Summoning Pokémon in Naruto

Chapter 21: Chapter 21: Ninjas and Pokemon

Name: Chimchar

Gender: Male

Ability: Blaze (Boosts Fire-type moves when HP is low)

Type: Fire

Held Item: None

Moves: Scratch, Leer, Double Kick, Fire Punch, Fake Out, Ember, Taunt

This was Chimchar's current skill set. Unlike Pikachu, which had already evolved, Chimchar was at a disadvantage in both raw power and move variety.

However, when it came to Pokémon tactics, Hayato had a much deeper understanding than Minato.

"Pikachu, use Double Team!" Minato commanded.

"Blaze, use Taunt on Pikachu," Hayato countered.

Both trainers issued their orders simultaneously. Pikachu split into three afterimages, while Chimchar leapt into the center of the field, turned around, and slapped its tail mockingly.

"Pika!" Pikachu's eyes turned red with rage. Forgetting Minato's commands, it charged directly at Chimchar.

"Pikachu, calm down! Don't fall for it!" Minato called out in panic, but Pikachu, enraged, ignored him completely.

Hayato smirked. Exactly as I planned.

"Blaze, now! Use Fake Out!"

"Chim!" Chimchar's eyes focused intensely as it met Pikachu's Quick Attack with a precise strike of Fake Out.

A dull thud echoed as both Pokémon were knocked back. Clearly, Chimchar hadn't anticipated Pikachu's sheer speed.

Chimchar staggered back to its feet, shaking its head to clear the dizziness.

"Well done. Now use Leer," Hayato instructed.

Pikachu rolled back onto its paws, its rage subsiding as it regained composure. It looked up at Chimchar, only to be hit by the full effect of Leer.

"Pikachu!" Minato exclaimed, relieved that his partner had calmed down. But he hadn't expected Pikachu to fall into Hayato's trap right from the start.

"It's fine, Pikachu," Minato encouraged. "You're stronger than Chimchar. Gather your strength and take it down head-on!"

Minato's strategy was simple: defeat Chimchar with Pikachu's superior strength and then double-team Hayato with both himself and Pikachu.

"Use Double Team again to create distance. Chimchar can't keep up with your speed," Minato ordered.

"Pika-pi!" Pikachu zipped across the field, creating afterimages that closed in on Chimchar from multiple angles.

Chimchar scrambled to attack but struck only illusions, its movements growing more frantic. Meanwhile, Hayato remained silent, not issuing further commands.

Chimchar glanced back at Hayato, only to see a look of disappointment in his eyes.

"Chim…" Chimchar whimpered, its confidence shaken.

Pikachu seized the moment, darting in for another attack while Chimchar hesitated.

"Blaze, don't look at me," Hayato said coldly. "This is your fight. Are you telling me you can't do anything without my instructions?"

Chimchar's eyes lit up with renewed determination. It braced itself against Pikachu's attacks, watching carefully for an opening.

Good. It's starting to think for itself, Hayato thought, pleased. Chimchar is still young. I can guide it, but to be a true partner, it needs to grow stronger on its own.

Activating his Sharingan, Hayato observed the battlefield intently.

"Now, Blze, use Fire Punch on the Pikachu to your left!"

"Chim!" Chimchar's fist flared with flames as it struck one of Pikachu's afterimages, revealing the real one. Both Pokémon were knocked back again.

Pikachu stood up shakily, a faint red glow flickering across its body.

Burn status activated, Hayato noted. But Chimchar's stamina is almost gone too.

Hayato stepped onto the field, throwing a shuriken at Pikachu.

"Pikachu!" Minato reacted swiftly, countering Hayato's shuriken with his own. Both sets of weapons clattered to the ground.

Minato's mind raced. Both Pokémon were in poor condition, far from the outcome he had anticipated. But as he looked at Hayato, his excitement grew.

Isn't this what I wanted all along—to face Hayato directly?

"Pikachu, can you still fight?"

"Pika!" Pikachu cried out, its determination unwavering.

"Double Shadow Lightning Flash Second Form!" Minato called out an absurdly long attack name, sending two shadow clones and Pikachu charging at Hayato simultaneously.

Classic Minato, Hayato thought wryly, but now wasn't the time to relax.

"Blaze, return!"

In a flash of light, Chimchar was recalled to its Poké Ball, leaving Hayato alone against Minato and Pikachu.

"Let's see it, Minato. This move you've been practicing just for me."

Pikachu's afterimages sparked with electricity, while Minato accelerated toward Hayato with remarkable speed.

Hayato retreated into the forest, his Sharingan spinning rapidly as he analyzed his opponents.

Minato learned the Body Flicker just by observing Pikachu's Quick Attack? Incredible. Hayato couldn't help but smile at his rival's growth. This is what makes battles worthwhile.

"Pikachu! Pikachu!"

Two Thunderbolts narrowly missed Hayato, showing how Pikachu's energy was waning.

"Pikachu, use Volt Tackle!" Minato commanded.

The electric mouse leapt from branch to branch, its body crackling with electricity. Abandoning its afterimages, Pikachu charged at full speed, cloaked in a glowing electric aura.

"There's no escaping now, Hayato," Minato declared confidently. "You've been running this whole time. This is my win!"

His kunai, crackling with electricity, gleamed as he and his clones surrounded Hayato.

"Is that so?" Hayato smirked. "Who's the one being surrounded?"

From Hayato's Poké Ball, a white light burst forth. Chimchar reappeared behind Pikachu, its eyes blazing with determination.

"Fire Punch!"

"What?!" Minato gasped as Chimchar's fiery punch struck Pikachu mid-charge.

Despite the blow, Minato remained determined. "Even if you take down Pikachu, I'll defeat you myself!"

Hayato kicked away two shadow clones, but Minato's kunai pressed against his neck.

"Don't move. You've lost," Minato said firmly.

Hayato's Sharingan spun ominously. "When did you start believing I wasn't using genjutsu?"
