Quit being a knight and become a mercenary

chapter 3

3 – Battle of the Chieftain Plain (1)

According to the order, the Dalton mercenaries marched forward in unison as one mass.

Not too fast, but not too slow, while maintaining the speed of walking lightly.

I feel like I want to get out of this square as soon as possible and fight head-to-head with the enemy, but if I get out of the square and run out alone now, it’s like protesting to the enemy to take my neck.

So I didn’t open my mouth and just walked forward with my spear pointed at the enemy in silence. The seniors must have had a hard time enduring this short, long, long time to engage the enemy.

“Those bastards who will pull out the intestines and throw away the sashimi! Just wait there, I’ll put a spear in your stomach!”

“Since the face looks like it was ground with a mortar, it must have been a lot of hard work to live with that face. It’s so pitiful, you f*cking bastards.”

“Why are these f*cking tall dwarfs dressed so fancy? Are you showing us to rob it?”

Including the baron’s other mercenaries who hired us and the Dalton mercenaries, there were close to 160 soldiers, and even the enemy soldiers came out and cursed loudly. It made my ears hurt.

My ears hurt, and every step I took, I felt the pressure of the air around me.

When I was playing the game, I was just playing the main character, so all I had to do was ride out on a horse and randomly slice up enemies, but when this became a reality and I fell into a war in which I took my life with the enemy, it felt different, but it was very different.

“Rookie, you are not afraid, are you?”

When I looked around, Karin, a senior mercenary, was standing there.

As I shook her head, she looked at me with a serious voice that was different from before.

“Keep your head down, and then just look at the feet in front of you and move forward. Don’t look straight ahead until you are told to spear and stab. If you don’t want to die.”

I didn’t quite understand why she suddenly had to lower her head and look at her feet, but she was a mercenary who had been a mercenary much longer than I had.

From what I’ve had conversations with since coming here, she’s usually a bit mischievous, has an easy-going side that knows how to pass over most swear words and harsh jokes, and sometimes treats her kindly by asking her to call her older sister, but she’s a woman who takes care of her work very clearly.

I didn’t think that such a Karin would talk nonsense to me when I first entered the war, so I immediately lowered my head and looked only at her feet.

“Aww, f*ck! My eyes! My eyes! I can’t see!”

“I can’t die like this, damn it. I still haven’t nailed Sarah…”

“Die, you f*cking dog Baron Tyllen, f*ck your ass…”

As I heard the screams of those dying like that from all over the place, I immediately thought that I had made a good decision not to walk with my head up high as I was wary of the approaching enemy.

If I had gone crazy and looked around instead of listening to Karin, I would have seen my allies dying, and I would have been so frightened that I would have been unable to walk with my feet shaking.

But because she listened to Karin, she was able to keep pace with her teammates without thinking about anything, while the rookie scolding continued to be heard next to her.

“f*ck, did you put a dick in your ass? You weren’t hit by an arrow or magic, so why are you f*cking like sh*t already and you can’t move!”

“Don’t you go when I tell you to go forward? Would you come to your senses if you were skewered with a spear stabbed in the back of the f*cking back?”

“Isn’t it nice when you drink with other people’s money? Damn even back then, he was screaming like he would be a hero, and as soon as he stood in front of the window, he was squeezing tears. Aren’t you going?”

I did what Karin told me to do, and I kept moving forward regardless of whether arrows flew towards me or magic fell around me.

I felt like I could see what the situation was like without looking around.

The recruit idiots are trying to run amok to live on their own after seeing the sight of the arrows flying at random with their own eyes, and the other mercenaries must be controlling them to stop them from going rampant and use them as meat shields.

If I wasn’t possessed by Martin Mayer and possessed by some other new idiot, I’d probably be doing that sh*t.

I erased all my thoughts and continued to move forward, when I heard Captain Dalton’s aura from behind.

“Dalton mercenaries, everyone, stare straight ahead! No more arrows will fly!”

Following those words, I raised my head and looked at the front where the enemy was standing.

I couldn’t see all of the enemy from our position in the third row, but it was only about 20 meters away.

Through the cracks, I could clearly see the features of his face, whether he had beards or not, whether he had scars or not, and how shiny the blades were.

When the distance with the enemy became this close, I felt once again that this world was not a game world, but a real world.

“Did your mother and father think of raising you even though they gave birth to you like that? There is no saint.”

“You scumbags that aren’t as good as dwarf f*cks. Even now, open the window and tell her to suck her mother’s breast, and she will let you go.”

“Get out of here, bastards who smell of milk and only know how to suck on one side of a woman’s breast. Or crawls under my crotch, f*ck. “

Unlike me, the senior and senior mercenaries who had killed close to dozens of people on the battlefield were spitting out harsh curse words, but their faces showed clear tension.

“This old man knows the Dalton mercenaries well. Aren’t there kids who don’t even know how to hold a spear? Look, there is no malice from holding a spear. So, where can I use my strength at night?”

“Men have strong backs, but at first glance, they look like bastards who would get hit just by being punched in the air.”

“With the feeling of atonement to the parents who gave birth to you, I will beat and kill every one of them!”

Enemy soldiers are also hurling all sorts of swear words at us, which I thought was the same reason our soldiers swear at the enemy.

The fear of starting a fight to kill each other soon.

But the seniors of our mercenary corps, including me, and the son of a b*tch who should be killed right away by breaking their necks, have a mission to kill the enemy since they are mercenaries.

Casting fear by cursing at the opponent, he moved forward to kill the opponent with his spear.

In the meantime, I heard someone chanting a spell in a loud voice from the opponent’s formation.

“Fire that burns away everything, gather in my hands and reveal your mighty power.”

Every time he cast a spell, particles of a color similar to the color of the aura he had briefly seen with Captain Dalton gathered at the end of the wooden wand of the wizard who was reciting the chant.

Then it gradually changed into a red energy and began to form a ball.

My heart was beating in anticipation that magic, no, what I had only seen through CG in the game was received in real life, but… I was thrilled and excited!

It’s a fireball that looks damn hot just by looking at it, but thinking about it flying towards us in a moment makes me vomit.

“Fireball!”

A ball of fire flew toward me at a speed faster than an arrow.

Scorching heat enveloped me, making me wonder if my body inside my armor was being grilled, and the booming sound of explosions that followed blew my ears.

After a while, the ringing in my ears subsided, and the screams of the seniors around me as they burned to death hit my eardrums.

“Aww, f*ck! It’s f*cking hot! Help me!”

“Water! Someone turn off the lights! Save people!”

The screams of the senior soldier in front of me, the terrible smell and heat of burning human bodies, internal organs and fat, the still roaring flames.

When I lived in Korea, a cruel scene that I had only seen with CG in games and a few sentences of explanation unfolded before my eyes, plus heat, smell, and even screams.

For a moment, it seemed as if my head became completely white.

Fortunately, the enemy’s magician fired the next fireball somewhere other than me, so on the first day of Bing, I didn’t get hit by magic.

f*ck, if I just die without getting a chance to play an active part in the war, I don’t think I’ll be able to leave this life even if I die of resentment.

“Aim the spear! Square! Fill in the seats of the cubs in front! Absolutely protect the formation, if the formation collapses, we all die! You f*cking bastards!”

This is what Captain Dalton said just now, which I often hear in games.

As a player, when I was commanding a mercenary group or a lord’s army in a war, when the formation collapsed, the army collapsed like a bowling pin and was utterly annihilated.

Thus, I stood at the forefront of Bangjin with the determination not to back down no matter what.

“Fuck you, you motherfucker who looks like your father’s dick, die!”

I stood at the front of the mercenaries, pointed my spear at the enemy, and moved forward.

The guy approaching me from the front stabbed me with a spear first.

“Die, you f*cking motherless son of a b*tch!”

But it was slow. It was slow enough that I could clearly see where the spear was aiming and stabbing me.

If this is enough, it’s worth a f*cking try, try dying to the new meat shield once.

Following the memories left in my body, I opened the spearhead of several meters and walked at once, then aimed at the heart that was under the quilted armor he was wearing and pierced his long spear accurately.

When I felt the sensation of the spear entering quite deeply and pulled it out right away, the enemy mercenary who was about to stab me fell down with his front end stained with blood.
