Chapter 21: Chapter 21
Jumping from the arm of the colossal Otherworld demon, he landed on its back and ruthlessly stabbed his claws into it. The tough scales of the creature, which could even break his sword, were like a piece of paper when they met his claw.
The monster let out a painful growl, trying to shake Damien from its back, but Damien was like a bug repeatedly stabbing his claws into the monster and hooking onto it.
Seeing it could not shake the bug off, it smashed its tail at its own back, the spiked tail was filled with so much power that it caused ripples in the air. Damien did not dodge. Seeing the human sill leeched onto its back, Abbysrend Colossus revealed a joyful expression as the foolish human would be crushed to death.
" what are you happy for " Damien's cold voice rang through its ears.
"Angelic Veil " he whispered, his voice calm yet cutting through the chaos. A radiant white light enveloped him, the ethereal glow of his angel spell stark against the battlefield's darkness. The Angelic Veil shimmered like a living shield, deflecting the black spiked tail..the shield rippled and disappeared but it had served its purpose.
His claws emitted a red light as he stabbed them again, with more ruthlessness and a calm coldness.
The Abyssrend Colossus thrashed violently, trying to shake Damien off its back. It twisted and turned, its figure heaving in a desperate, uncoordinated attempt to throw him to the ground. But Damien remained anchored, moving with a predator's grace, every step deliberate and measured.
The creature let out another roar, this one rippling through the air like a shockwave. Its claws swiped backward, aiming to impale Damien, but Damien pulled his claws out and leaped higher avoiding the range of its claw.
With preternatural calm, Damien drove his clawed hand into the base of the Colossus's neck, the red light on his body became more intense, Damien could feel a type of essence flowing into his body through the claws, the warm essence filled his body with power and warmth.
The feeling was somewhat addictive. He didn't know where this essence was from but he couldn't care, his mind was only filled with all kinds of chaotic thoughts...there was only a thin line between him and sanity now.
The beast screamed in fury, its molten eyes flashing brighter, but Damien's grip was unyielding.
The Colossus reared onto its hind legs, its immense form towering over the battlefield as it attempted to crush Damien against a jagged ruin. He jumped from its back just in time, landing lightly on a broken pillar before darting forward again.
This time, he wasn't aiming for its neck. With precision honed from battle, Damien leaped toward the beast's face, his movements calculated and terrifyingly serene. The Colossus swiped at him in midair, but its claws met nothing but empty space. Damien twisted around its attack and drove his clawed hand directly into one of its molten eyes.
The Colossus howled in agony, thrashing wildly as Damien withdrew his bloodied hand. The creature stumbled backward, clutching at its ruined eye with one massive claw. But Damien wasn't done. He pressed the attack, his movements relentless and methodical.
"Angelic Veil," he whispered again, reinforcing the radiant barrier around him. As the light intensified, the Colossus's movements grew more erratic, its corrupted form clearly struggling against the divine energy.
The creature swung its tail, and this time, Damien caught it mid-swing, planting his feet firmly against the ground. The sheer force of the impact cracked the earth around him, but he held on, his glowing form seemingly unshaken. With a sharp pull, he twisted the tail, breaking the appendage with a sickening crack. The Colossus roared again, its voice filled with fury and desperation.
Damien used the momentum of the broken tail to launch himself upward, soaring high above the beast.
Then, with calm, savage precision, he descended, driving his claws into the Colossus's exposed chest.
The beast convulsed, its molten eyes dimming as Damien tore through the armored flesh. Black ichor sprayed in all directions, but the Angelic Veil shielded him from its corrosive touch.
The Colossus let out a final, guttural roar before collapsing, its massive form hitting the ground with an earth-shaking crash. The battlefield fell silent, the oppressive aura of the Abyssrend Colossus dissipating into the cold night air.
Damien stood over the beast's corpse, his breathing steady despite the exhaustion evident in his bloodied form. The Angelic Veil began to fade, the divine light dissipating as the spell's power waned. The familiar warm essence gushed into his body, and the red light on his body intensified, his muscles rippled and the claws and his fangs grew longer.
" Aaarghhh !! " he screamed in pain while falling to his knees, he saw the source of the mysterious essence, below his feet the corpse of the Otherworld beast had almost been turned into a dry mummy. The source of the essence was the blood essence of the beast.
Before his heart could register the shock, a wave of pain assaulted him...this was not a physical pain but he felt as if a thousand needles were being stabbed into his mind.
His nose began to bleed and his vision darkened, but before he passed out he saw two anxious figures, the female one was no doubt, Instructor Anna...and the other, Instructor Charles.

Damien's mind drifted into a sea of darkness, fragmented dreams swirling around him like echoes of distant memories. The roars of the Abyssrend Colossus, the warmth of the essence surging through him, and the pain of something tearing at his very being—all of it lingered in the periphery of his unconscious mind.
Then, a faint voice called to him, muffled and distant, as if reaching through a thick fog. Slowly, the weight pressing down on his senses began to lift.
His eyes opened sluggishly, met immediately by the sterile white ceiling of the infirmary. The sharp scent of antiseptic filled his nostrils, and the faint hum of distant machinery buzzed in his ears. For a moment, he lay there in silence, his mind struggling to grasp where he was or how he had gotten there.
"You're finally awake."
The voice came from his left. Turning his head, Damien saw Instructor Charles sitting on a chair by his bedside. He looked at Damien with piercing eyes that seemed to hold a lot of questions.
"Instructor Charles…?" His voice was hoarse, barely audible. His throat felt parched, as though he hadn't spoken in years.
" You've been out for two weeks," he said in a cool voice and then continued: " There was a problem with the test, the otherworld beasts are making some huge moves...a Soldier level beast managed to sneak in while a Commander level beast held off, Anna from coming to meet you guys. "
" Oh " Damien finally understood why Anna had not come to save them, but he also understood that the Otherworld demons also had their focus on the students. They wanted to kill them before they could grow to pose a threat.
" Thankfully, you were there... I won't look into your secrets on the other hand we hope you keep most of your abilities a secret unless you are in a life-threatening situation... his majesty has a lot of expectations for you "
" I...." Damien was surprised but he did not speak...he was curious about this mysterious emperor of Light Continent.
" The others are awake and they all want to see you...it seems you somehow managed to win their hearts " Charles chuckled getting up from his seat.
" Huh...?," Damien asked, confused.
" Hmm.. You will understand, when you get out... your body is already healed. You might wanna rest for a bit "
He said walking out.
Damien looked at the door for a while, then he closed his eyes, recalling the scenes from his battle with the Abbysrend Colossus.
The more he remembered what took place, the more shocked he grew...from his long claws and fangs to the pulsing energy that filled his body... everything was out of the ordinary.
There was only one reason for this... Vampire Blood Awakening.
