Chapter 38: Chapter 38
Inside the large, pristine white hall, which resembled a lab with microscopes scattered around, samples lay haphazardly, and the bodies of winged reptiles ranging from 5ft to 70ft in length were placed around a table.
At the center of the room, an old man with horns protruding from his skull, pointing upward, paced back and forth in worry, massaging his forehead.
The old man had a handsome face that had lost some of its glory with age but not completely. His brown hair was tied in a bun, and he wore round glasses over his red eyes.
"I can't believe those fools let that specimen go," he yelled, his worry evident.
Suddenly, the door of the lab opened, revealing a man also wearing a white gown. He spoke, "Doctor, the specimen isn't found in the facility. We have contacted the investigation team to search for it."
"Dammit!" the doctor shouted, throwing a pot of plants on the floor, shattering it. "It was the only specimen with a tendency to handle the blood of all Asurain races."
The doctor looked at the dead bodies of the winged reptiles. "All of them are dead. That sample even had the seed of a Vritra. I can't get that kind of specimen again," he said, starting to pull his hair out. "Shit I should have placed a freaking tracking spell on it. Shit shit!"
The boy spoke, "Dr. Marco, please control yourself. The investigation team will surely be able to find the specimen. It can't have run much farther." He tried to console the doctor, but Marco was still in worry.
Soon, a woman with an hourglass figure, also wearing a white gown, walked to the door of the hall. She looked at the boy, dozing behind her glasses.
The boy gestured to her that the doctor was going crazy. The woman nodded, pulled off the band holding her hair in a ponytail, and let her red hair fall behind her back. Her golden eyes turned seductive as she walked towards the Dr, she spoke with a voice full of seduction.
"Darling, why are you worrying so much?" she purred, her voice dripping with lust as she approached the doctor.
Wrapping her arms around him from behind, she rubbed her hands on his chest, trying to get his attention."Honey, not right now," the doctor muttered, trying to distance himself. But the woman was resilient.
She moved in front of him, wrapping her arms around his neck and speaking with seduction in every word.
"Darling, why are you worrying so much about that filth?"The doctor, now a bit eased, allowed himself to be led near a table. She sat on the table, wrapping her legs around his body, locking him in place. He didn't resist.
"I want to do it right now," she whispered, pulling down her gown to reveal her black bra.
The boy at the door had long since gone. The doctor nodded, surrendering to the moment as he kissed her passionately, pressing her down onto the table.

"Lucas, will you stop staring at him?" I said, noticing how Lucas was fixated on Elijah with a curious expression. Elijah looked uncomfortable under his gaze.
"Art, I'm just trying to find the places to improve on this face," Lucas replied, still staring intently at Elijah. "You should go."
"Where's your room?" I asked, diverting his attention. Lucas finally shifted his gaze and pulled out a room card. "Yeah, it should be to the left of your room, according to this."
"It would have been nice if the three of us had the same room," Elijah said, flopping down on the bed.
"I'll be here most of the time anyway," Lucas reassured him, giving Elijah a thumbs up.
"Shouldn't you go and set up your room?" I suggested, placing my clothes in the wardrobe.
"Yeah, you're right. I should go," Lucas agreed, standing up and heading out. "Bye, guys," he said as he left.
I waved at him.

"Ebon, what do you think about this academy?" I asked my bond, who was sitting on my head without a care in the world.
"It's fine," he replied, uninterested.
We found my room, "705," I muttered, reading the number on my card and matching it to the title above. I turned the knob and entered to find a boy around my age changing his shirt.
"Sorry, roommate just arrived here," he quickly said, slipping his shirt on, trying to hide his initial shock. He had long ears—elven ears. He looked at me as if he'd seen a ghost.
"What's up with you? You alright?" I asked, but he continued to stare at me with the same ghost-like expression. Ignoring him, I pulled out my briefcase, which Cassia, the purple-haired maid, had kindly packed for me. She's pretty nice if you ignore her chubby personality, and she does exactly what I tell her, which is a plus.
As I was unpacking my clothes, the boy still looked at me with wide eyes, as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing.
"Jamie Triscan," the boy finally said, embarrassed.
"Oh yeah, Lucas Wykes," I replied, extending my hand for a handshake. Jamie stared at it for an awkwardly long time before finally shaking it, his face turning pink.
"Oye, let me clear up any fantasies you're having—I'm no girl. So stop being embarssed.Anyway, What are you, Scholar or Battle Mage?" I asked.
"Battle Mage," he replied abruptly, going back to his task but still glancing at me from time to time.
I sighed, already feeling the weight of an annoying roommate.

"Knock, knock." A knock came on the door as I fixed my clothes.
"It must be Lucas. Will you open it, Art?" Elijah spoke.
"Yeah, yeah, sure." I walked to the door, speaking unconsciously, "Who is it?"
I opened the door, and it was Director Goodsky. Oh, why is this fox here? I thought as she spoke, "Good evening, Arthur. May I come in?"
"Director Goodsky!!" Elijah exclaimed as he approached her. Still standing at the doorstep, he did a 90° bow. "It's an honor to meet you up close and in person!"
She nodded, "Elijah, yes?" She continued, "I have heard great things about you from Vincent." She smiled.
Snapping Elijah from his trance, I spoke to the director, "Please come in, Director Goodsky." I gestured for her to move inside. Elijah excused himself, heading downstairs to get something to drink while I guided the director to sit.
As she sat, she spoke, "It looks like your bond isn't the only one who changed. I can only sense your Earth and Wind attribute mana. Are you using some kind of seal by any chance?" She asked with a disappointed look.
I scratched my head, giving her a little smile. "Can't say I'm not disappointed. I was hoping to go around flaunting you as my little Quadra-elemental prodigy." She smiled. "I am glad to see you've opted to be a Scholar Mage--as I expected."
"I was planning to tell you before, but I don't want to reveal all of my abilities here," I explained.
"Can't say I had not expected it. This kind of thought was always in the back of my head, but still, it's okay." She spoke. "Don't worry about it, but speaking of school life, I did want your help with another matter." I continued, explaining my demand. "I want to take higher-level mana theory classes, especially those on deviants."
"That wouldn't be too difficult to do, but I thought one of your main reasons for attending this academy late was to fit in with your peers," she said in a soft tone.
"I've just reached the ceiling in the deviation area. I'm eager to break it," I told her.
"Very well, I'll make it happen." She gave me a thumbs up. "I can even give you a pass so you can observe the mock battle of upperclassmen."
"Oh," I muttered, knowing very well there was a catch to this fox's gift. Taking the initiative, I asked, "What's the catch?"
But before she could answer, the door rapidly opened, and Elijah, lifting a tray with three cups, yelled, "ARTHUR LEYWIN. You are being rude to the director. How can you mistake her kindness for ulterior motives?!" He pointed at me.
But before anything, I smirked at the director's words. "No, no, I did have an ulterior motive." She scoffed at Elijah's claim. She turned to me as Elijah placed the cups on the table.
"You are aware of the Student Council, yes?" I nodded. "Well, if they are what you call the shields of the school, this year I decided to make the swords," she spoke in a carefree tone.
"The...what?" I asked, not getting her.
She explained as Elijah sat beside me. I rubbed my hand on the sleeping Sylvie in my lap. "As you've already witnessed, an academy full of young hormonal mages brought up thinking they are worth their weight in gold often leads to... problems."
"True," I nodded, remembering the incident that happened today.
"The disciplinary committee will be responsible for upholding peace and enforcing rules on our little school grounds."
"Is that even something a first-year should be a part of? I'm not even a Battle Mage," I reasoned, and she gave me the most obvious answer, "My school, my rules."
Before I could respond, the door knob moved, revealing a young man with blonde hair and slightly elvish ears. "Am I disturbing a meeting?" Lucas spoke playfully as he entered the room, giving a nice little bow to the director. "What's up, Grandma? How have you been?"
The director genuinely smiled as she replied, "How have you been, child? What happened to those little butterflies in your stomach?"
"Oh, they just left," Lucas said playfully, scratching his chin as he picked a chair and placed it beside Elijah.
"Brilliant, solid yellow core. You are at the level of graduates," the director spoke, stunned by his core stage. It was pretty damn impressive for a 14 year old. Lucas just smiled at her as he spoke, "So what were you guys discussing?"
The director replied before I could, "I was just recruiting Arthur to the disciplinary committee."
Lucas nodded. She continued, "I would have honestly wanted you in this, but considering your personality, I don't think you would fit the role."
Lucas nodded again.
"I don't think I'll be joining. I'll just study from the books," I said, declining.
She spoke with a mischievous glint in her eyes, "Those books aren't accessible to underclassmen, and even being an upperclassman, you need to show your deviancy before you could get any, which you can't do at the moment." She chose her words carefully.
I knew she wouldn't give me another choice. "Fine, I'll join," I said, exhausted.
"Great." She summoned a box and threw it at me. She turned to Lucas, sitting beside Elijah. "Also, next week, dear, you'll officially join the Student Council."
"NO," Lucas replied simply.
"Please, dear, won't you join?" the director asked with a brilliant smile.
"No, I can't have that princess bossing me around. No way," Lucas stated his reason.
"Well, that princess could be controlled," she spoke, smiling.
"How?" Lucas looked at her, intrigued.
She turned her face to me. What the hell, old hag, don't spill the beans, I thought, knowing what was about to happen.
"Well, she is Arthur's childhood friend. I believe Arthur here would be able to help you out," she said, smiling at me. There, she spilled the beans.
I looked at both Lucas and Elijah. Elijah had an expression of astonishment and surprise, while Lucas was smiling widely.
Lucas spoke, turning his attention back to the director, "Sure, Grandma."
She nodded and also gave Lucas a box, stood up, and waved at us before she left the room.
"So there won't be any need for kidnapping," Lucas said with a smile, laying back on the bed.
"Arthur, you're friends with the princess???" Elijah's eyes practically popped out of their sockets as he looked at me, completely surprised.
"Yo, chill out, dude. You didn't get this surprised when I told you I'm a Quadra elemental," I tried to calm him down, but it looked like it was inevitable.
I decided to shift the focus. "Hey, Lucas, is the director your grandma?" I asked, noticing how he referred to her.
"Nah, I just call her that. When she came to check on me, I called her 'Grandma,' and it looks like she liked it, so I just kept calling her that," Lucas explained, rubbing his ring casually.
Standing up, Lucas stretched and made his way to the door. "When you guys go out for dinner, be sure to wake me up," he said with a yawn before stepping out of the room.
Elijah and I both waved as Lucas left the room. As soon as the door clicked shut, Elijah turned his head slowly, his smile widening in a way that sent a shiver down my spine.
His voice cracked with excitement as he leaned in closer, "You'll tell me everything about your childhood friend, right?"
