Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 493: Extended Hand

Carmen was utterly speechless by her guild leader's action this time.

Who would have thought that he had such time and effort to construct a test within an intense battle?

She normally would oblige to his weird actions, but not this time. She was definitely going to have a talk with him once the matter with the Warden was dealt with.

"Okay, everyone stay focused and do the following rotations!" Carmen announced and ensured everyone would have their role properly assigned.

Although the remaining Warden was rather tenacious and difficult to hit, it was doomed to die. Its other fellow Wardens were all killed and turned into a pile of regular stones by now.

Thus, another 3 minutes was all it took for Carmen's leadership to finish off the last Warden.

Once the battlefield was cleared of any danger, almost everyone plopped to the ground, exhausted and fatigued from the prolonged fight.

Not even Iceheart, who was usually emotionless and composed aside from the time she interacted with Xu Feng, had laid on the ground.

"Good work everyone." Carmen clasped her hands and praised their efforts.

"Use this time properly to rest up and recover your health and mana. If anyone runs out of potions, then inform me as I still have quite a few." She added, glancing at everyone's tired state.

This was by far their most difficult fight and the most tedious one. There were so many near-death incidents too.

It was also at this moment that Carmen realized just how crucial and critical Xu Feng's buffings were.

During the time he had disappeared and the buffs were running out, struggles and cracks among their formation were starting to show.

Without a doubt, the reason why they were able to even contend against the Wardens equally was mostly thanks to Xu Feng's timely assistance and support.

Others might ignore this important role, always giving the credit to either the tank or heavy DPS classes, but not Carmen.

'Fine, I won't give him a hard time.' Having thought of that, Carmen's anger from the previous ridiculous test that Xu Feng had set up for her along with Zhao Kai seemingly subsided.

Matter of fact, Carmen actually blamed herself somewhat for believing Zhao Kai would suddenly act and behave in such a manner.

If her perception and intuition were higher, then she would have noticed something was amiss, rather than trying to ponder whether or not she should scold him.

Sometime later, Carmen arrived next to the resting Xu Feng with an unfriendly gaze.

"Why did you do that?" She questioned, going straight to the point without beating around the bushes.

"I need capable commanders sooner or later in the future. Hence, I wanted to train you a bit in how to adapt to unconventional or unpredictable scenarios." Xu Feng responded calmly.

"And you didn't disappoint me. You scolded Shadow Blade in a heartbeat when you saw him acting out and disrupting the team's harmony." He continued, praising Carmen's decisive action.

Annoyed and unamused, Carmen took a seat next to him.

"Why did you want to train me at this time? And I'm not suitable to be a leader." She said solemnly, furrowing her brows. In her mind, she recalled the past incident that had happened during her time of leadership.

Whenever she thought of that incident, she knew leading was not her forte.

Although Xu Feng was unaware of what was troubling her, with his experience, he could tell Carmen had gone through something equivalent to a trauma. Find your next read at My Virtual Library Empire

"I'm not going to pry about your past nor will I judge you with your past incidents. We're human, and mistakes are bound to happen no matter how well one attempts to plan ahead." Xu Feng calmly said and pointed at a pile of stones.

"Do you see Warden's death over there? I miscalculated this time and nearly died to its surprise maneuver. I had everything planned, but this battle was far from ideal, with us nearly failing in the process."

"But you succeeded…" Carmen smiled bitterly.

"Success and failure are just one flip of a coin at the end. Sometimes you succeed, and sometimes you just fail. That's just the law of nature, and you can't brood over it."

"I—"

Before Carmen could continue to talk, Xu Feng raised his hand to signal for her to stop.

"Like I've said, I don't care nor will I ever ask you about your past incident unless you personally wish to discuss it with me. But until then, I'm speaking to you right now as a friend, not as the Raid Leader or your Guild Leader status. I'm entrusting you to lead, and you know I'm a stubborn person." He declared solemnly.

With that declaration, the words that Carmen wanted to speak were caught in her throat. She felt as if she had lost her voice. Her mouth was left agape, but she didn't mind.

There were many people she had met in life, but barely anyone truly understood the experience she went through.

While she remained silent, Xu Feng stood up and extended his hand toward her.

"Anyway, you don't have to worry much with me as your backing. This hand will always be here for you, so let's not dwell too much on the past and focus on the present."

"Sigh, I was originally coming here to reprimand or scold you, but I received a lecture and therapy from you instead."

"Well, I'm not a licensed one, so you can relax that I won't charge you a fee." Xu Feng chuckled softly.

"Even this hand of yours? Is it permanently free here?" Carmen teased and gazed at this hand.

"For you, it's always going to be here. Now come on, my hand is feeling strained and we still have an Oppressive Pillar to destroy," Xu Feng faked soreness in his arm, waving it up and down.

"You better not regret this action of yours." Carmen grinned and grabbed his hand, holding it tightly.

"I've regretted a lot of things, but I don't plan on having any in this timeline." Xu Feng mused and raised her up from the ground. "The others had enough rest by now. A little bit over 2 minutes should be enough."
