Reborn as Lucas : TBATE FanFic

Chapter 34: Chapter 34

"Yo, Michael." I looked up to see him standing beside me as I sat slouched in my chair, my weight on my knees. He handed me a cigarette. I took it as he lit his own, taking a drag. Smoke curled from his mouth as he lit it, his hair falling over his right eye in an Anakin Skywalker style, I think.

I inhaled deeply, the smoke filling my lungs and the nicotine rushing to my brain, making my head spin slightly. "You know, Shahan fell in love with another girl," I mentioned casually.

"Yeah? What's about it?" he replied, his princely features blurred by the rising smoke.

"Nothing. Just wondering if love is that simple."He looked at me, exhaling smoke.

"No way. I don't think so. And I'm no expert either—never fell in love with anyone. I think it's just lust or maybe hormonal imbalance at our age."

"Could be," I said, taking another drag. "Do you think I'll ever find someone I can love?"

He glanced at me, his brown eyes reflecting his thoughts. "The chances are high, considering there are 7 billion people on Earth."

"What about you?" I asked.

"I don't believe in love at first sight. I believe in growing in love. I'm a religious man, after all," he said with a smirk.

I chuckled, gesturing to the cigarette. "Pretty religious."

"Maybe my philosophy will change when I fall in love myself," he said, taking another drag.

"Maybe," I replied.

"What kind of girl do you like?"

He made a face. "What's up with your questions? Did you fall in love or something?"

"Nah, just curious."

He looked up, exhaling smoke. "I only have two requirements: loyalty and..."

I looked at him. "Loyalty and what?"

Still gazing up, he replied, "Alive."

I chuckled at his serious face, which crumbled into a grin as he joined in my laughter. "Of course, I can't love the dead," he added.

Then, turning to me, he asked, "What about you?"

I took a long drag from the cigarette, holding the smoke in. "Something like you, I guess."

He gave me a disgusted look and slapped the back of my head. "What the hell, bro? I don't swing that way."

"Bro, I meant personality-wise," I said, massaging my head. "I want someone like you who'll like me even if I'm not normal."

I glanced at my missing ring finger, a constant reminder of my insecurity. He followed my gaze and sighed.

"Bro, what the hell? You're still stuck on this? I told you, kids are immature. I know you got bullied for having a missing finger, but you're not a kid anymore."

He paused, then corrected himself. "Maybe more like an adolescent or teenager. Anyway, still, walk out of it. They traumatized you, that's it. Fucking leave that shit now, will ya?" His eyes showed a mix of worry and anger as he looked at me.

"What can I do? I can't get this insecurity out of my head," I remarked.

"It's okay, just fucking think you are Altair, okay? A hidden descendant of him here to kill some Templars," he said, giving me a thumbs up.

I chuckled. "What, and you're Ezio?"

"Of course, Ezio Auditore da Firenze," Kevin said, flicking his cigarette away.

"Now, when the hell will he get the engine fixed?"

"I don't know," I replied, just as the engine of my Hero 2007 with a Sidhu Sticker roared to life.

The mechanic gave a nod and headed back inside his little shop to fetch some lights.

Undisturbed and sleeping soundly with a smile on his face, Lucas lay on his bed. Suddenly, a scaly monstrosity jumped on his face, jolting him awake.

His eyes shot open as he searched for the threat, only to find his bond, Ebon.

"What's up, Father? Don't you wanna go to the academy?" Ebon spoke in his mind, his tone casual.

Annoyed, Lucas asked, "What's the time, Ebon?" as he stretched his body.

"I don't know, maybe dawn," Ebon replied nonchalantly.

Lucas looked at him in frustration. "So you got me up this early?"

Ebon muttered, "Isn't this the same time you wake up?"

He was sort of right. "Yeah, okay." Lucas sighed, standing up from his bed.

"Hey, be sure to make me proud," Father said as I jumped into the wagon.

"Yeah, yeah, sure, just get my place ready," I reminded him.

"Yeah, don't worry about it. And also, if you find a Flamesworth there, beat the shit out of them and show Wykes superiority," Father said, waving his hand.

"Sure, don't worry about it," I said, waving back at him. As the wagon started moving, I settled in, ready for the journey ahead.

"Young Master, best of luck," the driver said with genuine warmth.

"Yeah, yeah," I scoffed, jumping down and gathering my things. Ebon sat on my shoulder, looking at the castle-like building.

As I walked toward the main building, my hands in my pockets, I glanced to my right. There, I saw a girl with white hair and amethyst eyes, her innocence shining through. For a moment, I felt something stir inside me—something I tried to deny but my heart refused to ignore. I was having a heartattack.
