Chapter 11: Cranston's Book Store
The look on her face when she saw the bun in front of her shattered my heart. I knew she wouldn't eat it unless I made her, so I reached over, grabbed it and stuffed it in her face. Crude, but it worked.
The giggle that echoed through my eardrums made Azazel purr. The white frosting on her face made my eyes narrow as lust flashed through me. She wiped it off her nose with her thumb, making direct eye contact with me as she sucked it.
I pulled in a sharp breath as I leaned forward, a devilish grin on my face.
"Don't tease me like that little lamb," I pushed my upper body across the table, my face merely inches in front of hers as I seductively said, "Or I'll take you to that alley there and show you what it's really like to do some sucking".
A sharp pain ran up my shin as I quickly sat back down. My grin turned into a frown as I grumbled, taking a bite of my bun. Mid-chew, that God-awful shrill voice of Marie interrupted my peace and eye fucking of Lilith.
"Of course, she's made you buy her sweets. Just look at her," She walked by us, turning her nose up. I stuck my foot out, tripping her. She yelped as she fell face-first onto the floor. Her little group behind her gasped. She sobbed as she pushed herself up. She held her nose as blood streamed through her hand. I heard a sharp breath from Lilith, who quickly turned away as a speck of black started to take over her eyes.
Marie extended her hand up to me, as she sobbed. "Sebastian! That whore tripped me! Help me up!"
Glaring down at her, I turned on my best acting skills.
"Oh no! How terrible", my fake tone completely obvious, causing Azazel to laugh. I stuck my foot out; it was inches away from her face. "If you want help, lick my boot like the dog you are", I flashed an evil toothy smile as Lilith snapped her head towards my direction.
She pushed out of her seat, as she knelt next to Marie, she placed her hand on her arm. Marie snapped her hand back, sending a slap right across Lilith's face. Before I even knew what I was doing I had the poor woman up in the air, holding her roughly by her shoulders. She cried as blood dripped onto my face.
"You don't EVER..." I pulled her closer to my face as I growled low and rough, grinding my teeth, "Touch her!" I dropped her roughly on her feet as she wobbled, found her footing and ran off. Her group slid by me, silently as they averted their gaze to the floor.
"Fucking useless aristocrats," I spat at the floor. My days of fooling around are catching up to me. I took a knee in front of Lilith, softly grabbing her chin, lifting her face towards mine. She swatted my hand away. She stood up brushing herself off as she turned to face me.
I sighed, as I stood up. Her face was expressionless, making me feel like the little crack I did manage to make disappeared. She picked our trash up off the table, taking it to dispose of it.
"Where to next?" she calmly said. I so badly wanted to pry. What has she been through to just brush this kind of thing off? I crossed my arms as I pondered what to say. What happened next caught me completely off guard.
She reached up, her finger swiping my cheek softly as she brought the blood splatter from Marie to her mouth, licking it. I froze, staring at her. Azazel howled and lurched forward; it took everything I had to restrain him.
"Sorry..." She bowed and then turned away from me. Her shoulders were trembling. I walked up next to her, placing my hand firmly on her. "Bookstore?" I raised a brow at her as I headed down the walkway. She quickly followed behind me, right on my heels. I could feel the steam rolling off me from how excited Azazel was. He kept chanting in the back of my head, "Mate".
We walked for a bit, window shopping as wonder crossed her face. It was obvious she'd never been to Astion's marketplace. She paused, looking at a beautiful pink dress. She stiffened up as she turned her attention away from it.
"If you want, we can go and try it on," I shrugged, knowing it'd be a bad idea. She shook her head.
"I... Can't wear those kinds of things." She wrapped her arms around her waist, trying to hide her curves as she continued forward. I grumbled a very audible growl of disapproval that caused her to snap her head back towards me.
"It's because it restricts movements, and my line of work requires me to... be nimble," she turned her nose up at me as she headed back down the street. I did not believe her one bit.
We finally made it to the bookstore. I stepped up, opening the door for her. She tilted her head down in a nod as she thanked me, stepping through the door frame. I let a soft smile creep across my face. The door closed behind me as the smell of paper and ink hit my nostrils, causing them to flare.
Welcome to Cranston's Book Store! If you need any help, just ring the bell!" The bookkeeper dinged the bell that sat at the front. I strode up to the counter, leaning on it as I watched Lilith inspect the shelves.
"Do you have a piece of paper I can borrow?" I raised a brow at the elderly gentleman. He nodded, reaching under the table and pulling out a pen and ink along with a piece of paper. I quickly jotted down, "She can't know, so don't say anything, but I'm looking for books on the Lahnust clan." I placed the pen down, sliding the sheet towards the shopkeeper. He picked it up, adjusted his glasses as he mouthed what was on the paper.
Lilith pulled a book down off the shelf, opened it up and scanned it. She flicked a look at me as she snapped the book closed, putting it back where it was. She went and made her way to another shelf.
When she was out of ear shot, the bookkeeper whispered to me. "It's in the back; I'll go wrap it up with you." He patted the counter as he waddled to the back. I shoved off the counter, making my way to the aisle Lilith was down. I slowly crept up to her.
"Anything particular you're looking for?" I whispered in her ear. I could have sworn I heard a soft moan escape from her lips, causing my eyes to narrow in on her neck. I bit my lip hard as she took a big step forward away from me. She cleared her throat as she turned to face me.
"No, just browsing." She smiled, tilting her head coyly as she turned back to the shelves. I ran my hands through my hair as I took a deep breath. Azazel was rumbling within me, as I felt my groin press against the seams of my pants. She really enjoys giving us blue balls, doesn't she?
I turned and headed back to the front, mumbling to myself. The old man came back from the back, as he placed a small book down. I walked up, pulling my coin purse out. He put his hand up, shaking his head.
"Quite alright, it's been sitting there in the back for decades." He smiled at me as he picked it up, handing it to me. I took it and slid it into my pocket. I turned and called for Lilith.
