The morning started with news that Itachi had left the village. And I found out about it… from Itachi himself, sitting on my windowsill.

"Why?" – I ask quietly.

"I'm tired. Just tired. Missions, the mess in my head, and now more chaos. I don't feel the same reverence for the village or the clan anymore. The village has already repaid me for everything, and I paid my debt to the clan in full yesterday, especially when standing against that one-eyed man. Now, the only debts I have left are to you, but I'll pay them off eventually. I'll drop by sometimes, check on my brother, visit the family. But other than that, I'll take someone with me and settle down in the middle of nowhere. No intrigues, no missions, no killings." – Uchiha even closed his eyes dreamily.

"I'm actually a bit jealous now." – I admit.

"No, it's too early for you. Same for my brother. Finish the academy first, so you can actually do something. Better yet, reach chunin level, and then decide." – Itachi smirks.

"Alright, then. Good luck." – I reply in the same tone.

"Oh, and my father wanted to see you. So did my aunt. When you get the chance, visit them. At least let them thank you properly. Saving them and then just passing out… you've got nerves of steel." – Itachi smirks ironically, completely shattering his canonical image.

I lean back onto the bed. Damn, that was sudden.

"And hello to you too, you perverted shotacon." – He throws the words toward the door, flashing his three-tomoe Sharingan.

I glance at the closed door and then at Itachi questioningly. He gestures toward an instrument.

Got it, Tsuru is watching over me. Damn, sometimes she scares me.

I snap out of my thoughts and see an empty window.
