Rebirth: My Healer Wife Owns Superpowers

Chapter 134 - 134: Great General Wang

Chapter 134: Chapter 134: Great General Wang

“Fake brother, where is Sister Yueyue?”

When he got home, Song Gensheng eagerly asked about Qi Yue.

Qi Yue was astonished; after spending so much time with her, the guy hadn’t recognized her identity.

She didn’t know whether it was because her makeup skills were too good, or because Song Gensheng’s eyesight was too poor.

Annoyed, she dropped a line.

“Hold on, I’ll go and bring your Sister Yueyue out.”

Soon Qi Yue reappeared with her original face, and Granny Zhang also reverted to her normal look.

After a cup of tea, Song Gensheng finally connected the two people at home with the couple he had met in the black market and couldn’t help but greatly admire them.

“Sister Yueyue, what kind of face-changing technique is this? It’s amazing; you should teach me too!”

Qi Yue couldn’t resist his persistence, so she grabbed some repackaged makeup for him and showed him how to use it.

Oddly enough, though you could say Song Gensheng was slow-witted, he picked up makeup surprisingly quickly, and in no time at all, he painted his face extravagantly.

“Great, Sister Yueyue, when I go out next time…” he suddenly stopped, glanced at Granny Zhang, “from now on when I go on missions, I’ll use this look to scare those bastards.”

Qi Yue couldn’t help but twitch her lips.

“What scares people is a ghost face, not an extravagant one.”

As she spoke, she adjusted a few strokes on his face and instantly transformed him into a giant panda.

You gotta say, it was quite similar.

Round cheeks paired with big black eyes, short eyebrows… he really looked like a panda.

After their playful antics, the midnight snacks Xiaolian and Cai Wei prepared arrived.

Granny Zhang also excused herself, leaving the front hall to them.

Qi Yue nibbled casually, mainly watching Song Gensheng eat.

“Gensheng, your visit to Longnan Ridge wasn’t just for the black market, was it?”

Song Gensheng chuckled.

“You really know me, Sister Yueyue. I stumbled into the black market by accident. I actually came here looking for General King.”

“Who?” Qi Yue was astonished, “Which General King?”

“Of course, my most admired Zhao Xiyan!”

As soon as Zhao Xiyan came up, Song Gensheng was instantly energized as if injected with a burst of energy, his excited round face flushed.

“Sister Yueyue, didn’t I tell you, Zhao Xiyan was exiled here by the damned Emperor, and shortly afterward he rose again, and the damn Emperor eagerly called him back…did you know, he beat the Fox King of Donggao so badly that the Emperor crowned him General King again…”

“He truly deserves my admiration, I knew he could do it!”

Listening to Song Gensheng’s words, Qi Yue’s heart pounded uncontrollably.

Yes, that man just had that potential.

Even though she had completely removed him from her life, hearing about him still made her heart surge with emotion.

She suppressed the chaotic thoughts in her heart, trying to appear calm.

“Gensheng, didn’t Zhao… didn’t Zhao Xiyan return to the Capital City?,Did he come back here again?”

Hearing this, Song Gensheng slapped his thigh.

“Shoot, it was a misinformation. When I got here, I found out that General King had already returned to the court. I should have come a few days earlier.”

Speaking of which, his spirits lifted again, “He truly deserves my admiration. Just a month after his deployment, the Fox King fled. I thought this battle would last a year or more, but General King resolved it in just a month…”

Qi Yue silently listened, feeling an inexplicably bittersweet emotion swelling inside her.

Having become General King, would Zhao Xiyan still remember how she had treated his leg, allowing him to stand again?

He had passed by the Longnan County Government when he left, yet he never thought to glance her way…

He must have forgotten about her long ago…

“Sister Yueyue, you must also believe now that the Great General is the most formidable man in the world, right?”

“Mm, he is very formidable.”

Hearing this, Song Gensheng cracked a smile, “I knew it, Sister Yueyue would surely like the Great General just as I do.”

These words immediately made Qi Yue blush, and she couldn’t help but cough.

“…What… What do I like about him?”

“Marry him!”

Song Gensheng’s nonchalant tone nearly made Qi Yue bite her tongue.

“What, what did you say?”

“Sister Yueyue, actually, I sought the Great General for two main reasons this time, one of them being for you.”

“For me?” Qi Yue felt an ominous premonition.

“Yes, for Sister Yueyue.” Song Gensheng excitedly stood up.

“Ever since I last parted with Sister Yueyue, I’ve been pondering over something. A woman of your beauty, talent, medical ethics, and kind-hearted nature deserves the best man in this world, and that man is none other than Zhao Xiyan, whom I admire the most!”

“So, I sought the Great General to propose that he marries you! This way, I will have a War God as my brother-in-law!”

Qi Yue pulled a wry smile.

She really had to thank this little brother!

“Brother Gensheng, I think you needn’t bother with such thoughts.”

“Why?” Song Gensheng looked puzzled, “Sister Yueyue, people say the Great General is handsome and extraordinarily strategic, a perfect match for you!”

Qi Yue found herself in a predicament, unable to admit that the unattainable War God brother-in-law was someone she pushed away personally.

Suddenly remembering the White Jade Hairpin, Qi Yue straightforwardly said, “Brother Gensheng, have you ever considered that the War God you admire might already have someone he likes? And I, Sister Yueyue, will certainly not marry a man who harbors affection for another. Do you understand?”

Yet Song Gensheng waved his hands dismissively.

“No, no, no, the Great General has no beloved woman. I’ve already inquired about it.”

Qi Yue was shocked.

“What did you find out?”

“That’s a long story, Sister Yueyue, you must be patient and listen.”

Song Gensheng picked up his tea, gulped down a cup, wiped his lips and began his story.

“A year ago, the foolish Emperor wrongly accused the Zhao Family of forming factions and privatizing power, leading to their exile. Just before the exile, the Great General had an arranged marriage with a woman who was said to be as fat as a pig, ill-tempered, and of horrid character.”

This was the first time Qi Yue heard someone insult her face to face; if it weren’t for the foolish yet endearing Song Gensheng in front of her, she would have slapped him.

However, when Song Gensheng reached the thrilling part, he eagerly pressed on, “Sister Yueyue, guess what then?”

Qi Yue tugged at the corner of her lips, “What else but a divorce?”

“Ah, Sister Yueyue is indeed amazing,” Song Gensheng clapped his hands, “you guessed it right in an instant.”

He went on to embellish the story further, how the two were reasonably separated and never to meet again, painting a narrative more poignant than any storybook.

“Sister Yueyue, how is there such a person in the world, mistaking pearls for fish-eyes? If that woman hadn’t divorced, she would still be the wife of the Great General!”

“But that’s even better now, Sister Yueyue, you can marry the Great General! Let that woman regret her decision!”

“I’ve already planned it. Tomorrow morning, I’m leaving for the Capital City to meet the Great General.”

Seeing that Song Gensheng kept repeating the same few lines, Qi Yue didn’t bother to argue further. After all, there was no chance for her and Zhao Xiyan anyway; why bother dwelling on it?

“Fine, fine, fine, tomorrow morning I’ll get you pearls, but for tonight, let’s rest!”

She truly didn’t want to hear the name Zhao Xiyan ever again.
