Chapter 69: Only Draco Got Hurt

"Although you said you'd leave at noon, I still want to remind you that the library closes at 8 PM," Irma Pince said, guiding Chu Yang to the restricted section.

In her memory, Chu Yang often left just as the library closed. Without a reminder, he'd probably spend the night locked inside.

In the quiet library, Madam Pince's voice briefly appeared and then faded away. The sunlight outside the library windows gradually dimmed.

Before Chu Yang knew it, his desk had piled up with numerous long-titled books. He had not only fully memorized the content of Apparition and Undetectable Extension Charm, but also read through several spell mastery notes from various experts. Among them were insights on the Undetectable Extension Charm by Newt Scamander, the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Newt was particularly skilled at using the Undetectable Extension Charm. The suitcase he carried was practically a miniature world. His imaginative use of the charm gave Chu Yang many new ideas, immersing him deeply in study.

"I understand how acquiring knowledge can be captivating, but sometimes you need to know when to take a break," a deep, wise voice spoke beside him.

Looking up, Chu Yang saw Dumbledore, wearing a blue robe, gazing at him with concern. "Today is Halloween, after all," Dumbledore reminded him.

"I thought it wasn't closing time yet..." Chu Yang awkwardly began tidying the books on his desk, preparing to return them to the shelves.

Dumbledore patted his shoulder, stopping him. "Go to the Great Hall. The Halloween feast is about to begin. Leave the books here; Madam Pince will take care of them."

"Please convey my apologies to her," Chu Yang said hastily before sprinting towards the Great Hall.

...

The Great Hall was filled with people, but the feast had not yet started. For Halloween, seating arrangements were casual—students from all years and houses mingled freely, sitting wherever they pleased.

Chu Yang glanced around, looking for a quiet corner, but soon heard someone calling his name.

In the center of the hall, Draco Malfoy was clearing a large space at the table with his cronies, Goyle and Crabbe. The table was filled with food and surrounded by presents, in a display so exaggerated that it attracted everyone's attention. Draco, oblivious to the amused stares, waved proudly at Chu Yang, clearly trying to show off.

Come on! Come over here!

Everyone around was watching the spectacle, and for a moment, Chu Yang felt like a panda in a zoo.

He cleared his throat and deliberately avoided Draco's expectant gaze. Then, he noticed Hermione waving at him.

Quickly, Chu Yang made his way to Hermione's table, leaving Draco awkwardly standing in the middle of the hall.

To make matters worse, Ron stood up alongside Hermione and made a mocking face at Draco.

If this were Draco's own living room instead of Hogwarts' Great Hall, he'd probably be throwing plates by now.

"That Malfoy guy really doesn't know when to stop," Hermione said with a shiver, recalling Draco's over-the-top behavior. "He still doesn't realize how much Chu Yang hates being the center of attention."

"If Chu Yang weren't a boy, I'd think Malfoy was trying to court him," Ron added jokingly. But as soon as the words left his mouth, even he looked startled.

Suddenly, Ron, Hermione, and Harry all turned to Chu Yang with puzzled expressions.

"Damn it, don't look at me like that! I'm not into that sort of thing!" Chu Yang, exasperated, hurriedly explained. "If I'm not mistaken, it's probably because of his father."

"His father came to the school last time, clearly to cause trouble for me, but nothing came of it. He must have other plans."

The trio nodded in understanding. With Chu Yang's reputation as a prodigy and an orphan, it wasn't surprising that some families were taking an interest in him.

"But if Draco keeps this up, the whole school will think he's into you," Hermione said with a mischievous smile, clearly enjoying the drama.

"What am I supposed to do, beat him up again? That doesn't make sense," Chu Yang shrugged, feeling utterly helpless. He wasn't afraid of anyone being aggressive; he just didn't know how to handle someone being overly friendly.

"Enough about that. Harry, how's your training going?" Chu Yang asked, shifting the conversation to Harry. "The inter-house competition is coming up, and you're the Seeker. It must be stressful, right?"

Harry smiled sheepishly. "It was at first. I thought you'd be the Seeker for Slytherin, and the pressure was really intense. But after you said you wanted to focus on studying and declined the Seeker invitation, it's been easier."

Quidditch practice took up a lot of free time, which clashed with Chu Yang's desire to dive deep into magical studies. His interest in Quidditch paled in comparison to his fascination with spell knowledge.

If, by his second or third year, Chu Yang had more free time, he might consider participating in Quidditch matches.

A little while later, Neville also arrived just in time, sitting down beside Chu Yang and the others. The Halloween feast officially began, with everyone celebrating together, exchanging toasts, and enjoying the lively atmosphere.

Even Goyle and Crabbe were feasting, leaving Draco sulking alone.

In the Great Hall, it seemed like Draco was the only one left out.
