Quit being a knight and become a mercenary

chapter 22

22 – Battle of Primer Plains (1)

The Ten Commanders and officers gathered before the captain arrived and started chatting.

“f*ck, this time, the dirty cubs like the pillar and the cubs were hired as a huge baby. Shouldn’t we break the contract and run away right now?”

“Did you only hear a lump of iron or a loaf of bread in your brain? He just said something like bad breath and fell asleep.”

“No, Platoon Commander Walter. f*ck, did I say something wrong?”

The platoon leader called Valter put some Aura on the head of another Ten Commander and hit it.

No, it was just a word punch. It was practically the same as punching.

“I’m a f*cking idiot. Did the bastard who lived as a mercenary for over 10 years eat it with his f*cking asshole?”

In novels and cartoons, it seems like it’s common for mercenaries to sign a contract with a client and openly fight each other while fighting each other, or to just eat money and bounce or destroy it.

In reality, if we do sh*t like that, it will become a rumor and no one will trust us and hire us next time.

I once signed a contract with someone else’s money, but if you do something that stands out at the most important moment, there’s no guarantee that you won’t do that again.

Knowing that, the commander of the Ten Commandments could no longer grumble and quietly made up his mind.

That’s when I felt someone slap me on the back.

“Hey Martin, you f*cking bastard.”

I looked back and there was Fjord.

From the first time I met him, he acknowledged my abilities, and when I played an active part in the Battle of the Chieftain Plains, he said let’s do well and bought alcohol and meat, so I thought I was a decent person.

As soon as I was promoted to the rank of Captain of the Ten Commandments, I knew that I would no longer be of any help to him, and from then on, he turned into a scumbag who harassed me for all sorts of reasons.

He’s probably doing that because he’s mad at the fact that he hasn’t been promoted to platoon commander for over 10 years and has been playing the role of a 10-year-old captain.

“Why are you calling, Captain Fjord Dec.”

“Did you hear the news? This time, Count Philo and Count are distracted and acting like f*cking idiots.”

“Yes, I heard that you hired 3,000 mercenaries to destroy the county of Salzheim. Those are also bastards with names that are much stronger than the Tristan guys I dealt with last time.”

The last time I had my first battle, the Tristans I dealt with were just average mercenaries, but the guys I’m dealing with this time are said to be quite a bit quick-witted among the mercenaries.

And the original main story of the world in this game is still there, but according to the story that comes out while attacking Lucia, there will be a ‘black bear mercenary’ that will act as an intermediate boss in the later half.

‘It means that gintobaegi will come out, not idiots who can freely slice and dice like Tristan’s.’

Fior looked at me and smiled exaggeratedly.

“Damn it, this bastard’s liver is a mess? I acknowledge your skills, but they are no f*cking joke. Still, this bastard is f*cking bluffing. Why, Shiva Karin likes that?”

Hearing that, I gnashed my teeth.

I really want to kill that f*ck, but I’m just ashamed if I go to this provocation and punch on my face.

‘If a bastard worse than a dog tries to hit me with a fist, I’ll just turn it into a blood clot.’

I really resent the fact that if a coward confronts me with force, he knows there will be no answer, and he won’t kick or hit me.

The other guys also didn’t agree with this, but when there was a fight, they snooped around thinking about watching, and the idiots who are friendly with Fjord covered their mouths and sighed.

f*cking bastards, if you were born with a dick, why would you laugh openly like a man?

“Don’t mess with Karin. Now, he is my subordinate anyway.”

“Yes, yes. You’re right, I’m jealous that you’re doing so f*cking well. Martin-nim, who became the captain of the 1st corps within a month of entering the mercenary army. Looking at it from now on, I think I will have to hit it on the head.”

But now I’m on the same level as this guy, so I can reciprocate the sarcastic remarks.

“Second to the fact that Count Philo and Count are crazy, what are you going to do then? Anyway, I have to make a decision anyway. Damn, isn’t it better to live once than to be scared like a rat in front of a f*cking cat? A man is one room.”

“Is the kid so grown up?”

“I owe a lot of money.”

Fjor has a lot of time but lacks skills, and I don’t have time, but I’m already skilled enough to be offered a position as a knight.

In other words, as long as I prove my ability, no kid can say anything about rubbing this much.

Fior frowned in front of me, then suddenly laughed with a bright smile.

“If you’re that confident, why don’t you at least volunteer to be at the vanguard of our mercenary force? You know? Being a vanguard is f*cking dangerous, but it pays off a lot of credit. If you’re a real man, Martin, who gave up even the position of a knight who rolled in because he was anxious to succeed as a mercenary, then you have to be at least the vanguard, right?”

Mercenaries who want to make money and get ahead generally like to be at the forefront of battle, but in a battle where both quantity and quality are unfavorable, standing at the front is the perfect thing to die.

So, since that bastard bluffed at me, he seems to be encouraging me to die somewhere. Do you think I will die in a place like this?

The moment I was about to retaliate with words, Captain Dalton entered the tent.

“f*ck, why is it so loud? Have you blown bottles as a group?”

When the captain of the mercenary corps told him to shut up, everyone instantly became a group.

Dalton grabbed his head and sat down in his chair.

It was a sign that just looking at it made me feel dirty, revealing that it looked like sh*t.

“f*ck, I feel like I’m going to cry when these bastards, who are called pillars of the mercenary army, are talking like little girls. If this was going to happen, would you even openly ask me why I was on the side of Count Salzheim? Why are you talking so much behind the scenes?”

It was Dalton who proposed to fight under the command of Count Salzheim, but we were the ones who warmly welcomed the proposal.

To be precise, other executives, including Dalton, suggested joining because they thought they would be able to make a big deal if they joined under Count Salzheim, and I wanted to overcome this crisis and blow my reputation.

Dalton wrapped a blue light aura around his body and hit the desk with it.

A large fist-shaped hole appeared in the desk made of fairly thick wood.

“Well, strictly speaking, it’s my fault for making a mistake. What can I do? Everyone wake up, let’s get ready for the game tomorrow, you f*cking bastards.”

At that, we all nodded in agreement.

“First of all, our mercenaries were so f*cking insane that they took on the vanguard. I don’t know if His Excellency Count Salzheim really likes us, or if he intends to use us as a meat shield. So damn, we need four idiots to stand in the vanguard. Who would you like to apply for?”

I was confident that I would fight well no matter where I threw the guys under me like crazy, but I kept my mouth shut because there was nothing good about me.

The other guys stood in the vanguard and probably didn’t like being killed by dogs, so no one applied.

Dalton sighed.

“f*ck, if you stand in the vanguard this time, I’ll tell the Count to double your war allowance and I’ll get it. Think again, you assholes.”

Mercenaries are paid a monthly salary, but in fact, they receive a lot of money as a war allowance.

Right now, that damn Fjord got his 3 month salary as a lump sum because I was active the other day.

“…… “

“f*ck, I like motherf*cking bastards. Then I just pick someone.”

Then old Fior opened his mouth.

“Why don’t you put Martin in the vanguard? He did well last time, so he will do well this time.”

I am not an idiot either, and Dalton, who has been both a knight and a mercenary, would of course know very well what the f***er meant when he said that.

Isn’t it obvious that he didn’t mean to f*ck me up, or rather, he’s cursing the new recruits to die?

When Dalton heard that, he looked at me and asked, ‘f*ck, what are you going to do?’ I just nodded.

“Okay, then let’s do this. Put Martin and Fior in the 2nd position of the vanguard. Even though Martin is strong, there is no other person he can use other than Karin, so Fior take care of Martin when he shovels.”

At that, Fior put on a look like his life was ruined and opened his mouth wide.

I was trying to f*ck my idiot and people.

But when I look back on the days when I was under that nobleman, I feel like I have to clean all the sh*t.

And Dalton didn’t even listen to the other guys, and immediately cast lots.

“Palmer, Bond. f*cking lucky bastards, you guys are the winners. In the future, the vanguard will be Palmer, Bond, Martin, and Fior Ten Ligament if things go wrong. Then everyone disbands. And damn, I don’t know about any other day, but tonight, if you get caught drinking or having s*x, I’ll bend your back and make you suck your own dick with your mouth, so you can sleep on your own.”

**

And the next day I stood in the vanguard and watched the army led by Count Philorand.

They appear to be pretty strong enemies in the game, but seeing them in person, their momentum was incredible.

“Damn it, the whitebeard mercenaries are f*cking damned in the original game because I told them to deal with these bastards.”

But when I saw it, I thought it was worth trying.
