Slayer: I Will Eradicate All Monsters

Chapter 13: Testing Force Strength.

---

A dark-haired youth with strands of silver in his hair opened the door into a dorm.

The youth was obviously Damien, and the room was, of course, his dormitory.

Sitting on their beds were Scott and Sony, who were both sitting on their beds in meditative positions while using the Force Refinement technique.

Damien went to his own bed and put down his sheathed sword.

He pulled out his mom's book from its hidden place and flipped it open.

Fortunately, when he opened it, the third page flashed with a golden light, and words and images began to appear on it.

This time there was no message from his mom, only the description of this new spell.

It was a defense-type spell. Guardian of Light was a powerful ability of the Angel race. The spells that made up this ability were divided into several levels. Only the first level was recorded on the third page.

The first level was known as Angelic Veil. By using Light-element mana, angels could create a powerful barrier of light that could block attacks.

It was quite similar to the Light Veil spell used by mages, but the Angelic Veil was stronger due to the sacred angelic aura it possessed, and furthermore, it had a certain effect against dark energy attacks.

Damien thoroughly read the instructions on the page and made sure he had remembered everything.

He didn't try to practice since Scott and Sony were here. He wanted to keep his angel race abilities a secret for now.

He closed his eyes and began the Force Refinement technique.

Hours passed, and when he couldn't handle the Force energy, he went to sleep.

---

The next few days were a repetitive cycle of hellish training from Instructor Charles, apart from the second day when he took them to the Restoration Elixir Pool.

Even Damien, born with innate strength, felt sore and drained all over.

If even he felt this way, then what about the other students?

Just like that, a week passed.

---

On a training field, a group of students stood in a straight line.

Before them was a tall man with a faint smile on his face. The man was Instructor Charles. Right now, he no longer maintained the facade of a bored teacher. It seemed he really enjoyed torturing them.

Looking at his smiling face that looked like he was asking for a beating, the students could only clench their fists as they couldn't beat him.

As if he could read their thoughts, he smiled even more provocatively, drawing their ire.

"Cough... cough... you have all shown great tenacity and endurance this week. None of you dropped halfway through this training..."

Everyone rolled their eyes when he said this. If it was really up to them, they would have all quit this hellish training, but that attack of his from the first day was like a sword hanging over their heads.

"You guys are all so childish... you were so focused on your hatred for this training that you considered it as torture."

"He's talking nonsense," someone muttered under their breath.

"Hmm," others nodded in agreement.

"You forgot that I was not doing this to torture you but to make you all stronger. Which one of you tested his or her strength over the course of the week?" he said, scanning the youths before him with a smile.

"This..." everyone muttered.

When his gaze met theirs, they all bowed their heads in shame.

"I was busy with my mana training this whole week."

"Hehehe... of course, you were all too tired to try it, even if you wanted to," Charles thought to himself.

"Okay, now you can take off your weights," he said.

"What?"

"We can finally take them off?" Jason asked.

"Of course. Did you take a liking to them and think of them as jewelry?" Instructor Charles rolled his eyes. When they had them on, they begged for them to be removed, but now, when he wanted them to remove them, they didn't want to.

As if they were afraid he would change his mind, they immediately took off the weights quickly.

When Damien took off his weight, it was like a mountain had been lifted off his shoulders.

"Now, do some regular workouts."

Doubting why he was asking them to do this, they all did it.

"My speed, agility, and strength have increased greatly," Damien thought. He looked around. It seemed everyone was also experiencing the same thing as him.

"So this training really has such good effects. My Force strength should be around the fifties now. I should have caught up to him now," Jason thought, looking at Damien.

"I wonder how I compare to Velina now," the red-haired girl from the Valehart clan thought.

Sara Velina had her eyes closed. No one knew what she was thinking.

Meanwhile, Damien was thinking:

"Coming to this Academy was a good choice. One day, I will fulfill the promise I made to Mom. Just wait."

"Alright, you should have all tested your physical strength now, but you need to test your Force strength as well."

The whole week he had made them practice Force Refinement every morning until they reached their limits. Under this continuous refinement, their Force strength was bound to have grown considerably.

"It is time to get serious with them," Charles thought.

---

They went back to the classroom.

"Now, starting from the first row, everyone will come to the Force strength testing pillar," Charles said, pointing to the tall crystal pillar that stood in the middle of the teacher's podium.

The first person was, of course, Sara Velina.

She walked to the Testing Pillar, her steps filled with confidence and calmness.

She clenched her fists and got into an attacking posture. Suddenly, her whole body blazed with intense golden Force aura.

"Woosh." She did a roundhouse kick. When she took the kick, there was a powerful sound akin to the sound of thunder, and even the air split before her.

"Boom." Her foot collided with the Testing Pillar, releasing an explosive sound. The crystal pillar was very strong as it did not even budge under her explosive strength.

A pair of numbers flashed instead, displaying the number 67.

"67? Such a monster. Very soon, she will be a Rank 1 Slayer. A 16-year-old Rank 1 Slayer," Charles thought to himself, shocked, but he did not let it show on his face.

However, apart from him, the students were shocked and filled with admiration.

The girl from Valehart was also looking at Velina with intense fighting power.

"Not bad," Charles said with an indifferent expression on his face.

Velina jumped off the podium. At the same time, Damien went up.

When she passed by Damien, she muttered:

"Don't disappoint me."

Damien was surprised, but he said nothing and walked up to the podium.

He stared at the crystal pillar before him. He was supposed to test his Force strength on the first day but forgot about it.

He clenched his fists and directed his Force energy into them.

A grayish light appeared on his fists. Without hesitation, he punched out with all his might.

There was an explosion of air, followed by a thunderous sound.

"Bang!" When his fists hit the pillar, the pillar trembled for a second.

65, the number appeared quickly on the screen.

"Damn it, those two are really leaving us behind in the dust," someone said.

Everyone agreed, looking at Damien and Velina.

"I thought I had caught up to him, but he is still far ahead of me," Jason thought.

"Apart from Velina, it seems this guy who popped up from nowhere should not be taken lightly," the red-haired girl thought.

Damien jumped down. Instructor Charles was looking at the crystal pillar thoughtfully.

No one noticed it, but he saw the crystal pillar shake. What kind of strength could make the pillar shake?

Since this pillar was used to test apprentice slayers, only a Force strength well above 70 could make it shake or tremble.

But Damien's Force strength was measured to be 65.

There was also a possibility that his physical body strength exceeded that of his Force strength. The testing pillar measured the strength of Force energy, not physical strength.

"This kid's physical strength is comparable to a newbie Rank 1 Slayer. Among the other races, even such physical strength is impossible... Damien Bircher... just what are you?"

Very quickly, the tests ended. Apart from Damien and Velina, only the red-haired girl made it into the 60s, scoring 61.

Jason was also close to the mark, scoring 59. The rest of the class followed behind, with the lowest being 45.

"Not bad. You batch of students are better than the previous ones. Now, I have important news for you."

Everyone paid attention when he said this.

Charles' expression was solemn.

"It is about the Demon Hunting Expedition."
