Save & Reset

Chapter 18: Pro Bomber

Just like many other days, there were undead that attacked us from the valley, and I was the one who killed them willingly. The sun was standing up front, and Mark and Carl were nowhere to be seen.

"What are you doing?" said Carl.

Kevin and Carl were identical twins, so they both had green hair and green eyes. The only way I could differentiate between them was Carl having a scar close to his neck… and also their weapons.

"I'm making some potion," I said.

I took out the cauldron and was mixing the Undead Cores that I acquired by hunting the skeletons, with some herbs and the Mana Infuser that I made previously.

"Are you an [Alchemist]?"

"I'm not an alchemist, but I can make potions."

"How is that? I thought only alchemists could brew potions."

"That's absurd. Alchemy is about mixing the right stuff together. Although alchemists have a lot of skills regarding the potion-making process, that doesn'tmake them the only people who vould brew potion."

Many players thought of Classes as their only way of getting power, which was wrong. Classes were more like a power-up in a specific region and do not cross the ways of getting stronger.

"I don't understand?"

"Well, let me give you an example. You're holding a knife in your pocket. Can you tell me why you carry it around?"

"As an archer, I have a huge disadvantage in close-range combat, so I have a knife to protect myself even though I'm not a thief… wait, are you telling me you use alchemy to cover your disadvantages?"

"Bingo."

I brought out the cauldron and mixed the Undead Cores that I collected over the past four days with the Mana Infusing Potion. The mixing process took less than an hour.

[ You have brewed a small amount of "Unstable Mana Mixture" Potion ]

"It looks like it's finished," I said, while grinning mischievously.

"What did you make?" said Carl, who was staring at my work the whole time.

"You'll see."

I poured the cauldron's content inside one of the glasses I brought with me… slowly.

"[Appraisal]" I said.

[ Bottle of D-grade Unstable Mana Mixture

Potion Rank: Uncommon

—————

A very unstable and destructive solution between Mana and Dark Mana, brewed by a professional. ]

The walls were getting closer and closer as I went deeper into the valley with a bottle in my hand. The crevices between the walls gave this valley a natural look.

I aimed my eyes at the thinnest possible passage in the valley and threw the bottle at the walls… and then BOOM-!

Undead had their own special type of mana, called Dark Mana. Dark Mana had many characteristics, and one of them is being one of the most destructive mana types in [Doomed Fantasy]. Mixing many types of Mana together wasn't a safe option and [Alchemists] usually don't do it, since it won't cause anything but harm.

Although the mixture for making Unstable Mana Mixture was a simple and low-cost process, the content could blow up if not handled correctly, and upon explosion, it only harmed the environment.

"W-What happened?!" said Mark.

Mark and Kevin returned to the camp after hearing about the explosion. I turned around and saw the terrified look on the others' faces.

"I blew up the walls to block the path for the undead."

"Couldn't you have done this all along?"

"… I needed some Undead Cores."

Of course, I could have blown up the valley days ago since I had enough Cores. But I wanted to hunt down some undead to level up and test out my newfound swordsmanship.

"Then our job here is finished, right?"

"Nope, we are not finished yet."

All this time, I was the only one who hunted down the undead that came from the valley, and even though I was the one who wanted this, seeing the party that I asked for pointless was a bit sad for me.

'It's time to actually use them,' I thought while smiling for no reason.

I opened my [Status Window].

I looked at my skills and found that [Shadeless] leveled up without me knowing. Skills in this world were a bit strange; some level up as you use them and some don't. I didn't know how most skills level up, but at least I knew the basics.

For example, each skill had its own Lv cap. Just like [Save & Reset] which had the level cap of one while the others clearly didn't.

I distributed my points evenly and opened my [Inventory] to put the cauldron inside, while checking to see if everything was okay.

"Alright, we're going to leave, so grab everything you want to," I said.

"Where are we going?" said Kevin with worried eyes.

"… we are going north side of the city."

"Why?"

"There is a possibility that north might (100%) be targeted by the undead."

"So we are going to do the same job as we did here?" said Mark.

"Um, yes, but there is a difference… You guys are going to do the most, while I'm doing my own job."

"Your own job?!"

"I'm going to find out who is behind this rampage."

Well, I knew who they were, so I didn't need to re-find them. My job was to find a way to stop them, and that wasn't an easy job for a guy who just turned Lv 26. But thankfully, i had a way to solve that.
