Reincarnated in DXD(rewrite)

Chapter 1: Intro

In an endless void, a lone soul drifted aimlessly, with no sense of time or purpose. The soul couldn't recall how long it had been there, but fragments of its previous life remained vivid. Before his death, he had been a mechanical engineer, dedicating most of his time to relentless work. During rare moments of leisure, he immersed himself in movies, anime, or manga.

His life ended abruptly in an electrical fire while he was reading the latest chapter of the manga One Piece. He hadn't even finished half the chapter when a blinding flash consumed everything, leaving him in darkness. When he awoke, he found himself in this void.

To pass countless years, the soul entertained himself by pretending to be "Big Red," the Apocalypse Dragon from the anime High School DxD. He imagined soaring through dimensional rifts, performing aerial tricks, and crafting elaborate "what-if" scenarios involving his favorite anime characters. On this particular day, he was pondering a story where a forgotten clan, equal in stature to the Uchiha, Senju, and Hyuga, had direct ties to the Sage of Six Paths. Suddenly, a bright white light appeared before him.

Within the light stood an old man with long, white hair tied in a ponytail and a flowing beard. He wore round glasses and a traditional Japanese kimono. The man stared at the soul in shock, rubbing his chin in contemplation. After a moment, he spoke.

"Well, little soul, it seems I owe you an apology. Your death… was my fault."

"What?!" the soul exclaimed.

The old man nodded solemnly. "Yes. One fateful day, I got drunk on divine sake and accidentally unleashed a bolt of lightning that killed you. I placed you here to correct my mistake but passed out soon after and… well, I forgot. That was 2,000 years ago. I'm amazed you've lasted this long in limbo. Most souls would've shattered ages ago."

"I'll take that as a compliment, I guess. But what finally jogged your memory?"

"Another god who witnessed the incident reminded me during a recent conversation," the old man admitted sheepishly.

The soul's frustration boiled over. "So, if it weren't for that god, I'd still be stuck here forever? What kind of god are you?!"

The old man raised his hands defensively. "Now, now. I understand you're upset, but I'm here to make amends."

"How?"

"By giving you a chance to live again—in a world you're familiar with: High School DxD. And, to make it interesting, I'll grant you three wishes to aid your new life."

The soul's irritation gave way to excitement. "Really?"

"Yes. So, what will your three wishes be?"

The soul thought for a moment before replying, "For my first wish, I want to be the twin brother of Rias Gremory."

The old man nodded. "That's easily done. What's your second wish?"

"I want a Fantasy Archive filled with knowledge from all the worlds I know—like The 35th Anti-Magic Platoon, Fairy Tail, and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, to name a few."

The old man stroked his beard thoughtfully. "I can grant that, but the Archive won't include knowledge of the DxD world. Is that acceptable?"

"Yes, that's fine. But why exclude DxD knowledge?"

"Simple," the old man replied. "What fun is living in a world where you know everything that's about to happen? Besides, your memories reveal that even you don't remember all the events in DxD."

The soul chuckled. "True. I've read the light novels, but that was ages ago. I've forgotten a lot, which will make the experience more exciting."

"Exactly. Now, what is your third and final wish?"

"I want the same ability as Yukio Hans Vorarlberna, but enhanced and not dependent on a video game console."

The old man tilted his head. "Ah, I see. By 'enhanced,' you mean complete data materialization instead of pseudo-data materialization, correct?"

"Exactly. Yukio's powers were limited—the materialized data wasn't truly real and only worked effectively within his pocket dimensions. I want the power to fully materialize data anywhere."

The old man nodded again. "I can do that. However, because of the immense power this ability entails, you won't inherit the Power of Destruction like the rest of your Gremory siblings. Also, the scope of your ability will depend on your demonic energy reserves. Are you willing to accept these terms?"

The soul didn't hesitate. "That's fine by me."

"Very well," the old man said. "Your wishes are granted. I'm truly sorry for forgetting about you, and I hope you enjoy your new life. Goodbye, and good luck."

In a flash of light, the soul vanished from the void. Left alone, the old man sighed. "Oh, I forgot to mention… his presence in the DxD world might cause some changes. Oh well. He'll figure it out eventually."
