Second Life of a Dragon Raising Hunter

Chapter 376

Chapter 377: After Discharge from the Hospital

After getting discharged from the hospital, the first thing Yeon-woo did was move.

Staying in the dormitory was only allowed until graduation day. With only a few weeks left, it was time to move the belongings from the dorm to the new house he had prepared in advance.

The stuff mainly consisted of children’s toys and some furniture purchased as needed; it would be a piece of cake for Yeon-woo to send them directly to Relin’s Warehouse.

However, the process of moving could still be a good experience for the children.

“But it was moved so easily.”

The distance between the new house and the dormitory wasn’t far, and more than half of them, including Nea, Shar, and Yeon-woo, could carry a queen-size bed with one hand, making the moving process incredibly simple.

The newly acquired house was a spacious one with a yard. It wasn’t a place Yeon-woo chose himself; he had asked Riley to find a nice-looking house, and this was what she came up with.

Didn’t the boss say that living in a house like this was acceptable? What kind of drama was he watching?

“Is this our new house!?”

Shar exclaimed as she turned around in the center of the house after all the moving was done. Even though it was a bit messy with moving boxes, it was still neat enough for Yeon-woo to love it.

“I’m okay with living alone in a small room, but if that’s the case, I was told to keep it tidy…”

Thanks to that, he had no choice but to learn the ins and outs of cleaning like any housewife. After all, Claire’s advice to the pre-reincarnation Yeon-woo had been like a beacon of hope; he followed everything except the advice to not overdo it.

He was such a mess that he couldn’t even follow the most important thing. There was no denying that.

“Yeah, it’s our home. We’ll bring Momo here, and Nea and Dawn will live here too.”

“Really!? Yay!!”

“Finally, the family reunion…!!”

Watching the two kids dash out to the yard in excitement, Yeon-woo couldn’t find the words.

Indeed, up until now, the family hadn’t been able to live together under one roof. Especially Momo. Yeon-woo was out of the house most days, so he couldn’t leave Momo there.

So, he had been relying on Yuri and Riley to look after her. In a way, they were co-owners of Momo. Ultimately, it would still be the same issue that he would often leave home.

“Then, how about asking Riley to live here too? That would work out!”

“Is it okay for her, as her nominal assistant, to do that…?”

Honestly, Yeon-woo thought he wouldn’t like it. Living in the same house as a superior? That sounded like a nightmare.

He wanted to be a boss who would preferably let things be loose during regular times…

“Then, I’ll at least ask her. We’re friends, so it shouldn’t be too hard for her to say no.”

Fortunately, Nea offered to ask. Thank goodness; if Yeon-woo had asked, it could have turned into a power struggle. Though honestly, would she even come? If it were him, he wouldn’t.

As Yeon-woo settled down comfortably, sorting his things while playing with the kids—

Ding-dong, ding-dong. Ding-dong-ding-dong-ding-dong! The violent ringing of the doorbell jolted through the house.

“Who on earth is it?”

With an annoyed sigh, as Yeon-woo approached the front door, he caught sight of Riley looking extremely flustered.

Since entering society, he had only seen her in a white doctor’s coat or a suit, but now here she was, wearing the maid’s outfit she had on during their first meeting beneath a thick coat.

“Wha-What’s going on?”

“I was called here, but what’s this about?”

“…Are you suddenly saying you want to live in our house? Just like that?”

“Isn’t it me who should be saying ‘suddenly’ here?”

That was true; Yeon-woo wasn’t the one who had brought up suddenly living together. So, there was no argument there.

“No, what’s the point of rushing over to live in the same house as your boss? I can’t understand what’s been happening lately.”

It wasn’t just Riley; Baek In-hwa and Nea were also puzzling. Everything going on around him didn’t make any sense. What was happening? Cognitive dissonance was real.

“Yeon-woo, you’re misunderstanding something; I don’t dislike serving others. Do you see this honorable uniform?”

Riley said as she tugged at the front of her maid’s outfit.

What? She wasn’t being forced to wear it?

“Yeah. There weren’t any customers while working in the library. If I truly hated serving, there would be no reason to attend to you.”

With a serious face, Riley continued, then her expression transformed into one of bliss as she cupped her cheeks with her hands.

Scary. This was a face Yeon-woo had never seen from Riley before, not even once since the reincarnation.

“And not just socially, but I see you finally wish to receive domestic service, which fills me with overwhelming joy! I’ll finally be able to fulfill the tasks bestowed upon me!”

Yeon-woo felt a kind of indescribable dread from Riley, who genuinely seemed elated.

This isn’t what I envisioned! Thoughts lately seemed to be going terribly astray, and he found himself drowning in a sense of helplessness.

“Wooow, Riley unni! Come in!!”

“Um, you’re here.”

The children and Nea welcomed Riley. Smiling sweetly, Riley walked into the house, then grabbed a mop she had pulled out from somewhere and declared,

“This cool and heavy sensation… It’s time to return to serving….”

Who exactly are you fighting?

*

“How peaceful.”

“Ar-ar-ar!!”

Momo, seated in Yeon-woo’s lap, barked adorably as if responding to his words.

Yes, yes! That’s a good boy! As Yeon-woo scratched Momo’s head, Momo began to nip gently at his hand. It didn’t hurt; it was probably just a sign that Momo was playing…

Or maybe it’s because my body is sturdy?

Fearing the answer, as he looked at Momo, the pup kept nipping at his hand with that cute face.

Thank goodness. If it had a vicious look, what would he have done? In that case, he would have had to accept that he had plummeted to the bottom of the family power rankings.

“Arf arf.”

“Yeah, good boy….”

While scratching Momo’s head, who was nibbling at his fingers like dog treats, Yeon-woo felt like he had become a wealthy aristocrat.

Isn’t it something typical in movies or dramas? Those wealthy folks just sit on the sofa, petting their pets all day.

Of course, objectively, the current world wasn’t peaceful at all. Somewhere, the Demon King’s army and the Mage Church were waging war; the Demon King still had five remaining, threatening the world’s peace.

To call it peaceful would be a gross understatement; it was more lifeless than ever.

Still, people should revel in peace. Without mental solace, one will surely cease to exist soon. If reality isn’t peaceful, one must create a false peace and enjoy it.

That was Yeon-woo’s way of powering up. To relish in this peace was to gather strength, contemplating the everyday life that would remain when battles commenced.

‘I may seem like I’m not thinking about anything, but it’s all part of the strategy….’

“Yeon-woo, may I have your feet up for a moment?”

“Yes.”

As Yeon-woo lifted his feet, the vacuum cleaner Riley had brought slid underneath. As he briefly glanced at Riley’s face, it looked quite shiny, almost as if she were ecstatic.

The expression could be described as one feeling the thrill of having a purpose in life.

‘I just don’t get it….’

Is it because she was created to serve Relin? Why does she find joy in serving others?

It was something Yeon-woo simply couldn’t comprehend.

“Hm, since this is the case, I guess I’ll do a bit of maintenance on my gear for the first time in a while…”

Murmuring that, Yeon-woo set Momo down on the sofa. Immediately, Momo began barking loudly at the roaring vacuum cleaner.

Why do dogs always bark at vacuum cleaners?

Pondering that, he stood before the stairs leading down to the basement. Even with fluorescent lights installed, the dimly lit staircase reminded him of a certain Korean film.

It felt like it would be a precise weaving of fate.

However, once he descended those stairs and opened the door, what lay before him was a bright, spacious area. This place was, in fact, the Body Training Room.

From the moment one awakens to Aura, an individual finds it increasingly difficult to fully tap into their strength.

That’s when Aura users evolve into something akin to domestic destruction machines.

What then of Experts and Masters?

Of course, as one’s realm increases, one’s ability to control their strength also rises, so it doesn’t become a huge problem. But, no matter how patient a person is, if they keep holding back, eventually they’ll blow their top.

A regular outlet for strength is necessary. That applied not just for Yeon-woo, but also for Nea and Shar.

Since there was also a need for a space to conduct experiments and research, Yeon-woo chose to create a Body Training Room in the basement.

How great it is to use it as both a maintenance area! With a pleased smile, Yeon-woo gazed at the weapons sprawled on the floor.

Hunters are bound to become attached to their weapons. Yeon-woo was no different. He had poured so much effort into the spear he used before his reincarnation.

Not only was it hard-won, but it had also saved his life countless times. It was unfortunate that he could no longer encounter it.

The same went for the Doppleganger and White. The Doppleganger was still taking on various hard tasks, while White was the one who had cut through numerous crises.

“Whoa.”

Seated down amidst the tools and weapons, Yeon-woo removed his prosthetic limb.

The prosthetic had clung to him like part of his body, but it slipped off effortlessly.

“You’ve worked hard. You’ll keep working hard, but you also need some down time.”

Weapons don’t have feelings. Yet, despite that, one tends to project emotions onto them, for they are the Hunter’s best friends.

With care, he oiled and polished them, replacing any worn sections and tightening loose parts.

As he dedicated himself to maintenance, beads of sweat began to dot Yeon-woo’s forehead.

Immersed in silently maintaining his weapons, a green light began to rise around him. It surged from the prosthetic limb.

As if blessing him, the glow circled around the weapons laid on the floor, then soon burrowed into Yeon-woo’s body.

In that space, only Yeon-woo was blissfully unaware of what was unfolding, simply polishing his weapons.

A rich green similar to life glowed from Yeon-woo’s body, and that was all.
