Chapter 39: Solving Origami's Hatred
Inside Origami's apartment, Shido was lying on a bed. Slowly, his eyelids quivered, and he opened his eyes to see an unfamiliar ceiling. A moment later, it dawned on him that he was in Origami's room, resting.
When he was in his Inner World, the system had already informed him earlier that Origami had brought him here to tend to his wounds.
He was dumbfounded upon learning this. The thought of Origami dragging him all the way to her apartment felt surreal, but since she did this to take care of his injury, he decided not to dwell on it.
Yet, why didn't she bring him to the hospital and instead to her apartment?
Is it due to her anxiety about losing him or just her natural instinct?
Just as he was trying to make sense of the situation, he noticed a breezy sensation on his skin.
Looking down, he realized his upper body was completely exposed, naked except for the pants he was still wearing. Shido was speechless.
'Did Origami simply nurse me back to health, or did she do something weird to my body while I was unconscious?'
Awkward thoughts filled his mind as he pushed himself into a sitting position.
Now, looking at his chest, which has no wounds, he knows that his Spirit Body was truly amazing in healing his wounds at a fast rate.
Though it wasn't healed instantly like a certain overpowered slime protagonist that was reincarnated just like him, his healing ability was still quite fast.
"Shi…do." a soft voice called out.
Shido froze, startled by the voice. He hadn't realized he wasn't alone. Lost in examining his body, he had completely neglected to check his surroundings.
Glancing to his side, he finally noticed a figure resting peacefully next to him. Origami.
She was asleep, her upper body leaning on the bed's edge, mere inches from him. Her short, white hair cascaded softly over her shoulders.
Her eyes were slightly swollen and had a faint redness showing that she had cried heavily, leaving a somber expression lingering on her peaceful face.
A gentle smile crept across Shido's lips when he saw this.
Origami, vulnerable and unguarded like this, was a stark contrast to her usual composed and expressionless face.
She resembled a fragile child seeking solace and comfort.
Unable to resist the urge, Shido reached out and gently ran his fingers through her silky, soft hair. Surprisingly, Origami's body reacted instinctively, leaning into his touch.
A faint, contented smile spread across her lips. Seeing her like this become so pure and relaxed left Shido stunned.
A radiant smile lit up on her face, and a warm feeling bloomed in his chest. It was the first time he'd ever seen Origami reveal a smile.
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Shido took a closer look around the room. It was his first time in a girl's room, apart from Kotori's and Tohka's.
Origami's room, surprisingly, had a modest charm. Compared to Kotori's overly childish decorations and Tohka's obsession with food-themed plushies, this room was simple yet cozy.
A faint, calming fragrance lingered in the air, soothing his nerves.
On the floor nearby, Shido noticed a small basin of water tinged red and his blazer soaked with dried blood.
Clearly, Origami had not only brought him here but had also tended to his injuries, going so far as to remove and clean his upper body.
Despite her often harsh exterior, Origami could be unexpectedly caring and gentle. Thinking about her tragic past, Shido couldn't help but sympathize.
Her parents had died five years ago, robbing her of a happy, carefree upbringing. If not for that, she might have grown into a beautiful, warm-hearted person without the deep scars of hatred toward Spirits.
Suddenly, Shido's eyes widened as an idea flashed in his mind.
Anos Voldigoad's magic.
Ingal!
A resurrection spell capable of bringing back the dead. If he could reach a certain percentage of integration with the magic, he might be able to use the resurrection spell to bring back Origami's parents.
Perhaps, in doing so, he could heal her wounds and erase her hatred for Spirits.
A cautious optimism bubbled within him, though he knew such a task wouldn't come without complications.
He knew this was not something he could handle alone. The resurrection would come with consequences, and he would need Kotori's help to manage the aftermath.
He also realized that when the time came, he might have to reveal the truth about his ability to travel between worlds.
Nevertheless, Shido knew that one day he have to tell her his secret.
Opening his system interface, Shido checked on the integration progress of Anos Voldigoad's magic and reviewed his current status:

Shido smiled, satisfied with the progress of his stats, though the pace of leveling had noticeably slowed. His collection of skills and equipment had grown considerably.
Though he spent too many System Points to buy and upgrade different skills, his Soul Fragments were rising slowly and this progress was good enough for him, especially in this world where points are hard to grind.
He felt one step closer to becoming one of the strongest beings across the multiverse. Yet, Shido couldn't help but chuckle to himself, feeling a bit foolish for entertaining such grandiose ambitions.
Checking on the integration progress for Anos Voldigoad's magic, however, his smile faded.
It was still at a mere 1.7%. Despite having received the magic nearly a month ago, progress was agonizingly slow.
Shido couldn't deny that it was frustrating, though he consoled himself with the thought that power of such magnitude came with a price.
"Well, no use dwelling over it." Shido revealed a wry smile as he consoled himself. If the progress could reach at least 5% integration, he might gain access to some Anos' spells including the resurrection spell.
Though he didn't know how long it would take, he resolved himself to focus on steady progress. With that thought, a renewed determination filled him.
When that time finally came when he could use the resurrection spell, he would bring back Origami's parents.
The mere thought filled him with hope. Perhaps their return would mend the cracks in her heart and dissolve her hatred toward Spirits.
As he mulled over these ideas, a soft groan reached his ears. Looking over, he noticed Origami waking up.
Her eyelashes fluttered as she slowly opened her eyes.
Origami lifted her head groggily until their gazes met, and for a moment, silence enveloped the room. Shido's lips curved into a gentle smile.
"Good morning, Origami."
Origami blinked as if trying to remember where she was and what had happened. When realization dawned, her stunned face turned a faint shade of pink, only to quickly go pale again.
"You… you're awake." she said softly, avoiding his gaze. Her voice trembled slightly, betraying a mix of emotions.
"Thanks to you." Shido replied warmly. "Thank you for taking care of me. I must've worried you a lot."

It's a bit confusing whenever to understand that I always put Spirit Body instead of Camael's ability when it comes Shido's regenerative factor so let's just make it that Camael's healing ability is integrated fully with Shido's Spirit body.
