Reincarnated With the World Domination System

Chapter 7: The Maker's Core

Back in the orphanage, Rael tried to act as though nothing significant had happened.

It was normal for orphans to hide their adventures in the junkyard, so no one mentioned it, even though a few like Anne had suffered today.

After dinner, Rael ran to his room and climbed up into his bunk bed.

Like most kids, he wrapped himself in his blanket.

Other orphans did this because it felt like a base, but Rael did it for privacy.

He didn't have a futuristic watch like Ali and a few others, so he couldn't browse social media or surf the Internet in secret.

He cocooned himself to awaken his second innate ability and let Dominica create a virtual reality training room for real combat practice.

Okay. Awaken my second innate ability, please, Dominica.

[As you wish, Lord Rael.]

[I'm beginning the process of Lord Rael's second innate ability awakening.]

As Dominica's voice echoed in his mind, Rael braced himself for the awakening symptoms.

His whole body heated up, and inside the blanket, it felt like a sauna.

Soon, he exhaled in relief as the heat flowed to a single spot in his body.

He thought he was safe, but the heat surged into his brain, causing a splitting headache.

Fever blurred his senses, and he clenched his eyes shut.

After what felt like ages of the worst headache in both his lives, Rael finally awakened his second innate ability.

[You have successfully awakened your second innate ability, Lord Rael.]

[The Maker's Core (F)]

THE MAKER'S CORE?!

His eyes snapped open at the ability's name.

He saw a system window floating above him, linked to the World Domination System.

He wasn't surprised because The Maker's Core was what The God Of Machima had used to create Machnoids, Autonoms, and countless other races.

In the original story, Milford honed it to the point where he needed nothing but this system and enough resources to raise an army.

Rael had received the final version right away, yet it was up to him and Dominica to push it even further.

[Yes. As it currently stands, Lord Rael's The Maker's Core can bring to life your own versions of Steelborn—]

STEELBORN!

His excitement cut Dominica off at once.

[Lord Rael, I would like to explain your innate ability…]

How could I not know what The Maker's Core does?! I can create Steelborn right from the start! This is so awesome!

[…]

If Dominica could appear like a chibi figure, she would look defeated with slumped shoulders.

Rael was so thrilled that he didn't notice.

He saw he only needed steel to produce his first creations.

At this level, they would be like old drones from centuries ago, lacking artificial intelligence, and they would need pilots.

Still, it thrilled him to think of all the potential upgrades to come.

He realized that if he had been given everything Milford had, he would just follow the same path.

Now, it was up to him to handle the limits and find the best ways to use his Steelborn and bloodline.

And I live close to the junkyard! There's so much steel just waiting there for me!

[That is stealing, Lord Rael.]

I'll pay it back someday!

[Understood. Shall I proceed with creating the virtual reality training room for you?]

Yes. I can test The Maker's Core in there, right?

[Yes. There is no limit in virtual reality, since everything except Lord Rael's soul will be an illusion. Pain and fatigue will only affect you mentally.]

Great. I'll be able to see you too, right? Make yourself an avatar, Dominica.

[…As you wish, Lord Rael.]

A brief pause followed, but Rael, lacking social experience, paid it little attention.

Dominica then continued, beginning the creation of his virtual reality training room.

[Are you willing to spend fifteen thousand EXP to create your personal virtual reality training room?]

Of course.

[I am starting the process of building your personal virtual reality training room.]

[It will take around twelve hours.]

That's a while. I guess I'll shower and maybe sneak into the junkyard again to grab some steel for my first Steelborn. I should've expected it to take this long.

[It would normally only take six hours.]

Why is it doubled, then?

[I need six hours to ensure I do not disappoint you or myself with my virtual reality avatar.]

Rael went silent, surprised that Dominica wanted so much time for her avatar.

He imagined her as the type to spend more effort on character creation than on the actual game.

Now I'm really looking forward to your avatar. Have fun.

[I am honored, Lord Rael. I shall not disappoint you.]
