Chapter 19: The Ex-Boyfriend’s Favorite Shade (1 / 2)
Inside the forest, Qiao Sisi walked alongside Tang Wan, Sun Haotian, and Qi Le.
They were going to pick bananas together.
This was a small island in Hainan, where tropical fruits like bananas and mangoes were very common.
The production team had arranged with the locals beforehand, so the guests could pick as much as they wanted and pay accordingly.
The two boys led the way, with the two girls following behind.
Qiao Sisi had stumbled earlier and had been quiet since, looking somewhat unhappy.
She replayed the earlier scene in her mind, along with Fang Zhou’s gaze.
Did he think she did it on purpose? To get hit by the ball and then play the victim for sympathy?
That must be it, that’s what Fang Zhou’s look implied.
Qiao Sisi plucked a blade of grass and started breaking it into pieces in her hand, fuming inside.
Damn Fang Zhou, to scold her for a woman he just met!
She was livid, he better sweet-talk her, or she’d never bother with him again!
Seeing her silent, Tang Wan knew she was angry and took the initiative to say, “Sisi, are you still hurting? Maybe you shouldn’t carry anything later.”
Qiao Sisi snapped back to reality, gratefully saying, “It’s okay, I can manage. There’s no wound, don’t see me as so fragile!”
It was also Tang Wan’s reminder that made Qiao Sisi realize they were being followed by a camera.
She finally brought back her smile, back in business.
Qi Le saw her spirits lifted and joined in the conversation.
“Sisi, what fruit do you like? Cherries or strawberries?”
Qiao Sisi turned to look at him. Qi Le was actually quite handsome and had always been attentive. For an ordinary girl, he would be a good choice.
Unfortunately, Qiao Sisi’s heart was preoccupied with someone else.
She smiled wryly and shook her head gently in response, “No, I don’t like either.”
“What fruit do you like then?”
Qiao Sisi pointed to a banana not far away, “That banana looks quite tasty.”
The banana tree in the distance grew tall and straight, its bunches of bananas hanging densely on the branches, quite pleasing to the eye.
On the beach, a few people, idle and bored, had started to boast and shoot the breeze.
Leading the pack were Liu Hao and Dong Donghui, one a voice actor and the other a fashion magazine manager, both privy to plenty of gossip.
In front of the camera, they spoke in veiled terms, but everyone listened with great interest.
“In the voice acting circle, the most famous incident must be that certain voice acting mogul who took the money and ran.”
Liu Hao spoke animatedly, and everyone perked up at his words.
“Hmm? What do you mean, did you also suffer from it?”
“Come on, spill it! This sounds interesting.”
Everyone was brimming with excitement, just waiting to hear the juicy details, and even the live stream audience was eagerly anticipating.
Sometimes marketing accounts also spread gossip, but with so many baseless rumors, no one believed them anymore. Nothing beats hearing it straight from the horse’s mouth.
Although Fang Zhou wasn’t boasting, he sat listening to their stories, sipping on the drink Han Xi had given him.
As he drank, he felt a cool gaze fixed on him.
Looking towards the source, it was Qin Yun, her eyes resting on the drink, seemingly asking, “Is it good?”
Chapter 19: The Ex-Boyfriend’s Favorite Shade (2/2)
Fang Zhou avoided her gaze, turned in another direction, and simply joined the boasting crowd, refusing to look at her.
Qin Yun was amused by his action and shifted her gaze to Han Xi beside him.
The woman, though still wearing a cold expression, had a noticeable change in her eyes. The frustration and regret from before had vanished, replaced by pleasure and relaxation.
Clearly, Fang Zhou had played a part in this.
Indeed, Fang Zhou had the knack for lifting spirits with just a few words. It seemed, however, that Han Xi might have a special regard for him.
Han Xi, sensitive as she was, immediately noticed Qin Yun’s gaze. She looked up to meet her eyes and saw a complex mix of emotions—investigation, contemplation, curiosity, and even a hint of jealousy?
How could that be? She had no dealings with Qin Yun.
Han Xi quickly dismissed the thought. If she couldn’t figure it out, she wouldn’t dwell on it. She simply turned her head and asked directly.
“Why are you looking at me?”
Qin Yun tucked away the thoughts in her eyes, quickly masking the emotions that had slipped out, and revealed a smile.
“I was wondering, what’s the shade of your lipstick today? It looks really good.”
Han Xi nodded in understanding, so that was it.
“Armani 405, want to take a look?”
She pulled out the tomato-red shade from her bag and held it up, asking.
When girls get together, there’s always endless topics to talk about, just the lipstick shades alone could fill an hour.
It’s quite common for them to ask about and share lipsticks with each other.
Qin Yun was initially startled, then quickly recovered.
She also took out a lipstick from her bag, and it was the exact same design as the one in Han Xi’s hand.
“I have this one too, it’s my ex-boyfriend’s favorite shade.”
Qin Yun seemed completely unconcerned as she discussed the influence of her ex-boyfriend on a romance variety show.
At that moment, the live audience let out a sharp scream.
“Ah! Their lipsticks are the same!”
“Help, my lipstick is the same as the beauty’s! This shade really brings out the complexion.”
“Am I the only one concerned that Qin Yun still keeps the lipstick shade her ex-boyfriend liked? Feels like she can’t quite let go.”
Han Xi was also taken aback, exclaiming, “What a coincidence, me too!”
A rare look of surprise appeared on her cool, distant face.
Such a coincidence? Because this was the lipstick Fang Zhou had given her, and after finishing one tube, she had bought another herself.
The person in question was right there; Han Xi couldn’t help but glance at the crowd. Fang Zhou was chatting animatedly with two other men, completely oblivious to their conversation.
Han Xi didn’t think too deeply about it, since the commonly used lipstick brands were just a few, and the popular shades within those brands were limited, so it was normal to have overlaps.
Seeing this, Qin Yun also tightened her grip on the lipstick in her hand, glanced at Fang Zhou, and quickly looked away, murmuring to herself.
“What a coincidence.”
She lowered her eyelids, and her long, dense lashes covered her eyes, hiding whatever was inside.
Could such coincidences really happen? Qin Yun couldn’t help but ask herself.
And just now, the emotions that Han Xi couldn’t hide when she looked at that person were clear as day under the sunlight.
For some reason, at this moment, Qin Yun felt the sun was a bit dazzling, a bit too intense, the rays stinging on her skin, as if it was her heart that was aching.
