Suicide Before Defeating the Final Boss

Chapter 43 - The Power of The Rosary

Suicide Before Defeating the Final Boss – 43

EP.43 The Power of The Rosary

In various cultural media, it is often said that when one gains immense power, a backlash occurs, causing tremendous pain. Strangely enough, Jeong-hyeon felt no pain at all—in fact, he felt an unusual sense of calm.

‘It feels like this power has always been mine.’

The divine power raging within him seemed capable of destroying everything, yet he remained in perfect control, as if it was just a part of him. He raised the divine power gathered in his hands, a smirk forming on his lips.

‘This is truly insane.’

True to its name, the “Amplification Rosary” not only amplified the existing divine power but also significantly improved its efficiency.

‘In the past, I had to consciously channel divine power into my sword.’

Now, the moment he thought of divine power, it gathered instantly in his sword. Satisfied with the newfound speed and efficiency, Jeong-hyeon lifted his sword, and several messages appeared before him.

[The Blessing of Amplification, the Blessing of Sharpness, the Blessing of Fire, the Blessing of Holiness, the Blessing of Strength, and the Blessing of Agility have been activated!]

Seeing the numerous blessings, Jeong-hyeon recalled that merely possessing the rosary allowed one to receive blessings. He let out an appreciative sigh.

‘This is it.’

No wonder people go to such lengths to obtain powerful items. Without hesitation, he gathered as much divine power as possible and unleashed it forward.

Boom!

A deafening explosion. It felt like setting off a powerful bomb. Watching the massive hole he had created, Jeong-hyeon deliberated for a moment before gathering divine power once again and channelling it into his sword. He began to slash in all directions, causing the building to collapse around him.

BANG! BOOM! BOOM! BANG!

Divine power erupted continuously from all directions. Still unsatisfied, Jeong-hyeon decided to take it a step further. He set down his sword and began channelling the divine power into his palms, closing his eyes.

‘I remember this feeling.’

He remembered the divine power barrier he had seen during his fight with Lea. Though he didn’t know the exact method, the principle was to use an overwhelming amount of divine power to repel everything. Determined to replicate it, Jeong-hyeon focused all his divine power and strength into his arms.

A blinding white light, so intense it could make one lose their sight just by looking at it, gathered in his hands.

Even someone like Jeong-hyeon, who usually released divine power recklessly, found this particular burst overwhelmingly intense. The pain in his palms from using such immense divine power was nearly unbearable.

‘…Just a bit more.’

Enduring the pain, he continued to gather power, each bit of greed driving him to surpass his limits. As he repeated this process, he suddenly realized that if he unleashed this, it might end disastrously.

‘…Wait. This might be bad.’

Realizing the magnitude of the power he had amassed, he gestured for Miria to retreat into the subspace. Given this power, she would undoubtedly be killed if she were caught in the blast.

‘Damn it.’

Watching Miria hurriedly escape into the subspace pouch, he took a moment to steady his breath before hurling the accumulated divine power at the ground.

BOOOOOM!

The explosion was unlike anything he had ever heard. The force of the blast far exceeded his expectations, leaving him momentarily stunned. The destruction was total—if anyone had been nearby, they were surely obliterated. The previously deafening screams had been completely silenced, replaced by an eerie stillness.

‘…This is insane.’

Before absorbing the rosary, no matter how much power he gathered, he could not have achieved even a fraction of this destruction. Though he had pushed himself to the limit, the mere fact that he had done it was astonishing. Jeong-hyeon looked around in a daze, his hands still tingling from the effort.

Buildings were reduced to unrecognizable rubble, and white flames licked at the remnants, making it look like an apocalyptic scene. It seemed more like a powerful bomb had gone off rather than a blast of divine power. As he took in the devastation, a message appeared before him.

*-*

[Congratulations! You have achieved the unbelievable feat of completely destroying the Black Market Auction House!]

[You are close to your next level up!]

*-*

Even the system acknowledged the total destruction of the auction house. Running a hand through his hair, Jeong-hyeon sighed.

From a distance, something was emerging from the rubble. Observing this, Jeong-hyeon drew his sword and approached cautiously. As he got closer, he saw that it was Marpe, covered in blood, crawling out.

‘Looks like luck is on my side.’

It seemed fate was serving him a treat on a silver platter. Grabbing Marpe by the head, he dragged him out and immediately pressed his foot against Marpe’s chest, greeting him.

“We were supposed to meet in the alley, but here we are. Nice to see you, Instructor.”

At his words, Marpe, trembling with fear, coughed and stammered.

“H-how… How are you… unharmed…?”

The question intrigued Jeong-hyeon. Given the magnitude of the explosion, it was expected that he would have been affected, but he had emerged unscathed.

‘It is strange that I’m the only one unaffected.’

Was it some game system preventing harm, or was it immunity due to the divine power?

Jeong-hyeon addressed Marpe with a nonchalant tone.

“That’s not the important part. What’s important is why you caused this terror attack.”

“…W-what are you talking about…!”

“Hmm? What do you mean, ‘what’? After our duel, your reputation and standing were ruined. You couldn’t stand being treated like that by a war hero like me, so you teamed up with Bishop Lea and caused this terror attack, didn’t you?”

Marpe, shocked and speechless, stared at Jeong-hyeon, who was speaking as if it were a fact. Jeong-hyeon, observing Marpe’s reaction, slapped him lightly on the cheek and continued.

“So, are you satisfied now? Killing so many people, you murderer?”

“That’s… That’s absurd…! Do you think others will believe such nonsense?”

“Well, normally they wouldn’t, but if there’s obvious evidence, they might.”

“…Evidence?”

Smiling, he drew the sword from Marpe’s waist. The pristine white blade gleamed as he infused it with his divine power, making it resemble the divine power used in the explosion. He then casually tossed it nearby.

“Shouldn’t the Second Knight Commander receive a sword from the country?”

Realizing Jeong-hyeon’s intentions, Marpe trembled and crawled towards him. Jeong-hyeon pressed down on his chest again and continued.

“What do you think people will believe when they see a sword, clearly belonging to you, filled with the same divine power that destroyed the auction house?”

“Haha… Just that? I use mana, not divine power… Infusing it with divine power means nothing!”

Jeong-hyeon, observing Marpe’s defiant stance, responded with a smirk.

“I figured you’d say that, so I prepared something special.”

He then picked up the now powerless sacred artifact, the Rosary, and, dripping with Marpe’s blood, tossed it haphazardly near the sword.

“But what if, near that sword, there’s the church’s sacred artifact, the Rosary? What do you think people will… no, what will they suspect?”

In an inexplicable scene, people tend to latch onto the most obvious evidence. By placing these incriminating items together, he could sow confusion and doubt, which would inevitably benefit him in some way.

‘Of course, this alone isn’t enough.’

To create even more compelling evidence, he swiftly severed Marpe’s right arm with his sword and spoke.

“Well, the arm? The blood? Whatever. I’ll just borrow your body for a bit.”

“AAARGH!”

Though his scream made it hard to hear, he assumed he agreed. To silence Marpe’s incessant screaming, Jeong-hyeon forcibly threw him into the subspace pouch.

‘Now, let’s start the real work.’

But first, some preliminary work. He sprinkled Marpe’s blood around the rosary and the sword, then began to drag the items around while scanning the area for potential targets.

‘Let’s see… any valuable targets around?’

He knew that high-ranking nobles, prominent families, or notable figures would likely have protective magic to survive the explosion. As he scanned the area, he spotted someone nearby, shivering and struggling.

‘Nice.’

Judging by their attire, the person seemed important. Though he didn’t know who exactly they were, Jeong-hyeon figured they might be useful. He quickly captured the individual and placed them into his subspace pouch.

‘Now, let’s check over there.’

Before more people arrived at the auction house, he hurriedly moved around, capturing as many survivors as possible. The number of people he captured here would determine how much easier it would be to bring down the kingdom later.

‘Not much time left.’

Instinctively, he realized that the day to confront Bishop Lea and Princess Karina was drawing near. The anticipation of seeing their despairing faces made him grin widely.
