Chapter 29: Angel Beats!
Third Person PoV
Before Kojou met with La Folia, in the mothership of Magus Craft.
Kanase Kensei was working in his lab inside the ship. On a white operation tabel laid Kanon.
Wearing a white and silver sleeveless skinsuit. A drop of tear near her eye.
Beatrice Basler entered the room. Still wearing her work suit, she opened two buttons of her shirt letting her bountiful breasts come out more.
"Man, this suit makes my shoulders stiff. So how is our angel-chan doing? I heard she lost her mask in the last fight?"
"That is not a problem. I had already predicted that the mask, which controlled her emotions and thinking, would break when she reached this level."
The mage spoke without any change in his voice, almost as if the one lying on the table was not his adopted daughter.
"Predicted it? How would you control her then, she is monstrous!"
"Artificial or not, she is an angel. Something like her can't be controlled by humans."
"Then how are we supposed to sell her?"
"Don't worry, once an angel faux is awakened she will fight on her instincts and then ascend, literally. Think of her like a ticking bomb."
The old man explained patiently.
"Then it might be sellable. But the only one to survive was your daughter?"
"I also predicted it, bastard child she may, but the Royal blood of Aldegyr still runs in her veins. Did you come to talk about such pointless matters only?"
The adoptive father said, his voice still devoid of any emotion.
"We have apprehended the 4th Primogenitor, he is with a sword shaman of the LKO. He was the one who disrupted the previous ritual. He will be the perfect marketing for us. Also La Folia is also on the same island, isn't it suitable?"
The old man stayed silent for a while before saying.
"Very well, he will make a suitable catalyst for her last ritual."
"Good, there will be no need to hesitate when using XDA-7 to her limits."
"Yes, your right." Kanase Kensei said, his spectacles lighting up with white light.
The drop of tear finally feel down from Kanon's eyes. A weak murmur unhead to anyone came from her mouth.
"Save me…. Onii-san…"
…
On the shore, after Kensei had greeted La Folia.
"How dare you act like nothing happened, Kensei. Where is Kanase Kanon?"
La Folia questioned, her voice brimming with the authority she wielded. Ignoring La Folia, the mage went on to explain what he did.
"We had procured seven bodies for this project, including Kanase Kanon. With the three she killed and the three she devoured she now has six spiritual centers In her body now."
"That angel faux ritual is a failed one, it is the poisioning of people." La Folia retorted.
"Spirtitual evolution becomes possible without surpassing the human body's capacity. We can create a entity closest to God, an angel."
With the explanation finished, the mage's glasses lit up with white light again. Finally Kojou couldn't stay silent with all this intellectual talk going on and said.
"Two questions, for now. Why the fuck is there a metal coffin behind you and how did your glasses light up, this ain't no anime."
Nobody answered that but the mood changed drastically. Kensei looked at Kojou like an ape.
"How is Magus Craft related to all this?" Yukina questioned hiding her embarrassement.
"Well you see, this company was a goner. So we developed battle automata, but that also was a fail, so we wagered this company on the angel project." Lowe Kirishima said in his delinquent like tone.
"So all of this is due to capitalism and corporate workers asking more wages?" Kojou said something stupid again.
"Senpai, please be serious!"
Kojou tsked at that. Lowe didn't believe that his situation was summed up like that. La Folia was wondering if Kojou would be able to save her and Kanon.
"Anyways, listen. We want two things, Princess, surrender to us, we will let you live, of course you would rather want to be dead after wards. And you two get a chance."
Lowe Kirishima opned the coffin, Kanon was laying in it. Kensei pressed a button and her body stood up, with white wings behind her and rainbow colored lines moving all over her body.
"Kanon-chan!" Yukina said seeing her friend like that.
"4th Primogenitor boy, give her good fight, it will be our sales pitch. Our product was able to defeat the strongest vampire in the world."
Beatrice Basler said with sadism in her voice.
"You want to use Kanon-chan as a weapon?" Yukina posed a question.
"Well yes, duh? It would do well if you didn't interfere." The blonde vampire said in a exasperated tone.
"Are you fine with this, Kensei?"
La Folia questioned the former royal court mage the last time. His response?
"Go, XDA-7. Complete the final ritual"
Kanon opened her eyes and focused them on Kojou. Kojou maintained his nonchalant attitude and said.
"So where is that angel who would destroy me?"
"You, are you joking?" Kensei finally said baffled by Kojou.
"Joking?" Kojou said seriously.
And the magical power which made the 4th Primogenitor the strongest vampire in the world fell on this island.
Everyone was unable to breathe, troubling to stand and looked positively horrified. La Folia on the other hand.
'Looks like Kanon will be saved today.'
"I will ask again, where is the angel who would destroy me. Because I only see three cockroaches with clothes and a pigeon infront of me."
Kojou said his voice coming out distorted due the magical interferences.Yukina looked at Kojou and said.
"Senpai?"
"What I am serious!" Kojou said and the magical power vanished like it never was there.
Even the angel faux, was unable to attack Kojou while he was like that. Only Kojou knew that what he used for a third of the full magical power. He only had four familiars afterall.
Before Yukina could jump at Kanon to use her Sekkarou, she was faced with Beatrice.
"I am your opponent, girl. Skewer her, Jaguars!" Her spear fought on its own, and Yukina saw through it.
"A Familiar taking a form of a weapon?"
"Indeed, it's called an intelligent weapon."
On the other side, La Folia was faced with a huge obstacles. Lowe had taken on his wolf therianthrope form and was keen on capturing La Folia.
"Let's finish what I started."
But before he could blinding golden light illuminated the shore. Kanon was finally awakened.
Her wings became three pairs and a rainbow eye opned infornt of each wing. Her mouth opened and a ear tearing scream came out of it.
"That is not the voice of an angel." Kojou said with a grin on his face.
The eyes on the wings widened and golden beams were fired at Kojou. Kojou as always used his trusty first familiar to block them.
The beams were blocked and Kojou jumped back. And as a test used his familiar.
"Come, Regulus-Aurum!"
The Lion once again roared and rushed at the angel to make it it's meal. But it phased through it.
Seeing that Kensei commented.
"It's useless, 4th Primogenitor. Kanon has already achieved a higher dimension than our own. No matter how strong your familiars are, they can't destroy something that isn't in this world."
'Disney villains do exist in this world, now that I have an idea on how to save Kanon, let's go with the plan.'
Kojou was very happy that Kensei himself had told how to save Kanon. Her situation is just like a helium balloon.
It keeps going up and up until you can't see it. So how to stop it? Simply tie it to a thing which can keep it down, the bigger the balloon the stronger and heavier anchor you need.
As for an angel, a Primogenitor's blood bond should be more than enough. But there was another dilemma, how will be Kojou able to drink her blood? She was already at the very least a four dimensional being, he couldn't bite her as of now.
'Should I awaken a new familiar? That seems to be the only way I can do it. But I don't really have the time to drink anyone's blood.'
Kojou was thinking all this while dodging the attacks of angel faux. And now he was finally understanding why many people underestimate him.
He doesn't control all his familiars, he is not the complete 4th Primogenitor. If he was, he could have easily resolved this situation.
'No worries. Kanase was hesitant in attacking me before and also shed tears back then. She must have her ego suppressed rather than destroyed. I just need to awaken it and she will be busy having an internal battle, giving me enough time to drink Himeragi's blood.'
Kojou's plan was good, this way Kanon would be back to normal while keeping her powers intact. But there was still one last barrier between him saving Kanon.
'If there was a cat, attacking it would probably send her into a dissonance, but there isn't a cat here. Himeragi isn't immortal so she can't, do I really need to check my immortality and regeneration? Well fuck it ,we ball!'
Kojou stopped dodging the attack and blocking them, and stood at a fixed place glaring at the angel faux.
"Bring it on, you pigeon. Let's see which is stronger, my body or your mind!"
Kojou taunted Kanon and it worked, in an instant all six beams of energy pierced his chest.
'Fuck it hurts! Bad idea!'
Kojou's chest was replaced with a gaping hole, the size of a baseball bat and his beating heart could be seen. He coughed up blood but still stood straight, he wouldn't fall down, his pride wouldn't allow it.
His eyes still glared at Kanon, and his plan worked. Too well in fact.
"Senpai!"
"Kojou!"
Both the princess and observer ran towards him, seeing him getting hit like that.
But the most violent reaction was by Kanon. She clenched her hair, and her eyes bled.
A massive snow storm covered the shore and all the water was frozen in a jiffy. And a pillar of ice which reached the sky was formed, inside of which Kanon had encased herself.
Beatrice and her gang went back to their boat to survive the calamity while Yukina raised a barrier using her Sekkarou.
This provided a safety from the cold to Kojou and La Folia along with herself. But to Kojou this didn't matter.
No matter how cold it was outside, it couldn't match the absolute zero level coldness of Alrescha-Glacies.
"Senpai, are you fine?"
"Don't worry much, I am immortal and have regeneration. Look, my wound has already healed."
Kojou showed his chest, which was mostly healed but still had a star marked scar on it.
"You deliberately got hit to stop her from fighting?" La Folia said, grasping Kojou's plan.
"Yes, but it worked too well, I didn't knew she considered me this important to her."
"Senpai, You are one of the few people who can talk to her without ogling her and helping her, I think you are pretty important to Kanon-chan."
"Is that so?" Kojou said.
"Kojou, why is your wound not healing completely?"
Kojou looked at his wound and found that the star-shaped scar was resisting his healing.
"Well it looks like her attack is also considered higher dimensional. Don't be scared or worry about what I do next."
Kojou said putting palm near the scar and with a bang and lightning beam, his chest was again replaced with a gaping hole, this time the size of a football.
Kojou died instantly, his body fell down, the sand visible through the hole in his chest.
Both the girl's present were too shocked to say anything. La Folia was able to maintain her rationality as she knew the powers of a Primogenitor.
But Yukina was not, to her seeing her senpai die was traumatising. She broke down and began to cry.
But within a few moments.Things happened as if they were reversed in time.
The flesh that was blasted, the blood which evaporated all came back and filled up the huge cavity in Kojou's chest, filling it up.
And in ten minutes there was movement and Kojou gradually stood up, looking no worse for wear, except his tattered shirt.
Yukina jumped at Kojou, and was caught in his arms.
"Don't do that again, senpai! I was so scared!" His chest was wet with warm tears.
"I told you not to worry. I was just checking if dying and reviving would cure the wound. Although I will not use such a method in the future, it feels weird being revived."
Yukina didn't say anything but continued to hug him and cry on his chest. This went on for fifteen minutes.
At the end Yukina was sitting down calmly and looking at Kojou's chest, so was La Folia.
"So it didn't work?" The albino beauty said.
"It looks like Kensei was right. I can't destroy something that doesn't exist in this world, for now that is."
"So you died for nothing, senpai?"
Yukina's voice scared Kojou a bit, he said.
"I had to do this sometime, now that I want to come back to life I have a peace of mind."
"So you have plans to do this again?" Kojou's fear only increased.
"No. But anyways I need to awaken a new familiar to save Kanase."
Kojou said directly coming to the point and avoiding the resurrection talk altogether.
"Why?" Yukina asked.
"I will tell you later, hurry, strip!"
Both the girl's looledd him with shock, and Kojou clarified.
"Does saying only the top, helps?"
"No, it doesn't." La Folia said with a giggle.
"Seriously senpai you are saying things like that even now? You really are too much."
But she loosened her knot, under the gaze of a curious princess and a thirsty vampire.
