Chapter 135: Returning to family
Mission Hall Building:
Jeremy Night made a call to Instructor Jacob and informed him about the mission during the call. Jacob thought it would be good for Jeremy Night to stay away from the limelight.
The students are already speaking negatively about their STRIKER Department. If Jeremy Night continued to stay here, the other Department Representatives might come to challenge him. So he agreed during the call itself.
Jeremy didn't know about this matter. After ending the call with the instructor, he spoke to the staff member who had listened to their conversation.
She said, "Since you have received permission, I'll register your name. There is no time limit for the mission. You have to conduct an investigation. If you come across any danger, you can return without engaging."
Hearing that, he nodded to her. But he had already made a decision in his mind. If it was a Tier-3 Corrupted Beast, he would try to eradicate it. But if it was a Tier-4 Corrupted Beast, he would return after gathering enough information about it.
Once the registration was done, he exited the building under the gazes of the curious people. Just as he was ready to leave, he received a notification from Instructor Jacob.
He opened it to view it and saw it contained an attribute-less movement technique. It's called Explosive Steps. It has only three chapters. It doubles your speed in each tier. But just as instructed, this method is only effective for Tier-3 and below.
After checking it, he closed the page. He had decided to practice at home.
About 10 minutes later,
He walked out of the university gate. Then he booked an aircab and began to wait. Not long after, the aircab arrived. He entered and told the driver to take him to the airport.
Swoosh!
The aircab rose above the ground and started to fly towards the airport. In the window seat, he couldn't help but think about recent events.
The Dangerous Area and the Black Lake are not something he can explore with his current strength. He has to become a Tier-3 Beast Tamer before doing anything that serious.
Time passed.
The cab driver dropped him at the airport about 15 minutes later. There were many planes going back and forth between City A and other cities.
Usually, there is no rush for tickets unless there is an incident like the Beast Invasion. Whenever he thinks about the Beast Invasion, his mood becomes worse.
So he pushed down these thoughts and began walking toward the counter. After arriving at the counter, he bought a ticket to City C, Zone 14.
There is a flight in the next 10 minutes, so he immediately went to board the flight. He was still wearing the Central University 14 uniform, so the check went without any hassle.
Then he boarded the flight and found a seat in the last row. This plane is medium-sized and only capable of carrying less than a hundred people. But it flies fast, and he can reach City C in 2 hours.
The passengers seated around him were enthusiastically discussing topics ranging from politics to the recent beast invasion. He didn't pay much attention to it, but when someone mentioned other zones, he perked up his ears.
He knew of the existence of other zones similar to their cities administered under one umbrella called Zone 14. Their size varies depending on location. He thought the people who were discussing it had been to other zones.
Shortly afterwards,
The flight took off, and he closed his eyes to sleep.
About 2 hours later,
The plane landed at City C airport. Jeremy woke up and got ready to leave. He hadn't informed his parents beforehand; he wanted to surprise them.
After leaving the airport, he booked an aircab to the Night Family Estate. The cab driver was familiar; he immediately recognized Jeremy's face.
He started speaking enthusiastically, and Jeremy smiled helplessly while continuing to listen to his words.
More than 20 minutes later,
The cab driver dropped him in front of his estate gate. The estate staff was startled upon seeing him. They immediately opened the gate and greeted him.
Jeremy nodded to others before heading toward the Main Mansion. The staff quickly went away to inform others. They had been hearing good things about their young master.
Especially, his feats during the beast invasion of City A were reported by many local media outlets. Because of this, the Night Household gained favorable opinions.
On the other hand, Jeremy entered the mansion. He was greeted by the staff and maids. It didn't take long for his mother, Nora Night, to find him.
She started sobbing upon seeing him. The cry contained tears of joy. The incident of the beast invasion had impacted her greatly. Only after hearing of her son's well-being was she able to find peace.
Jeremy sighed inwardly. He then spoke with his mother about the university and the various departments, including his appointment as the Department Representative.
He also hid a few things from her. He didn't tell her about the wilderness and its dangers. If she had learned that her son had tried to explore a forbidden area, her reaction would have been different.
Not long after, his father, Ron Night, arrived after hearing the news as well. His face was full of smiles. He had known about his son's feats.
He couldn't help but talk about it. The family of three continued to spend a few hours talking before Jeremy mentioned his mission near City C.
Ron and Nora Night were taken aback. They hadn't expected their son to come here on an official trip as well. When they asked about the mission, Jeremy simply said it was for some investigation.
He didn't want to elaborate further. Then he returned to his room. Looking at his own room after some time, he couldn't help but feel a little sad. But it can't be helped; the resources are lacking here. He can only obtain them in City A.
Meanwhile,
The news of Jeremy Night's return had spread across the Night Family Estate. It didn't take long for the local media to learn about it.
