Reincarnated With The Van Helsing System

Chapter 618: Challenges Daimon & Nethereal sisters, Jazmine’s version (part 7)

Being met with another wall when he just was about to smile while punching the face of the woman that hit him earlier, made the darkness affinity guy's face twist due to anger, it was infuriating.

What's more, the hole he previously created in the first wall was closing with each fraction of a second that passed and the worst part is that he couldn't feel the slightest energy reaction coming from the enemy.

Unlike back when Chris used "Demolition", when it was easily noticeable, she was using earth element mana to cast a spell, there was no trace of the honey eyed girl casting a spell even though she made a tall solid wall which was obviously reinforced with mana, appear out of thin air and it was driving the enemy crazy.

"How, how, HOW!", the darkness affinity guy went on a rampage, he continuously punched the walls in front of Chris and then as soon as he had made his way through the second layer and managed to get a glimpse of the honey eyed girl, he flashed to attack her from the side, where there was no wall.

In other words, he used his own "tantrum" as a distraction in a try to land a surprise attack on Chris, unfortunately for him, a wild smile flourished on the honey eyes girl as she said.

"Mobile Stronghold, Double Layered Side Walls", and with that sentence, both her right and left sides were protected by a double layer of walls, blocking the incoming attack of the darkness affinity guy.

"Booom!", his fist synchronized with the bodkin of the dark metal chain and pushed it through the walls, the thing caused sizzling sounds as it corroded through the mana and earth layers of the walls piercing through both walls, unfortunately only a small part of its tip made its way to where Chris could see it.

"Did you really believe I would be forced to use normal long casting just to double the number of walls, the word "Stronghold" isn't just for showing, of course I can defend in every direction at the same time", casually said Chris.

Besides silent casting which is the most advanced version of it, there is short casting which allows a mage to use a shorter version of the chant needed for a spell, that's what Chris was previously using when making a single wall appear, however to double the number of walls she needed regular long casting, but at the same time that allowed her to defend in every direction if she wanted to.

The previous was a big "screw you" to the face of the darkness affinity guy, because Chris's words meant that she was playing with him by using a "weakened" version of her defense due to the usage of short casting and to top it off, unlike what he wanted to believe this wasn't an innate ability or the result of using some kind of magic weapon, it was a spell.

Needless to say, but the glare from the enemy queen fell on the darkness affinity guy, he was being completely overwhelmed, even those two who faced Michael offered a better performance than him at least at the short run.

Also, he wasn't a regular member of the army like those two, just like the name of the armor spell he just used suggested, he was part of the special operation corps, the weakest one among them, but he was only second to the captain of the special corps when it came to adapting to the situation.

Which is why he was chosen to go second, since Erika predicted that they would lose the first battle, since the ones that actively chose to face two of them at the same time were the "strongest" ones from the enemy's group.

It wasn't his fault though, Chris's improvement had taken even Daimon by surprise.

'There are some restrictions and the defense is obviously weaker, but she can now use that "Fortress" of hers while moving, her mobility and maneuverability have more than tripled compared to before, not to mention her attacking power which probably increased alongside the aggressiveness brought by the new bloodline concentration she reached', thought Daimon.

Unlike the enemy, he had discovered what was Chris's trick, in part because of the infinity eyes and in part because she actively showed it to him.

The reason as to why the enemy couldn't feel the activation of her spell and the reason as to why she could move without the other party noticing was the same.

She for a fraction of a second "synchronized" with earth element that existed in the atmosphere, the way she "disappeared" it's actually a simple trick, the dived underground and then surged where she needed, the enemy's dark mist worked against him by blocking his sight.

That being said there was another interesting thing when it came to her "mobile stronghold" she wasn't creating the walls on the spot, she was simply manipulating them as they already existed.

It's just that they were so small that others couldn't see them, they were part of the decorations on her belt, however she didn't have "walls" as decorations but whole miniature strongholds which she simply returned to their normal size through mana manipulation.

'There is a faint smell of blood coming from those walls, so it's not the same earth element she uses, there must be a special process, which is understandable if it was just compressed earth, she wouldn't be able to move due to their weight', concluded Daimon.

Through magic and mana manipulation one could compress a mountain sized chunk of metal into an arm sized weapon yes, however that didn't mean its weight would reduce, Disaster is the perfect example of that principle.

However, Disaster is also an example on how to break that principle, since Narasha who resides inside of it can cooperate with Daimon so that he doesn't have to use that much strength to wield Disaster.

Of course, the situation was different since there was no consciousness in those miniature decorations on her skirt, but she made it so they would "cooperate" with her, and given the fact that they had some slight traces of her blood, it was something she managed to do due to a special trait of her race.

'Speaking of blood, I don't know what her race is… in fact I don't remember neither her not Daphne mentioning anything about it before', thought Daimon.

Unlike basically all the nobles from the Clear Water kingdom, it was obvious that Chris's race wasn't related to a sea type magic beast, since her affinity is earth, it could be that her family came from one of the other seas, maybe from the Elemental one since there are talented people with all the affinities there, even light and darkness exclusive families exist, or….

'She could descend from one of the people that randomly ended up stranded in Neptune, since her family basically consists in herself and her parents or more accurately her mother since her father for sure descends from a sea magic beast race', thought Daimon.

Though they weren't even introduced to each other, Daimon did get to see Chris's mother when he met Grace, amusingly enough Chris's father is a non-combatant, he is the head chef of the Valas's family while his wife or Chris's mother is the personal maid/bodyguard of the Duchess not to mention her childhood friend.

Why was Daimon thinking in all of this you ask, well that's because Chris's mother didn't produce such a reaction from him back then, so either she was different than her mother and just awakened to that, or she became different due to his influence leading her to both danger and opportunities.

And that led us to the third difference about the "pre-Daimon" Chris and the "post-Daimon" one… she should be able to use a lineage's innate ability now.

"So, you were playing with me huh", back to the fight, the darkness affinity guy exhaled as he returned to the real world, knowing that Chris had the capacity to use this kind of defense with relative ease and she just needed to use regular casting for it, but chose not to do so as she had no need to until now, was a hard blow to his confidence.

"However, if you think we, the special corps from the Balax army can be defeated to easily then… you are wrong", the darkness affinity guy grabbed the buckle of his belt and crushed a small black bead which was placed at its center.

Remembering the scene of the blood needle rain which was initiated by the bishop activating some sort of stored spell into a gem embedded in her staff, Chris rushed at the enemy with her right fist cladded in earth mana.

"Demolition", she punched frontwards but her pretty fist was stopped by a sphere of darkness that expanded with the enemy as its center, stopping when it covered his body.

"You are proud of your defense right, good luck trying to bypass the "Black Barrier" from the Legion Reinforcement series!", shouted the darkness affinity guy from within that black nether sphere a second before Chris's fist clashed against it.

"Booom!", a rumbling explosion was produced due to both the energy and physical clash, but the result was that Chris was… repelled, or more accurately she had to stop the clash because her spell had run out of effect and her fist was directly clashing against the darkness nether which was inflicting some damage to her hand.

With a slight frown on her pretty face, Chris retreated a few steps to then punch and kick the black sphere continuously, but the result was the same she couldn't break through it, her spells were corroded at the moment they made contact with the enemy's defense.

On the other hand, that defensive spell unlike hers, didn't allow the enemy to move or attack, he was safe but he was trapped.

"With each hit the corroding effect lessens, but it will naturally dispel in a few seconds so this is just a tactic to gain time and use a trump card", mumbled the honey eyed girl who had felt a certain someone's gaze on her a moment ago.

'Damn bitch she is being annoying to the end!', inwardly cursed the darkness affinity guy whose eyes were closed as he gathered darkness nether throughout his body, Chris was right, just like how the knight asked the bishop to stall for time for him to use his strongest move, the darkness affinity guy needed some time to use his.

The difference is that since he didn't have a partner to buy time for him, he needed something to block the enemy in his stead, luckily he was a mage and so he could use a "Legion Medal", a onetime magic treasure that the Balax Lord granted as a special reward to those that had made some heavy contributions.

They are basically stored spells, similar to the "Talismans" back at the four galaxies, the difference being that unlike the talismans that could only store the spells their creator engraved on them, the Legion Medals were basically energy banks that could be used by the one that received them to do as they wanted with them and the nether stored inside was naturally the one from the Balax Lord.

Which is why Chris couldn't break through a defensive spell casted with it as the medium and she received damage instead, Michael didn't suffer because he was able to completely dodge and also in a 1v1 the bishop was way weaker than the darkness affinity guy, so the power they could draw out of their Legion Medal was different.

High up at the sky Daimon raised an eyebrow noticing the similarity between those one-time things and the Emblems.

'They are clearly downgraded versions but share some aspects with the Emblems, it would be nice to obtain one completely intact example', he thought, making the eyes of a certain white-haired girl waiting at one of the other battlefields, glow for a second.

Knowing that it was futile to attack the black sphere, Chris tried to take some distance from the enemy, earth mana started to gather around her, but a crystal shattering like sound interrupted her focus, the next thing she knew was that the darkness affinity guy had appeared in front of her.

"Darkness Special Corps, Scout!", the dark solid armor he was wearing had fused with his skin and an intricate pattern appeared on his skin, it was a similar state as the one used by the knight at his fight with Michael, the difference being that this was a spell not a martial art.

Also, it was different because there was more than just the enemy's darkness being radiated by it, he was using the leftover nether from the black sphere, but this time as an offensive mean, as it was being radiated by that pattern on his skin.

"Double Layered Frontal Wall", Chris managed to call her spell and two tall walls appeared in front of her, but… they didn't last long.

"Booom!", with a punch, the darkness affinity guy broke through both walls at the same time, Chris however snapped her fingers and two new walls blocked him from advancing, for a second before they suffered the same destiny as the previous ones, this time due to a kick.

"Hahaha, come on make this interesting and run or something, since no matter how strong your defense is, you won't be able to parry my attacks in this state, it might be an imitation but this the nether of the Lord!", shouted the enemy as he proposed himself to pummel the pretty face of the honey eyed girl with his bare hands.

Just like the knight, he could now achieve a similar output to when he used a spell just with his normal moves, and when he enhanced his body with nether his strength went beyond that, naturally this burned his energy reserves like crazy so this state couldn't last long and the same applied to the fight.

He was just trying to provoke Chris so that she wouldn't try to outlast him by dodging or running away until he ran out of time, and for a change he succeeded but the result wasn't going to be good for him unlike what he expected.

"Crack!", the enemy's punch blasted a hole in the last pair of walls that Chris used to defend herself, this time she didn't call for a replacement and instead jumped backwards, a wild glow flashed through her eyes and then her body exploded in amber colored mana, which was then absorbed back into her body.

"Millenium Guardian Fortress", the mana which returned to her body was injected into the ground through her feet, dying everything within fifty meters around her of the same amber tone as the mana she released.

The darkness affinity guy saw the ground below his feet changing its color and he instinctively jumped to put some distance between himself and the enemy, just in time to escape from the range of the giant brick castle that raised from the ground in a matter of a second.

The imposing sight of the around thirty-meter-tall structure, and he gritted his teeth as he saw Chris who appeared at one of the towers at the corners of the castle, look at him from above.

'You have a bigger wall to protect you, so what!', he swore as he flashed at Chris appearing in front of her to then punch her just for his fist to be met with a solid wall.

"Booom!", imagine his reaction when this time his attack didn't manage to corrode its way through the brick wall, not to mention that Chris was now looking at him from afar, she somehow appeared at the tower a few dozens of meters away from her previous position.

"Tsk!", clicking his tongue the enemy flashed once again, but this time he was forced to stop midway since a wall blocked his way.

"What the hell, aghh!", he was moving too fast to dodge in time to he had to punch in a try to break through the wall that appeared in his path, but just like before he couldn't destroy the wall so while enduring the pain of his bones creaking due to the clash, he used his punch to propel himself backwards.

While retreating he managed to see what happened, naturally when he moved at high speed he did so in a direction where there was no physical obstruction since he didn't have space affinity and he also took in consideration a maneuverability area of around ten meters which was around the length of the two layers of defense which he saw Chris using earlier.

So, he didn't understand how come a wall appeared his way out of nowhere, but now he knew why, the castle in front of him "moved" to block him, literally a pillar raised out of the wall and then expanded to smack him away, luckily, he still managed to stop relatively in time.

With a gesture from Chris's hands the part from the castle that expanded was absorbed back into the ground, she was then absorbed into the castle, practically diving into the solid brick walls.

Within the walls of her fortress, she was the ruler and could so as she pleased, in less than a second, she went from the upper right tower to the left bottom corner where a window for her to smirk at the enemy opened.

'This bitch!!!', roared the darkness affinity in his heart, she was telling him that if she wanted to, she could comfortably wait for him run out of time inside her fortress and he couldn't do anything about it.

"Booom!", the pattern on the darkness affinity guy leaked an insane amount of nether, he was shortening the duration of this state in exchange for the usage of a spell, as he realized that the walls of the castle were tougher than before.

"Let's see you block this, Legion Reinforcement Black Scythe!", with a loud roar, the enemy flashed towards the castle, all the nether he released earlier took the shape of a twenty-meter scythe which floated behind of him.

Having taken enough impulse, he punched at the gates of the castle and the scythe followed through, the thing immediately cut through the amber layer of mana covering the brick gates.

"Crack!", but as the enemy prepared to rush through the castle to take the head of the honey eyed girl, his eyes widened as he saw a black layer appear below the amber one.

"T-That is nether!", he couldn't finish his sentence before the scythe actually dispelled, despite he having used less than a fourth part of the strength of his spell.

"Fortress Crush", Chris's words brought the enemy an impeding sensation of doom.

"W-Wait…", as the darkness affinity guy tried to speak, Chris pointed her palm at him and the whole frontal part of the castle… exploded.

"Booom!", the ground shook as a tremor was produced due to the explosion, this time the sides of the barrier that protected the battlefield cracked and shattered, such was the impact.

Needless to say, but the darkness affinity guy was turned into mincemeat due to the explosion which released a huge quantity of debris in every direction, a few pieces of broken bones and bits of flesh fell to the ground here and there, it was quite a horrible way to die.

But what probably caused the most frustration to the enemy as he was dying was the fact that he didn't know how he died, after all he saw a layer of darkness nether appearing below the amber mana layer of the castle, it was darkness nether strong enough to dispel the one from his Lord which he had absorbed to enhance his corrosion property.

And the problem is that she clearly didn't have let alone darkness affinity but the ability to use nether.

The only one who wasn't confused about what just happened was Daimon.

'So that was her innate ability…', he thought.
