Chapter 5: Chapter 5

Entering the home of someone as prestigious as Nephis, or any girl for that matter was a future Sunny could never even conceive himself of partaking in. Now, while he would never refuse such an opportunity, inviting a man into your home who looks like he just got hit by a truck while also being shirtless would never be good for appearances.

This idea, despite any words being conveyed, seemed to resonate with Nephis as he followed her briskly into the nearest clothing store. There, Sunny was able to pick out a wide variety of all black clothing which he could wear. The gesture didn't go unnoticed by Sunny, in fact, Nephis had to force him to enter the store and buy clothes.

Deep down, Sunny had a fear of becoming a burden onto the people around him that only made itself more apparent the more he received favours from Nephis. To her, they were merely gestures to ensure the young man who had declared himself her friend was safe and sound, yet Sunny took it much deeper than that.

Despite all this, the two found themselves standing in front of the doors of a house that was truly gigantic. Sunny had heard of castles in movies, however all paled in comparison to the truly monumental structure that stood before him. It's true size never made itself apparent from up close, and as Nephis gently knocked the door and it was pushed open, Sunny almost stumbled.

As far as his eye could see, walls of polished marble were traced intricately to form walls, a roof over his head, and even the ground he walked on. Everywhere within the building seemed to be bathed in light and pure smothering white as Sunny walked through it. His darkened clothing only served to help him stand out even more-so than he once had previously.

Nephis did all the speaking on his behalf. With a nod to an attendant, she let them know that Sunny would be spending the night at the home before pulling him up the stairs. Everything about the home was graceful, even the noises that were made as his torn shoes contacted the ground. Which was surprising as he never even thought his steps could be described as graceful.

Finally, Sunny found himself in a room that were fit for a king. Turning his head slowly to face Nephis, he cocked his head to the side. "Please don't tell me this is the guest room." Nephis merely smiled innocently in response, almost teasing his lack of knowledge on the upper class. "Yes, it is. And this is where you will be sleeping tonight. Do not be afraid to contact a servant for anything you may need, or if you need to, contact me." Sunny nodded silently and let out a slight yawn. Removing his shoes, he made his was to the bed before falling onto the bed.

He didn't even have any time to appreciate the softness of the mattress as the pent-up fatigue that had overwhelmed his mind quickly was released. For the first time in nearly ten years, Sunny allowed himself to fall into deep sleep.

Sunny had slept so soundly he hadn't even noticed Nephis walking next to his bed. Silently, she shut the door behind her as she crouched down to study his gaze. Despite the suspicious glances he shot at everyone when he was awake, Sunny's face was quite peaceful as he slept.

Extending a hand, Nephis placed her hand on his face, enjoying the contact for a moment as a blush quickly grew on her face. Her hands moved upwards, slowly, she ran her hands through his hair. She didn't know what shampoo he used, but it surely suited him. His hair was silky smooth and easy on the eye despite his roguish appearance.

And the tattoo, it coiled it's way around Sunny's chest to his forearm almost imperceptibly. Nephis tentatively moved down the side of his shirt so she could study it for a moment before pulling her hand back. 'What am I doing?' she thought to herself, yet her hand's didn't stop moving.

Her hand was gripping his wrist before she knew it. His wrists were so small that they fit in her hands without even a need for any strain, she knew it was because of his rough upbringing but she found herself quickly growing fond of the feeling. Regardless, she pulled her hand away from his own and studied his expression once more.

'He think's I'm an angel. His angel. Might as well not disappoint'

With that, she snuck out of his room. A sigh of relief escaped her lips as she walked into her room, an impassive expression continuously settled upon her face till she shut the door and was left to her own devices. Then, Nephis did something that she would never allow anyone to see her do.

Leaping onto her bed, she buried her face into her pillow as she kicked at her bed like a child throwing a tantrum. Her face was so red that the contact with the bed left it's imprints onto her face as a stupid grin settled itself across her face. With a joyful hum, she went over all the memories she had made with Sunny.

She was surprised how quickly she had gone from being a stranger in his books to someone he could trust with something as intimate as viewing what she presumed was his parents grave, however, she wouldn't dare to complain.

A frown then settled itself across her face as she remembered the memories of Sunny's head laying absentmindedly on the table in a pool of his own blood, or when he was continuously getting barraged in the face from students across the class. Her frown quickly turned into a disgusted snarl as she shot up from her bed.

Although she was surprised at the rate in which she had grown on Sunny, in such little interaction Sunny had managed to do the same to her. And watching him continuously get abused by members of the school and being powerless to help him left a disgusted expression on her face.

"I'll deal with them in the morning." Nephis grumbled to herself, and she too allowed the sweet embrace of unconsciousness to claim her. Sunny had slept so well he had to be forced awake by one of the attendants who had made their way into his room, his eyes shot open with suspicion at the new faces, quickly relaxing upon recalling Nephis words.

"Do you know...where the bathroom is?" Sunny asked slowly. The attendant nodded before briskly making their way towards the only other door in the guest room, it should have been obvious to most, but certainly not a child who hadn't been living with a roof over his head for most of his life.

The bathroom was just as lavish as the rest of the house, Sunny took a moment to admire all the skin and hair care products that they had before meticulously applying them to himself. With the hospitality Nephis had shown him, looking his best was the least he could do.

After half an hour of intensive work, Sunny had managed to look what he thought was his best. His hair still hung loosely over his face; however, he had the glow of someone who had put intense effort into their appearance. Additionally, he no longer wore the rags he had managed to procure from the trash, instead, a modest black shirt and beige shorts were now his attire.

Nephis met him as he left his room, a pleased smirk settled across her face as she took in his now appearance. And with that, it was time for them to go to school.
