Surprising Even Breathing

chapter 25

25 – Secret Angel

Professor Richellin, who had hurriedly ran away as soon as he entered the classroom, returned when the panicked students were contemplating whether or not to go looking for the professor.

When she returned late, all nine tails were shining brightly.

“Hey, everyone! Are you confused? Well, I was a bit surprised too! This is fine now.”

He smiled awkwardly and waved his hand again as if nothing had happened.

I noticed a change in her.

He wrapped his body in magic and came back.

It seemed that I was scared, so I went outside and cast defense magic on my own, and in addition to that, I also equipped it with mental strength-enhancing magic.

Having done her best, she continued talking without even thinking about looking back at me, just like Professor Trunen in the previous class.

“Hey, I’m Richellin, who is in charge of the ‘History of the Continent and Characteristics of Races’ class! Have you heard a lot about it?”

smile and say

He had a friendly and cheerful attitude, but his gestures were somehow awkward.

Even if you don’t want to do that, you will become conscious of me.

“I’m in charge of the special class at the academy with Prof. T. Trunen! It’s a pleasure to be with you…!”

I try to smile broadly, but take a step back.

As I focused on her, the nine tails were quivering anxiously.

With the magic circle of the Demesis seat, I would have greatly reduced the sense of intimidation expressed outside.

Still, it was hard to endure just looking at my eyes.

Even though she was a professor famous for her skills here.

“If you have any concerns or secrets that you cannot tell others, please come and consult me anytime! My lab is always open! hahahaha.”

She finally found stability after she moved to the corner opposite me instead of the front center of the classroom.

Concentrating on the students in front of him, he continued his talk cheerfully.

“First of all, I’m going to pick the class president for this class! In the future, I will take on the role of teaching assistant or representing the special class at the academy!”

The class president election was written on the blackboard.

Normal classes don’t have class presidents, but this class is special.

There were so many group assignments and exchanges between students and professors that a separate student representative was needed.

“Now then, those who apply for class president! If you become class president or vice president, there is a bonus to your grades!”

Professor Richellin, who knocks on the blackboard in the corner to cheer up the atmosphere.

However, the students’ reaction was lukewarm.

No one wants to step forward easily.

I was afraid to open my mouth and get attention from me.

“uh? Usually, students in the special academy class actively applied for the class president election? This is strange…”

It was a strange atmosphere in the classroom from the beginning.

If a variety of students with different personalities and characteristics gathered from all over the continent, it would normally be cluttered or noisy like a market floor, but this place is overly solemn.

As if his throat would twist if he said it first.

Professor Richellin rolled his eyes and looked at the students’ reactions.

My aggressive, frightening aura seemed to emanate from the corners of the classroom.

“Are there any students who really apply? no one?”

I urgently make eye contact with the students, but everyone’s eyes are terrified.

He sat in a calm and timid manner.

“Then I will choose randomly! Is that okay?”

“… … .”

The moment to choose the class president came.

Like a performer eliciting a response from a slumped audience, Professor Richellin raised his hand and began to look around at the students.

Except for me, of course.

“There students! The student looks good. What’s your name?”

“Oh, did you call me? I am Miel. A young daughter of the Goddess, a candidate saint. Delir Miel.”

“It must have been Ms. Miel. I chose it because it looked good. congratulation! I’m the class president from now on!”

“thank you…”

Miel replied with a face that was not happy at all and lowered his thin face.

It would not be strange to appear in front of people by supervising worship or prayer in a church, but the class president feels burdened.

Because of the strong presence felt at the back of the left corner of the classroom.

*

“My class is. The goal is for different races to learn and understand each other. It’s like I’m meeting you as a professor at this academy.”

Richellin entered the class in earnest.

With a smile on his lips, he started talking about his past.

How did he get along with humans, meet good friends, and eventually become an academy professor?

The short story contained a crush on people, the joy of being together, and pleasure.

The nine-tailed fox is generally recognized as a dangerous and cunning beastman, but Richellin was not.

Having learned how to be human and how to communicate, she was recognized by people.

No matter what race they were, they would naturally open their hearts when they saw a kind and pretty beastman like her.

“What is needed to form a smooth relationship with other races is understanding through an open mind. To consider the other person’s circumstances without insisting that only one’s own method is correct. Considering not only your own point of view, but also the point of view of others. All good relationships start with such consideration.”

she said with a smile.

Richelyn, who was standing on the other side of the classroom, seemed the complete contrast to me.

She is loved regardless of race. I, who makes people tremble in fear regardless of race.

All eyes of the students were focused on her.

Would I ever make friends if I had the mindset she just described?

I listened to Richelin’s words.

It seemed like a must-have class for me.

“In my class, ‘History of the Continent and Characteristics of Races’, I will learn what kind of past different races had, and what kind of thinking and lifestyle they developed. And the co-workers right by your side. We will also take time to understand each other.”

After hearing that, the students looked at the figures sitting next to them.

They all have different races and appearances, characteristics and personalities, specialties and abilities, and so on.

At first glance, they don’t look like each other.

It will take more time and effort than you think to understand the friend next to you.

Of course, no students were looking in the direction I was sitting.

“Before we proceed with the lecture in earnest, I would like to start with the ‘Secret Angel’ game today.”

“Bee, are you a secret angel?”

Miel, who was sitting in the front seat, reacted to the familiar name of the game.

The secret angel game was popular among god-believers.

“Everyone knows what an angel is, right? Blessed beings who existed in the Age of Mythology and carried out God’s commands. It all started with that legend.”

Richellin kindly explained the concept for students unfamiliar with the ‘Secret Angel’ game.

The secret angel game is simple.

Acts like an angel for randomly assigned others.

But it is a secret to him that I am your angel.

It’s just a harmonious game with no penalty if you find out later that you’re an angel.

“You are in a very rigid state right now. So, what better way to relax and form your first relationship than with the ‘Secret Angel’ game? Do each other a free favor.”

Richelin said that and placed the square box on top of the podium.

The box contained a note with the student’s name on it.

“Now, come out one by one and take the note from the box. The person written on the note is the person you will help as an angel in the future.”

Starting from the front seat, he started calling students in turn.

*

“How do you become an angel? I have no wings.”

“A barbarian student? At the academy, you have to show respect to your professors.”

Each took turns picking up a note from the box.

Some students were curious about how to become an angel, and some students were nervous when they saw the note or complained about why they were doing this, but in the end, everyone calmly pulled out the note.

Finally it’s my turn.

Without even putting my hand inside the box, I brought the note with telekinesis.

When I moved, everyone fell silent and hesitated.

No one would want me to be their secret angel.

I put a note on the desk that has been folded several times and I can’t yet see whose name is written on it.

“huh? I have one note left. Is there anyone who didn’t take it?”

Richelin carefully checked the way I was carrying a note and asked the students when the box was still not empty.

“Oh, someone is absent today.”

A saintess candidate who raises her hand and announces in a low voice who has not come.

Broa’s seat was empty.

“Oh, there was a student who was absent. I didn’t check the number of people because I wasn’t in a hurry.”

Richellin, perhaps embarrassed, touched her lips with her finger and read the list on the roll.

Broa has been absent since the second day.

Pick up a fountain pen and lightly check attendance.

It was a rule to attend the academy special class without fail.

“everyone. I beg you in advance, but if you happen to miss class, you must first talk to the bachelor or tell the professor. Otherwise, a penalty will be imposed, so be careful.”

It was an imperial academy that highly valued sincerity.

Since there were various students, there was a strict aspect about rules and regulations.

“By the way, does anyone know why this student dropped out?”

Richelin turns her head and asks.

Everyone shook their heads from side to side, saying they didn’t know.

I also have a guess, but it’s just a guess, and I don’t know exactly, so I didn’t answer.

“Then, next time Miel has a chance, give this note to Broa. She will be the secret angel of the person on this note.”

Professor Richellin asked the candidate to deliver the note.

Miel receives the note.

She was a priestess of a church known for being sincere and keeping promises, so I’ll deliver it to Broa without any problems.

Professor Richellin seemed to know that and chose Miel as class president.

As expected, those from the church are the best to run errands.

“Well then, everyone got a note one by one, right? You can open it now.”

At her command, everyone began to open the folded notes.

I opened the note too and saw the name written on it.

「Lourivien」

「Guardian of the World Tree, High Elf」

It was kindly explained who it was.

‘A high elf?’

I immediately turned my head to find out where the elf was.

Like the other students, the high elf was secretly opening the note.

Suddenly feeling something out of place, I pricked up my long ears and shrugged my shoulders.
