RWBY: Oscar the gamer

Chapter 29: Not a normal Dungeon Part 4

Oscar's hand instinctively went to the side of his face, where the Grimm mask had once been, and he sighed in relief as his transformation slowly wore off, his body returning to its normal form. His wings retracted, the bone armor that had covered his body faded, and the eerie, crimson glow in his eyes softened. For a moment, he felt disoriented, his muscles aching from the strain of the Grimm Human Hybrid transformation. Yet, there was a strange sense of satisfaction. "It hurt less to transform this time," he muttered to himself, his voice more human again.

But before he could gather his thoughts, that laugh echoed through the darkened fog, sending a chill down his spine. The same eerie, mocking laugh he'd heard when he first transformed into the hybrid. The sound was unmistakable, echoing off the walls in an unnerving pattern.

"This better not have been something important in the future," Oscar muttered, narrowing his eyes as he turned toward the source of the sound. He took a cautious step back, his hand hovering near his inventory, ready for anything.

The sound grew louder, until suddenly a ghost-like figure appeared before him. It floated in the air, its form barely visible in the mist, like an apparition made of smoke and shadow. The laugh echoed again, this time sharper and more malevolent, reverberating through the surrounding fog.

Oscar tensed. He could feel the malevolent energy radiating from the entity. His System pinged in his mind, but he didn't need it to tell him that this was something far more dangerous than the creatures he'd fought so far.

"System," he called out, his voice steady, though his body was still on high alert. "What the hell is this thing?"

The System responded almost immediately, its cold, monotone voice filling Oscar's mind.

[ Detected: Spectral Entity

Danger Level: A+++

Description: A powerful, incorporeal being, tied to the twisted nature of this dimension. It feeds on fear and the corrupted energies of this place. Warning: If left unchecked, it may possess or manipulate the host.]

Oscar's grip tightened on Midnight Fang, his instincts kicking in as the ghostly figure moved closer, its translucent body flickering in and out of view, like a wisp of smoke trying to take shape. The laugh grew more distorted, as though mocking Oscar's every move.

"Possess or manipulate the host?" Oscar repeated, his brow furrowing. "This thing can control me?"

The entity's form shimmered, and then it spoke, its voice a twisted, distorted version of human speech, laced with malice. "You are nothing but a puppet. I am the one who pulls the strings now."

Oscar's grip on Midnight Fang tightened further, but the words of the System echoed in his mind: If left unchecked, it may possess or manipulate the host.

Oscar gritted his teeth. He couldn't let this thing control him. He needed to end it before it became too powerful.

His eyes narrowed as he took a step forward, adjusting his stance. "I don't think so," he said, his voice firm. "If anything, it's you who's going to be the puppet."

With that, Oscar called upon the Fire Ball in his hand, the dark flames swirling as he aimed it directly at the ghostly figure. Before he could release the attack, however, the entity vanished, reappearing behind him with an eerie laugh.

The laugh echoed in his ears as the spectral entity surged forward with unnatural speed, its ghostly hands reaching for him. Oscar's instincts kicked in, and he dodged to the side just in time, feeling the cold touch of the entity's fingers graze his arm.

"Dammit!" Oscar cursed under his breath. His mind raced as he struggled to keep his composure, sensing that the creature was more than just a simple apparition.

[ Detected: Entity's Influence

Warning: Entity attempting to manipulate emotions. Host must resist. Focus is critical. ]

Oscar's heart pounded in his chest, but he knew what he had to do. He had to stay calm, or risk losing control. The entity was powerful, but not invincible. He still had his strength, and he wasn't about to let some ghostly trickster take him down.

Without hesitation, Oscar raised Midnight Fang and swung it in a wide arc, sending a Wind Slice toward the entity. The slicing gust of wind cut through the fog, but the ghost was too quick, evading the attack with unnatural ease.

Oscar's eyes glowed with determination. He wasn't going to let this thing play with him any longer.

"Let's see how you like this," Oscar muttered under his breath.

He prepared a new move—a technique he hadn't had to use often, but one he was sure could hit the entity hard. His Fire Ball glowed with a dark, ominous energy as he infused it with Wind Dust and Thunder Dust, combining them into a volatile mix of fire, wind, and electricity.

He thrust his hand forward, sending the charged, volatile ball toward the entity. The ghost-like creature hesitated, sensing the danger too late. The attack hit its mark.

The resulting explosion of energy lit up the surrounding fog, sending shockwaves through the area. For a moment, there was only silence, the air thick with the remnants of the blast. Oscar stood tall, watching the smoke clear.

When it did, the entity was gone. The fog remained, thick and oppressive, but the malevolent presence had dissipated.

Oscar let out a deep breath, his body still tense but relieved. "That was too close," he muttered, wiping his brow.

The System responded, its usual cold, detached tone a reminder of the dangers in this place.

[ Entity Eliminated

Experience gained: 100+

Host Level 27 → Level 28 ]

Oscar smirked at the message. "Well, that was one hell of a fight." He glanced around cautiously. "But something tells me this dungeon isn't done with me yet."

With renewed determination, Oscar pressed on, knowing that more dangers lay ahead. But he was ready. He had to be.

Oscar then sent up a [Fire Ball] he needs to check something, as it was a normal red fire as then he tryed something on his left arm as [Black Fire ball] was in his arm

Oscar stared at the [Black Fire Ball] he had conjured in his left hand, the dark flames swirling ominously. Unlike the regular red fire he had used previously, this one was devoid of light, its edges flickering in shadows rather than brightness. It felt heavier, almost as if it had a life of its own, drawing power from the anger and hate that simmered deep within him. The flames moved with a sense of hunger, as though they were waiting for a command to consume everything in their path.

"Guess the transformation has some perks," Oscar muttered, his eyes narrowing as he inspected the ball of darkness. He could feel the connection to his own emotions—anger, frustration, and resentment—flowing into the spell, feeding it. The more intense his feelings became, the hotter and more powerful the black flames grew.

Ding!

The System notification appeared in his vision, confirming what he had suspected:

[ New Spell: Black Fire - Level 2

Black Fire is a dark version of fire that is black in color. It doesn't emit light and is fueled by the host's anger and hate. This spell is exclusive to the Monster Path. For now, it appears to function similarly to a normal fireball. ]

Oscar clenched his fist around the spell, causing the flames to flicker and pulse with even more intensity. "So, this is what happens when I tap into that side of me..." he mused, feeling a slight thrill of power from the dark energy. "I don't know if I like it, but I'll take it."

He carefully hurled the Black Fire ball into the distance, watching as it flew through the air like a shadowy projectile. When it hit the ground, there was no explosion of light—only a deep, unsettling darkness that spread outward, absorbing the surroundings as if it was suffocating everything it touched.

The ground scorched beneath it, turning black and crumbling as though the very essence of life was being drained away.

Oscar's eyes widened, impressed by the sheer potency of the spell. "Damn. This... this is something else."

He took a few steps back, feeling the weight of the power in his hands. [Black Fire] was unlike anything he had used before. It wasn't just destructive; it was corrosive, corrupting whatever it touched.

His mind raced as he considered the possibilities. This new power, if harnessed properly, could be incredibly useful—though he had to be cautious. He couldn't let this dark energy take over. There was a dangerous line between controlling it and letting it consume him entirely.

Oscar let the Black Fire fizzle out, his breathing heavy as he regained control. "Okay, that's enough of that for now."

He glanced around, his senses on high alert. The atmosphere was still thick with danger, and the deeper he ventured into this twisted version of Vale, the more unpredictable the threats became.

"Alright," he muttered to himself, shaking off the lingering feeling of unease. "I need to stay focused. More monsters to deal with. And who knows what other surprises this place has in store for me."

Oscar tightened his grip on Midnight Fang, preparing himself for whatever came next. He was more dangerous than ever, but with that power came a price.

Oscar then kept walking, as he then looked at Fountain, as there was the same water monster he went then and put his hand in the water. "Yeah not dealing with this, I am just trying to find the boss".

Osacr then used [Freez Dry] as both the water and the water became ice as then used Crimson tiger to blow them to pieces

Ding!

[Skill leveled up

Freez Dry - Level 6]

Oscar looked around for bit. "I am not gonna see the boss soon am I".

As then he heard something in his mind

"You will see me soon Human"

Oscar froze, his hand still hovering in the air as the ice shards from the Freez Dry spell slowly fell to the ground. The voice that echoed in his mind was deep, sinister, and chilling. He clenched his fists, a sense of unease creeping up his spine.

"Who... who's there?" he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper, as if speaking too loudly might draw the attention of whatever this presence was.

The voice responded, smoother this time, as though savoring the moment. "You're getting closer, Human. All your struggles, all your pain... they lead you to me. You cannot escape your destiny. You will face me, and only then will you understand the true nature of this place."

Oscar's gaze darted around the eerie, fog-filled streets. Everything felt off, distorted. The shadows seemed to move in ways that didn't make sense, the stillness in the air almost suffocating. It was clear that this wasn't just another dungeon—it was something far more twisted, far more dangerous.

"I don't need to understand anything. I just need to get through this." Oscar said to himself, though his voice lacked the confidence he was trying to project. His hands tightened around Midnight Fang and Crimson Trigger, both weapons now extensions of his own resolve. The words echoed in his mind, gnawing at him.

The voice chuckled softly, as though it were entertained by his defiance. "You think you're strong enough? You think your petty tricks and weapons can defeat me? I am not just a creature of this realm, Human. I am a harbinger, a king in a world you cannot comprehend. You will kneel before me. I will break you."

Oscar's heart pounded in his chest, the tension building with every word. He could feel the heat rising in his body, a combination of fury and fear. He had faced countless monsters, dungeons, and challenges, but this... this felt different. This felt personal. There was something about this voice, this presence, that unsettled him in a way no other foe had.

"Not a chance," Oscar snapped, his tone hardening. "You're just another monster in my way. And I'm done playing games."

With a swift motion, he drew Crimson Trigger, the weapon humming with energy. He wasn't going to let this mysterious entity get the better of him. He had come too far, pushed too hard. He wasn't about to give up now.

The voice lingered for a moment longer, almost as if it were amused by his response. "We shall see, Human. We shall see. But be warned... I am not what you think. I am the darkness that feeds on despair... and you, Oscar, are already deep within my grasp."

The message left Oscar with a gnawing feeling in his gut. His eyes narrowed as he scanned the surroundings, his instincts on high alert. He could feel it now, an overwhelming presence, one that was slowly closing in on him.

"Let's get this over with," Oscar muttered, pushing forward into the foggy streets. His mind raced, piecing together his next move, ready for whatever came next.

He was about to face something far more dangerous than he ever expected. And yet, he would not back down.
