Chapter 683 - 677: Truly Frightening

Chapter 683: Chapter 677: Truly Frightening

“Hmm, I understand.” Finn Lewis nodded, then pondered for a moment before saying, “Oh, Luna Starfield, don’t forget to record the related battlefield footage. Also, spray all our warships with the mark of the mercenary group that team leader Jasmine Davis previously provided us with.”

Upon hearing Finn’s words, Caleb Shaw looked at him with some confusion and asked, “Your Highness, what do you mean?”

“Nothing much, I think you should know that I had issued a bounty, a mercenary task. Now that I am capable of resolving it myself, I naturally have to claim back part of the reward. Regarding the remaining part, I will trouble the mercenary groups to handle it.” He casually shrugged and spoke.

Caleb Shaw was speechless. Naturally, he knew about the mercenary task Finn mentioned. Although Caleb wanted to say, “You are a Prodigal One, you could buy a lot of warships with those 130 billion star credits you used as a reward. With these warships, you could obliterate two mercenary groups, or even sweep all the pirates in the federation without any problem.”

However, he also knew that it was a necessary step for Finn. Besides, it can’t be denied, Finn’s bounty task hanging out there was a colossal deterrent for anyone. And the number of mercenaries spread across the entire federation was immeasurable.p>

If these mercenary warships joined forces, the number would be astronomically huge. Not to mention, those two pirate groups and the other pirate groups were likely to ambush from behind.

Thinking about it, 130 billion star credits was indeed a staggering number. However, Caleb didn’t feel envious. He knew how much he could earn. Although Finn had spent only 20 billion star credits here this time, they were confident they could get Finn to spend another 20 billion, even 200 billion here.

Seeing all these, Jasmine Davis, standing next to Finn, was almost biting her tongue. After a while, she finally opened her mouth somewhat speechlessly and said, “I mean, this is a bit shameless, isn’t it? My mercenary group is just a small group of dozens of people, and you brought out more than a hundred warships.”

“What’s there to fear, we’re concealing our power. Do you understand?” Finn immediately responded.

“All right, you’re powerful.” Jasmine Davis was somewhat speechless too; however, she didn’t stop him. Moreover, the warships here belonged to Finn and not her. What she could say wouldn’t count, so Jasmine Davis decisively didn’t continue speaking.

Time was not on their side. By the time Luna Starfield had marked the warships, nearly six hours had passed. Upon detecting the warp signature at their ambush center, Luna Starfield’s command was almost instantly transmitted to the entire fleet’s warships.

“Begin charging the main gun, prepare all secondary guns and flight engines.”

“Ready to activate the Hammer of Destruction, prepare the last-stand defense net.” As Luna Starfield’s voice echoed, the four formidable main gun barrels at the fore of all warships started flashing with faint blue energy light.

These guns, capable of destroying a small planet with a single shot, were not handy to attack with. However, their incredible attack range and power made them utterly devastating during warship combat. Galactic wars were somewhat similar to the destroyer bombardment after Earth’s First World War.

While they were powerful, it wasn’t easy to destroy the opponent. A battle could last for several days, even months. Unless it’s a head-on clash, it was challenging to annihilate one side in a short time if one ran and the other chased.

As time drew closer, Wind Martin’s look became excited. He could almost taste the desperation on Finn’s face when he’d defeat him. Not everyone had the experience of taking down a royal family member.

Furthermore, Wind Martin had started fantasizing. Before he warped over to kill Finn, he would tell him how he would let go of his fleet, then destroy his fleet. Not only would he kill his people, but he would also take his money and use it to buy brand new warships. He couldn’t help but smile, wondering what kind of look Finn would have when that happened.

That feeling of despair, anger, and helplessness, the mere thought of it made every cell in Wind Martin’s body cheer in excitement. He had grown fond of this feeling and became impatient.

When his men informed him that the warp engines were ready, Wind Martin gave the command without hesitation, “Initiate warp for everyone. After completing the warp, start searching for the enemy’s trace immediately. I want him to die in despair.”

“Yes, my lord,” everyone replied in unison. Then, all the ships in the fleet simultaneously entered warp. At the moment of warp, Wind Martin felt like he was about to reach a climax.

The golden warp energy field flashed past, and the golden view outside quickly changed. Seeing a golden energy field appear outside the hull window, Wind Martin felt a flash of anger. Who dared to warp ahead of him? Were they seeking death? But by the time he came to his senses, he was petrified by whatever was in the distance.

“How…how is this possible, it can’t be possible,” Wind Martin finally roared out in despair. He had recognized what the golden glow was – it was the glow of warships activating their last-stand defense nets. But how many densely packed nets were there?

Especially the red warning that appeared on the entire screen of the warship, it made him lose control of his body. A feeling of despair filled his heart.

Wind Martin knew what the red warning signified – it signaled the detection of potentially threatening weapons. But at the moment, he only had a little over forty ships, while the enemy fleet was at least over a hundred strong. Most importantly, all these ships were actual warships, unlike some of his own which were modified from civilian ships.

“L…Lord! The warp engines are being interfered with, we can’t locate the coordinates.” The pilot, mortified, reported.

“Reach out for communications with them, ask them what they want.” Even though he pretty much knew that they were likely here for Finn. Otherwise, it was impossible for Finn’s ship to warp over here and have a fleet waiting. If it was a coincidence, he’d refuse to believe it.
