"Little bug, do you think I can't find you if you hide?" I stopped after spraying for a few seconds. This kind of invisibility technique, hiding in the air, is simply overwhelmed by vibration perception.
The reason I fought so carefully was not that I was afraid of killing the opponent but because I was afraid of breaking my own things.
After all, they are all my babies.
"What?!"
After breathing out, a huge monster with blue skin appeared in front of Gust.
Its upper body resembled a humanoid creature adorned with many decorations, while its lower body appeared as a tornado-like airflow.
It also held a strange, large knife in its hand.
"Air Djinn!"
So that's what it was.
There was something about this in my inherited memory. The air djinn is a proud and sharp creature from the Elemental Plane of Air. It has a tall, strong, humanoid body with black eyes and blue skin.
Dressed in breezy silks deliberately fitted to show off its muscular silhouette, it governs floating islands formed by clouds. These islands are filled with massive pavilions, various marvelous buildings, courtyards, fountains, and gardens.
A creature of comfort and ease, the djinn delights in juicy fruits, pungent wines, delicate perfumes, and good music.
Djinn are known for their mischievous humor and friendliness toward mortals.
But this also creates a problem.
They are very easy to deceive.
Some mages exploit this, using certain means to trick these creatures and enslave them.
The djinn's body is often sealed in bottles or jars by these mages.
Sometimes, lucky mortals stumble upon these sealed vessels.
In desperation, the djinn agrees to grant some of their wishes, using the wish spell to fulfill them.
Isn't this the "lamp god"? I felt a little speechless. No wonder it seemed so familiar.
But it also looked delicious.
The air djinn suddenly felt a chill as the black dragon stared at it with that predatory gaze.
It shifted uneasily, immediately causing a gust of wind.
"Fix him quickly!" Gust cast a body resuscitation spell on himself, restoring the wound on his body.
"Don't command me!" the djinn snapped impatiently.
Immediately, several pillars of wind surged toward me.
Air djinn are masters of wind magic, requiring no incantations. Their magic moves as they please.
I flapped my wings to evade the wind pillars, but countless wind blades formed around the air djinn.
They slashed toward me, and these wind blades were far more powerful than the ones Gust had used earlier.
For the first time, I felt some pain.
At that moment, a massive tornado formed beside me.
From a distance, it looked as though the tornado connected the sky and the earth.
I was right at its center.
"This guy knows space magic—can a tornado trap him?" Gust frowned and asked.
"Hehe, according to you humans, this tornado is advanced magic among advanced magic. It's comparable to some forbidden curses. The space inside is affected, making it impossible for him to use space magic. Next, I'll prepare the Great Forbidden Curse: Doomsday Storm!" the djinn explained.
But just then, a blue-gold beam of light, far more dazzling than before, appeared behind Gust.
Puff~
Under this terrifying high temperature, all defensive measures—including the defensive ring and other protective items—became useless.
The armor on Gust's body melted in less than a second under the beam of light.
Gust's terrified face melted along with it. How could I fail? I still have so many cards to play, and the dwarf's strength hasn't even been fully utilized…
The djinn wanted to say something, but after Gust's death, its figure was forcibly drawn back into the ordinary oil lamp.
At that moment, I appeared behind him.
The so-called space interference had no effect at all against my skill, Void Walking.
While the dwarf and Gust were preoccupied with the tornado, I used Void Walking to move to a space about 50 meters behind Gust.
Then, I unleashed a combined version of my heat-ray breath and lightning breath, intentionally controlling the ray's diameter within a certain range.
Neither Gust nor the djinn had any time to react to such a calculated attack.
From my perspective, in terms of raw power, Gust was far inferior to a Balor of the 15th order. He hadn't mastered any remarkable spells, nor was his reaction speed faster than that of an average human.
His strength came from his equipment and his mastery of wind magic. The constant magic surrounding him made him more challenging to deal with.
Anyway, now it was time to collect the loot.
---
"Master Gust was killed!"
"How is that possible? He was a powerful top-level mage!"
"Impossible…"
The surviving human soldiers felt as though the sky was falling.
---
"He actually killed Lord Gust…" Laysa was momentarily stunned.
Was this the strength of the black dragon?
A top-level archmage was dealt with so easily by him.
If that was the case, what was there to fear?
My breath had just carved a deep ditch more than 100 meters long into the ground, with the deepest part exceeding ten meters.
Gust's body was nowhere to be found.
I searched through the ashes for his equipment.
First, I found the oil lamp that sealed the djinn.
Then, there was a red glove, though it was slightly damaged.
I didn't see the defensive ring or the storage magic tool…
The magic power on this top-level equipment should have been immense, but I didn't sense it. Most likely, it had been destroyed.
Still, I didn't give up. The net worth of a top-level mage shouldn't be low, even for a weaker one.
I flew over to the surviving humans. Laysa was holding a sword to Prime Minister Egbert's throat, saying something.
Sean's head was slung across her back. From his terrified expression, it was clear he had been tortured inhumanly before his death.
"Lord Barbatos!"
Seeing me approach, Laysa eagerly came forward and saluted. After all, the situation had shifted from hopeless to a crushing victory.
I was in a foul mood because I hadn't found the storage magic device yet.
"What are you doing?"
"Master, I plan to subdue these people and make them support me as Queen Del!" Laysa explained.
"If I recall correctly, this bug dared to provoke me earlier!" I glared at the old man in front of me with scarlet eyes.
"True dragon… great… my lord! I didn't… it wasn't on purpose…" Egbert stammered, trembling under my terrifying gaze.
I didn't give him a chance. With one swipe of my claw, the licentious old man became an unrecognizable pile of flesh.
"Master Saron, Gust's other belongings should be with his family. I'll retrieve them for you!" Laysa observed my foul mood and wisely refrained from saying more.
She had intended to use Egbert as a pawn before killing him, but now that seemed unnecessary.
"What?!"
Hearing this, my interest piqued. I turned my gaze to Laysa.
"My lord, you may not know, but Master Gust was deeply attached to his family. This was something I discerned through careful observation and quiet inquiries. I thought leveraging his familial bonds would help me gain his favor..." Laysa admitted with a bitter smile.
Fate, however, had other plans. Gust ended up dying in this wilderness, leaving no body behind.
One must remember, Gust had been not only handsome in his youth but also a genius magician, reaching his level in just 230 years.
"Very well. I expect you to bring me my treasure soon. Handle the rest as you see fit!" My eyes lit up at the thought.
I had considered visiting the capital to find Gust's family myself, but with Laysa taking on the task, it saved me the trouble.
As for her embezzling my treasure?
With the parasitism of the Twisted Seed and the surveillance of the Soul Chain, I trusted she wouldn't dare attempt anything.
I left the battlefield with my spoils in tow.
As the black dragon's massive form disappeared into the distant sky, everyone present breathed a collective sigh of relief.
"Everyone, I don't think I need to explain your choices." Laysa turned to the surviving ministers and soldiers, her tone firm and commanding.
Several ministers looked at each other.
One of the younger blond men said, "His Royal Highness Laysa, His Majesty the King, and the Guardian have all fallen one after another. I feel that we should go back to the capital first and then check if there are any outstanding ones—"
Before the minister finished speaking, Laysa stabbed the other party's throat with a sword.
One must know that she had received a lot of resources with the support of the royal family and the kingdom's guardian since she was a child.
Her level as a caster had reached level seven, and her strength as a swordsman was also not weak.
But she had no prestige, especially in front of these people.
At this time, someone dared to jump out and sing a different tune, which happened to be the perfect opportunity to establish her prestige.
"Hehehe~"
Blood gushed out of his throat. The young minister hadn't expected that he would end up like this for merely attempting to blackmail the seemingly easy-to-bully princess.
He had intended to pave the way for his eventual rise to a superior position, assuming the princess had been weakened by the evil dragon's persecution.
But now, it seemed that was not the case…
---
Back at my humble Castle Black Dragon Pond, I began to check my spoils this time.
First of all, the oil lamp containing the djinn was undoubtedly very precious.
Especially for wind mages, it was even more powerful. The reason why that guy had dared to fight me so confidently was likely because of this thing; it definitely played a significant role.
Otherwise, under normal circumstances, top-rank mages were not very willing to confront adult dragons.
After all, dragons are not weak… especially adults.
Then there was the magic storage ring, which was rather useless to me. The magic I could release at once far surpassed what could be stored in it.
Next came the Glove of Greed. I tried it.
Three spells were attached to this glove: "Sharp Hand," "Brute Force of the Bull," and "Endurance of the Bear."
They were all body-enhancement spells, more suitable for the relatively fragile bodies of casters.
Then there was the storage magic device of the king, Sean.
I opened it and began to examine it carefully.
At a glance, there should be at least five or six million gold coins piled up like a mountain.
There were also all kinds of pearls and agates, countless gems, and the like.
Several staffs and big swords radiated faint magical fluctuations.
More than a dozen magic scrolls exuded powerful magical energy.
There were even a few paintings and musical instruments that looked a little old.
Then I suddenly noticed a pile of women's underwear and bras. They were all very small, with plum blossom and cute designs.
Obviously not for adults.
Thinking of that perverted hobby, I couldn't help but sigh—what a beast!
Even in my previous life, this kind of scene might only exist in the dark corners of the rich and powerful.
So, it's not wrong to say that this guy died for good!
These harvests were not bad, as most of them had been in the palace treasury.
Next, I would observe Laysa's methods. If they didn't work, I could only make a fortune and forget about sustainable development.
I didn't want to rule the Kingdom of Del myself. On one hand, it was too conspicuous. After all, ruling a human kingdom openly was equivalent to painting a target on my back.
Who knows what might happen?
The main issue was that I was too lazy; all my efforts were solely for self-improvement.
Power, authority, and the like didn't concern me...
---
A few days later, Laysa personally came to my castle with the storage magic device containing the treasure.
"Lord, here are all the treasures of Teacher Gust, as well as some special items from the palace treasury!" Laysa said, taking out three magic storage devices and a small box.
"Let's see!"
I checked the three magic storage devices first. The gold coins inside totaled more than 200 million, undoubtedly a huge sum.
There were also various magic scrolls and countless other items, leaving me dazzled.
In short, there were indeed many good things.
At this moment, I looked at the small box.
Noticing my interest, Laysa opened it directly.
Inside was a blue oval stone about the size of a human palm.
"Lord, this stone was stored in the royal palace's treasury. It cannot be placed into a storage magic device," Laysa began to explain, but I interrupted her directly.
"Empty Boundary Stone!"
The stone in front of me was recorded in the memories of my dragon inheritance.
Skystone was a very special material.
It could be used to create a space staff capable of unleashing powerful space magic.
Of course, it could also function as a storage magic tool, though most wouldn't use it that way—it was too wasteful!
"Very good!" My eyes shone with excitement.
This Empty Boundary Stone alone was enough to justify this attack, even far exceeding its value!
In the memories of my inheritance, some of my dragon ancestors—true dragons who loved collecting treasures—had never even seen a small piece of this stone in their entire lives.
Seeing my undisguised excitement, Laysa seemed to realize that this stone must be incredibly valuable.
Yet she didn't regret taking it out. To her, trading a stone she didn't understand for my trust was a worthwhile exchange.
"Master..."
Laysa suddenly called out.
In light of the Empty Boundary Stone, I decided to listen.
"What's the matter?"
"Lord, I want safer protection..." Laysa said, removing the black robe she had been wearing.
I looked intently.
I rubbed my temples.
Queen's outfit!
Laysa was wearing a bright red court robe with delicate golden threads embroidered with strange and noble lotus flowers. Her white legs peeked out from the hem.
A string of pearls adorned her delicate collarbone, and her fiery red hair cascaded to her waist.
Atop her head rested a purple-gold crown.
The most striking feature was her demeanor. In an instant, she transformed from meek and humble to cold, arrogant, and domineering—a true queen.
"Lord Barbatos, I, Laysa Sean Root, Queen of the Kingdom of Del, humbly request to shed my former name and take on a new one—Laysa Caesar Volaric. Furthermore, I beseech you to stand as the king behind my throne!" Laysa's voice quivered, each word punctuated by sharp intakes of breath as she struggled to steady the storm of fear within her.
"You've got a lot of guts, tempting me like this," I said jokingly, setting the treasures aside.
"Master, I want to have a closer relationship with you. Our current connection is too fragile," Laysa admitted with a sigh.
