, meanwhile, was also passionate about playing the piano, too, so he and Arashi played songs on the music class's pianos, which are 3 grand pianos costing 120,000 Yen each.

Minato, on the other hand, had been training under Hideyoshi, his new spirit guardian. He even had and inherited Hideyoshi's stats and his current level, Level 23. But still, Minato wanted to keep this a secret from his friends. As a result, the Elite Players detected that and were confused about how Minato had obtained such stats in just a short period of time. Those strong players had no idea that there were dead players who had some unfinished business with the game.

One day, on June 20, at a park in Shibuya, Roxas was walking with his backpack toward one of the park's concrete benches and tables to have a self-study session for himself this afternoon. The time was 4:23 p.m., and Roxas had just parted ways with his friends before taking the Tokyo Subway to Shibuya. And when he found one, Roxas was stunned to see Evil Kirito doing some after-school homework in Math. The Elite Player was in his school uniform rather than his typical game player's attire. But Roxas wanted to have peace with him, so he greeted him good afternoon casually and sat down at the other side of the table, before bringing out his notebook for the Vietnamese language and some pencils and an eraser. After that, Roxas opened his notebook and grabbed his wooden pencil to write some notes and practice writing certain vocabulary he was familiar already. Roxas had been studying Vietnamese for 7 months now. Evil Kirito saw him studying but was wondering what Roxas was studying for a bit before diving back in his Math homework.

A bit later, Evil Kirito was struggling with his Advanced Algebra Math homework while Roxas was studying Vietnamese. Roxas then began to practice saying the 6 tonal sounds of the language. And then, when he noticed that Kirito was struggling in the other side of the table from him, Roxas, instead of leaving him to struggle, stood up and went to him.

 "What's wrong?" he asked him.

"This question is hard and doesn't make sense," replied Kirito back.

In response to that, Roxas took a look at the said question in Advanced Algebra, only to find that it was easy for him to answer it.

So, he grabbed Kirito's pencil and started showing him how to answer it with his written, step-by-step procedures in it.

It was a bit long, but Roxas did so in answering the question correctly.

"There you go." Roxas put the pencil back.

Kirito was stunned at his method of answering that question and couldn't believe that Roxas could answer that. "No way…"

"You can create your own way of solving these kinds of math problems," Roxas confidently and positively responded back, before smiling at him for a couple of seconds.

 "Oh…thanks…"

 "You're welcome, Kirito-kun."

Evil Kirito is taken aback when Roxas calls him like that.

Roxas then went back to his seat to resume his studies.

Evil Kirito was stunned at his friendliness and kindness, before resuming his studies.

After some time, Roxas was done studying and gave himself a little reward by watching one of his favorite data videos on YouTube. Evil Kirito was also done with his homework and put away his stuff into his backpack, which was an item in his inventory actually. After that, he stood up and stretched a bit. "That was a bit hard…"

Meanwhile, Roxas became entrenched in the video's song used for its background music. "Timor-Leste," Roxas uttered while listening to the last segment of one of his favorite songs without lyrics before that song was restarted from the beginning. What makes it weird is that Roxas pronounced it well and nicely due to his heavy exposure to videos on YouTube from a young age.

Evil Kirito heard that and was wondering what that even meant.

Roxas, meanwhile, was quiet enjoying his little break time.

Later, at night at the shared house, before dinner time, Roxas was in his room writing today's events in his journal with a blue, 0.5-millimeter gel pen. The evening was quiet, and Roxas was having a peaceful time now. Anko was quite impressed by Roxas' writing skills.
