Chapter 6: 6) After Effects
Through the curtains of his window beamed the sunlight and the sound of his alarm going off roared throughout his room. Peter felt dreadful. He slowly moved his hand towards his phone and picked it up, turning off his alarm and moving his hand back onto his forehead. He had a massive headache and even after turning off the alarm, he could hear a small ringing sound. The place where he was bitten was so itchy that Peter scratched the area so hard it turned a bright red, that he couldn't stop himself.
"Peter, get up it's time for school" yelled Aunt May from beyond Peter's bedroom door.
Peter was breathing heavily due to being out of breath, despite just waking up from sleep he felt like he just ran a marathon. He felt so warm and burning yet he couldn't stop shivering as he had chills running through his body. He slowly got out of bed and started to walk. His legs were tired and weak, slightly shaking. For Peter it looked like the entire room was moving in circles, he was dizzy and confused "One moment Aunt May" Peter softly replied for no one to hear. After a couple more steps Peter eventually tumbled making a loud thud.
"PETER?!?" yelled Aunt May as she rushed into Peter's room to see him collapsed on the floor completely unconscious. She kneeled on the floor and placed his head on her lap. "Peter. Please talk to me." she shrieked crying as Peter stayed motionless in her arms. "BEN CALL AN AMBULANCE" she roared.
10 MINUTES LATER
The sirens could be heard becoming louder and louder outside the house. Uncle Ben had opened the door and the paramedics ran to the door. "It's our son, he's upstairs straight ahead," Uncle Ben said also in tears with his hand on his mouth. The Paramedics rushed into Peter's room and checked his pulse.
"His pulse is weakening, he needs urgent medical attention. Get the stretcher we're transporting him to the hospital" Spoke the Paramedic and the other quickly went back to the Ambulance.
"What's Happening" murmured Peter, slightly awake with his eyes only slightly open. He was going to the bathroom when suddenly he was on the floor with a stranger flashing a light in his eyes.
"It's all going to be alright, Peter. We're going to get you the best help possible ok? Stay with us" Replied the stranger
Peter tried to stay awake and understand what was happening. He was drenched in sweat and hyperventilating. He felt pain everywhere in his body but didn't even have the energy to scream. He quickly went unconscious again.
Peter was quickly carried into the back of the ambulance with Uncle Ben and Aunt May sitting with him, praying that he would be alright. He was placed in the recovery position on the table. Peter slightly gagged as vomit dribbled out of his mouth.
"His condition is worsening!" yelled one of the Paramedics.
"There's a large swollen area on his neck, it looks like a bite," said the other Paramedic.
"What the hell bit him to make this bad!" replied the other.
Suddenly a series of jerking movements convulsed through Peter's body.
"He's having a seizure! Hold him down" Yelled one of the paramedics "Give me the valtoco nasal spray quickly!". While one held down Peter the other sprayed some Valtoco in his nose.
After 5 minutes of convulsing and his grandparents crying at what they were seeing, he eventually stopped jerking and was quickly placed back into the recovery position.
2 HOURS LATER
Peter was laid down in his white hospital room. His grandparents were sitting in these chairs in the corner of the room holding each other's hand, not letting Peter out of their sight. Peter was rigged up to multiple machines and had medical cables attached to him monitoring his blood pressure among other things. The heart-rate monitor was beeping in the background.
A man dressed in a white coat and glasses with a clipboard and paper in hand knocked on the door. Aunt May and Uncle Ben looked at the glass door and slowly walked out closing the door behind them. "Will he be alright" questioned Aunt May slightly teary.
"The truth. We don't know. We've run all the tests we could." The doctor flipped through the papers on his clipboard. "All we know is that he was bitten by a venomous spider. We collected a sample from where he was bitten but it doesn't show up on any record. He got bitten by a species of venomous spider not discovered yet, so we don't have any anti-venom and we have too little to try and produce our own and we can't give any other anti-venom because it may worsen his condition and we don't want to take that risk. It's now all up to Peter whether he lives or dies."
"Is there nothing else you or we can do" retorted Uncle Ben.
"All you can do is be with him throughout the entire process. I'm sorry. There's nothing else we can do." the doctor replied before walking away.
"Bloody useful he was. What do we pay these doctors for." Uncle Ben spoke angrily.
2 DAYS LATER
During this time Harry visits Peter after school and stays with him most of the day talking to him about all the funny things they did as kids and making fun of Flash. His father Norman Osborn stayed for around an hour the first time he got called but he couldn't stay any longer due to work, he was very busy at all times.
At the moment only Aunt May was at Peter's side. Harry was currently at school and Uncle Ben was at work. "Please Peter don't give up. If you can hear me, know me and Ben love so much. We've already lost everybody else God, please don't take our son away from us" Aunt May spoke softly holding Peter's hand in hers.
Peter's eyes slowly began to twitch and open. His eyes took a while to adjust to the bright light of the hospital room. He slowly looked over to see Aunt May with her eyes closed holding his hand praying. "Aunt May, what's wrong," he said. He was still confused and didn't know what was happening his vision still slightly blurry.
Aunt May quickly opened her eyes and stared at Peter with her mouth wide open, and she began to tear up again. She leaped at Peter embracing him "Ohh Peter, you're alright." she kissed his forehead "Thank God" she yelled.
Peter looked around the room and pieced together where he currently was but he was still confused. He didn't remember what happened at all. "What happened?" he replied.
