Chapter 41: 40. Exchange with Kyoto part 1

Chapter 40

The moment for the first exchange event between Tokyo and Kyoto Magic Colleges to begin has finally arrived. Both teams have taken up positions, waiting for the start.

- One minute left until the competition begins! - Satoru Gojo's voice came from the gramophone next to us. - And now, a minute of inspirational speech from our beautiful Utahime-sensei.

- What? - the girl who didn't expect such a trick shouted. - Um... Uh... Nothing can be done if someone gets hurt, but you know what... help each other...

- Time's up!

- Wha-? Hey Gojo!

- And now the tournament begins...

- Respect your senpai!

- Let's start! - Satoru shouted again about the beginning, before laughing at the girl's completely offended snort.

Meanwhile, while everyone was running through the forest, I immediately teleported into the sky right in the middle of the territory allocated to us. The guys and I immediately agreed that before I started acting, I would give them enough time to show myself, remaining just an observer until a certain moment. After all, that same Maki and her sister have their own showdown.

- However, even though they asked to let them show themselves, who said that I can't not let the opponents score points for killing curses. - I said out loud with a playful smile, taking a bow out of my inventory. For quite a long time now, I have not been able to finish the daily quest to advance my shooting to the intermediate level, and I hope that now I will be able to cross this threshold.

Now I was watching our team's movements very carefully. They were running fast through the forest following Megumi's wolf familiar, who was supposed to lead them to the curse, which, in fact, happened after about a minute of running.

It was a small and rather weak curse in the shape of a spider, hanging from a tree branch on the path belly up. Upon seeing it, Maki immediately rushed forward to earn the team's first point.

- Senpai, stop! - Megumi hurried to stop the girl and, fortunately, she obeyed, because the next moment, Todo Aoi appeared, smashing the tree on which the curse was located into splinters.

- Excellent! As I expected, my sister won't interfere right away! - the half-naked man thundered with a mad grin. - Attack! All at once!

Following the big guy's request, Itadori instantly found himself next to his opponent and, grabbing Todo's head with his hands, drove his knee right into his face, while the others, splitting into two teams, ran away.

"Good speed." Todo said, spitting out a small clot of blood, while his face looked unharmed, causing Itadori to become even more wary.

"I'm going to hit back, first year. Watch out!" Todo warned with a grin.

The next moment, several things happened at once. For some unknown reason, the curse that had not escaped appeared right between Itadori and Todo's fist, but before the fist could touch the spider, an incredibly fast arrow pierced the head of the curse, giving a point to Tokyo College, and then the spider's body slightly reduced the incredible force of the first-rank mage's blow, But even so, the body of the curse literally evaporated, and Itadori, who covered himself with his hands, flew at least 30 meters before crashing into a centuries-old oak tree, clearly feeling that if the body of the curse had not taken some of the damage, he might have lost his hand.

It was a pity that Itadori was not given time to think, because his head was then smashed into a tree by a kick. The big guy, who was about to kick again, stopped when he saw that his opponent was not moving and was half lying in the tree with his bloody head lowered.

- That's it... So who should I follow now? - Todo said with a satisfied smile, getting ready to pursue the other students of Tokyo College.

- Ugh. - Itadori groaned, attracting the big guy's attention.

- Are you serious? - Todo turned his attention to the enemy he thought he had just defeated in surprise.

- How dare you hit me on the head? What if I become even more stupid? - Itadori shouted, albeit with difficulty, but stood up. His hair and forehead were covered in his own blood.

- Don't worry. Takada-chan says that "the dumber the boys, the cuter they are."

- And who is this? I don't give a damn about idols.

- Then how do you know she's an idol? - Todo chuckled. - First year, what's your name?

- Itadori Yuji.

- Okay, Itadori Yuji. I have only one question for you. - Todo began to speak with a crazy smile.

- What type of girls do you like?

- My type of girls? What kind of question is that? - Itadori was surprised, after all, no one had told him how our acquaintance with Todo had gone.

- Don't worry. I'm just checking you out.

"I didn't quite understand, but if we're going to talk about it…" Todo was ready to be disappointed at his words, however.

- That's a tall girl with a big butt. Probably like Jennifer Lawrence.

Hearing Itadori's answer, Todo Aoi's non-existent memories flashed before his eyes, about how he had a best friend, Itadori Yuji, in school, about how he was going to confess to Takada-chan, and his best friend talked him out of it, about how he was rejected, and Itadori treated him to ramen as a sign of consolation.

A rather wild picture appeared before my eyes and Itadori's eyes. Todo raised his face to the sky and roared silently, tears and snot literally flowing like a stream.

- "Invincible"...

- What?

- It looks like you and I are "best friends".

- You literally just found out my name!
