Chapter 26: Chapter 26
I was excused from classes that day. No, that's not where I should start… After the shocking scene earlier, the twins' favorability towards me increased by 12%. But I didn't even want to think about that.
Instead, I caught Kiba, who had conveniently skipped class, and asked him to keep an eye on me (to avoid any "ram" incidents and to point out any mistakes I made). Then, I decided to practice the Beast Imitation Technique. Surprisingly, I succeeded on the first try, and it was immediately added to my skill list.
"Beast Imitation Technique: Four Legs"
The Beast Imitation Technique allows you to tap into your inner beast, granting you some of the attributes of an animal. In your case, it mimics a hard-headed fox.
20 Chakra per minute.
While active, you receive:
+10% Strength
+15% Agility and Speed
-5% Intelligence
+2% Endurance
Your senses sharpen. Buffs "Beast's Instinct" and "Keen Perception" applied.
Additionally, for the duration of the technique, you gain the effects "Beast Fangs" and "Beast Claws".
Due to the statuses "I'm a Log" and "I'm a Ram", use this skill carefully and only when sober and in a clear state of mind, free from intoxication, drowsiness, or other mind-altering effects.
Congratulations! The "Speed" parameter has been unlocked!
Apologies from the system, but you will have to develop this stat from scratch. It will not affect your current speed until it reaches the same level.
I could already see it in my stats—1 point displayed after the colon, with (50) in parentheses. Well, that meant I could quickly level it up since my actual speed was already at fifty.
"Yes! I did it!" I exclaimed happily. Hmm, I could already maintain it for quite a while. Not bad.
"Nice! That's my friend! Though… why are your chakra flares red?" Kiba cheered me on before voicing an interesting question.
If I remembered correctly, this technique should have blue chakra flashes. The intensity of the color depended on the user's chakra, meaning even someone like Orochimaru, who had dark purple chakra in the anime, would still emit a dark, almost blackish blue. My chakra should have been fairly bright and blue as well.
The only explanation? The imitation was of a fox. That, and the parasitic chakra was also from him.
At the time, I didn't know whether that was bad or not. But I would soon find out just how much trouble had been laid out for me—whether intentionally or not.
The first signal from my intuition came that evening when I heard a woman's voice screaming "YESSSS!" loud enough to shake half of Konoha. The voice was familiar, but I couldn't recognize it in that ecstatic yell.
Strangely enough, after that incident, Kiba walked around pale and stuttering for a whole week, swearing he hadn't heard any scream. That coincidence—or perhaps that very event—became my intuition's second signal.
The third? The sudden visit from Hiruzen Sarutobi himself, who, with a kind smile, asked me to demonstrate my newly learned technique.
After showing him, the Third Hokage swayed slightly, receiving two debuffs that lasted for two minutes: "Mild Discomfort" and "Minor Vestibular Issues." He then clarified which technique he was asking about.
At the time, I thought it was "No Second Strike" that had caught his attention. But honestly, that old man was a monster! To take my strongest hit head-on and only get those minor side effects… No wonder he was Hokage.
Achievement Unlocked: "I Slightly (Very, Very Slightly) Messed Up the Hokage!"
+5 to all stats.
-5 Intelligence (Seriously, attacking the Hokage before even becoming a Genin? What were you thinking?)
+5 Strength (Managing to land a hit on the Hokage made you more confident in your own strength.)
+5 Chakra Control (With your control? And you still pulled it off? Today must be your lucky day!)
Luck stat unlocked!
+77 Luck (Attacking someone 200 levels above you, landing some kind of result, and surviving? You're seriously lucky!)
New Status: "Ant I"
"So what if I'm small? You think you can take me? Come at me!"
Like an ant going up against much larger insects, you (have no sense of self-preservation) demonstrate remarkable courage.
+5% chance to deal any damage to enemies 100 levels or more above you.
+30% chance to ignore the bloodlust of enemies at least 30 levels higher than you (0.2% chance to develop the status "Bloodlust Immunity" in the future and land yourself in deep trouble because of it).
+25 Strength (I may not be able to carry things four times my weight, but I'm still strong!)
+5 Endurance (I'm tough… you get the idea.)
-2 Intelligence (You need 31 more stupid decisions to unlock the "Oh, You Fool" status.)
Yeah, the system trolled me hard that day.
Ahem. Back to what happened afterward. After showing Hiruzen my Beast Imitation, he looked incredibly troubled. With a very thoughtful expression, he wished me "a good day" and left my apartment… on his second attempt. Turns out, a doorframe and vestibular issues make for an interesting challenge.
And not even a week later, Tsume Inuzuka herself (radiating pure satisfaction) came to personally take me away. Now I was living in the Inuzuka Clan Compound.
Naturally, that meant Yugao was removed from her post as my babysitter. The Inuzuka don't tolerate outsiders in their territory. But how did that align with me living there?
Oddly enough, Hitomi retained her position. For some reason, I imagined a scene where Hitomi held a kunai to Danzo's throat, explaining in exquisite detail the kind of hell he would be in if they separated us.
I wondered why that image felt so realistic.
That said, Hitomi wasn't allowed to roam freely through the compound—only within my assigned house and the path leading to and from it. I, on the other hand, had no such restrictions.
And the final twist: Tsume herself was now teaching me the Inuzuka Clan's specialized techniques. Also, I wasn't allowed to train unsupervised anymore.
By the way, after bombarding her with questions about the techniques and receiving immediate answers (plus some relationship progress), I had a sneaking suspicion that she was the one answering my previous questions through Kiba.
Now I just needed to figure out how she managed to legally get custody of me, and what the hell was actually going on!
Oh, and that seduction quest for my two babysitters? Yeah, it still wasn't canceled, and the timer was still running. If Hitomi was obviously still part of it, then did Yugao still count as the second target?
And if so… how was I supposed to raise her affection when I couldn't even see her anymore?
I had to do something. Preferably, I needed to somehow get kicked out of the Inuzuka Compound.
But first, I had to figure out how the hell I even ended up here in the first place!
