Chapter 19: Erin
Stepping out of Rowen's office, Rachel charged toward Vanessa, blocking her way.
"You—what do you want?"
"All I want is for you to suffer. You slut, you think you can take Rowen away from me? Keep dreaming! Just wait and see... I'll become the next Mrs. Quinn, and you? You'll be nothing but a single mother actress."
"Single mother?" Vanessa's eyes twitched slightly.
"Of course! Or do you think I want to raise that daughter of yours? She's just like her mother an annoying brat. I promise, as soon as I marry Rowen, I'll send her back to you, and he and I will start our own family. Just wait and see."
Hearing this, Vanessa scoffed. "For someone who isn't even his fiancée yet, you sure are dreaming big."
Walking closer to Rachel, Vanessa warned, "Rowen may hate me and want nothing to do with me, but Tara? He loves her more than his own life. You better be careful, or you might just find yourself dead if Rowen ever hears you say that."
With that, Vanessa turned around, ready to leave, but Rachel's next words made her stop in her tracks.
"You might not know, but tomorrow, Rowen is taking me to the most luxurious hotel to celebrate my birthday. And, Vanessa, we're both adults. I'm sure you know what happens in a hotel. Don't worry, I won't mind warming up his bed before marriage. After all, you did the same."
A devilish smile curled around Rachel's lips as she brushed past Vanessa, intentionally hitting her shoulder.
With Rachel gone, Vanessa just sighed. Even after everything, Rowen still hated her. What could she do now?
Just then, Tara and George showed up. Tara smiled and ran towards Vanessa. "Are you done with Papa, Mama?"
Hiding her tears, Vanessa smiled. "Yes, baby, I'm done."
At that moment, Rowen walked out, already dressed. He glanced at George. "Get the car ready. Tara and I will head back early."
"Papa, since we're all going home, will Mama come with us?" Tara asked excitedly.
"That's her choice," Rowen said bluntly, his face unreadable.
Facing Tara, Vanessa sighed. "I'm sorry, baby, but we have to end our fun time here. It looks like it's going to rain, and I have a photoshoot tomorrow. So why don't you go with your Papa? Don't worry, next time we'll have lots of fun."
Vanessa reassured the little girl, who nodded with teary eyes.
"Okay, Mama! Tara loves you." She hugged Vanessa tightly, and Vanessa did the same.
After separating, Tara walked towards Rowen, who picked her up in his arms.
Before leaving, he scoffed. "Photoshoot? Pfft! You claim to have changed, yet you still put your career above your daughter. Lies!"
With that, he left, leaving Vanessa standing there, speechless.
---
The next morning, Vanessa woke up feeling tired and demotivated. She didn't even feel like getting out of bed, but upon hearing a familiar voice, she immediately sat up.
Stepping out of her bedroom, she froze in shock.
"E-Erin?" she stammered, her expression turning cold.
Smiling happily, the casually dressed man stretched out his arms and pulled Vanessa into a tight hug.
"You're back?" she asked, still surprised.
"Of course I'm back, baby. Why? Don't tell me you didn't miss me!" he said, frowning slightly as he pulled away.
"I didn't mean that. I just thought you'd be back later, not this soon."
This was bad. Erin was never supposed to return so early. And even if he did, in her past life, he never visited her at her apartment. What had changed?
Was it her actions altering events, or was she just overthinking?
Smiling, Erin walked to the living room and took a seat. "Well, I missed you so much that I decided to come back early. When I heard about your divorce, I was so happy! Now we can finally be together, and that nasty Rowen won't be able to stop us."
Vanessa forced a small smile. If it were the old her, she would have been overjoyed. But she knew better now she could never trust him again.
Erin had been her boyfriend for almost five years, yet he had cheated on her with her own cousin and used her to ruin Rowen. He and Eunice were the reason she had gotten pregnant with Rowen's child in the first place. Eunice had tried to destroy her career by drugging her, hoping she would sleep with a random thug and ruin her reputation. Thankfully, fate had intervened, and she had ended up with Rowen instead.
Just seeing Erin again made Vanessa want to strangle him. But his next words caught her off guard.
"I've missed you so much, so I've decided today, we're going to the Grand Ki Hotel. It's one of the most luxurious hotels in Graceland, and I booked a VIP lounge just for us. Let's relax and unwind. What do you think?"
He smiled stupidly, while Vanessa nodded. "Sure. I've been feeling exhausted. I guess I do need some relaxation. I'll cancel my photoshoot so we can go."
Turning around, she hid a smirk. The only reason she was agreeing was because Rowen and Rachel would be there as well.
Rachel had crossed the line, and it was time to teach her a lesson. As for Erin?
He was going to suffer.
This time, they would all crumble beneath her feet. No one was going to take what belonged to her not Erin, not Rachel, not anyone.
"Just wait and see, Rachel. I'll teach you a lesson you'll never forget."
