Powers Against The World

Chapter 49: Some Actual Resistance

Youden peered through the binoculars that they found at that stadium twenty miles away, only sixty miles away from the capital, behind a tree on a small but steep hill. Despite him holding that one force back, they went through little resistance, until they could see it about a mile away. That's when some of Saputa's army appeared from the woods, and began using their powers against them. It gave those fleeing the area about an extra day, but soon enough, his own men were able to push through and forced that force to retreat. There wasn't much left around, as he remember going inside a large grey building, as his men were looting for medical supplies. He could tell the people running the tournament had to leave in a rush, as things were scattered everywhere.

Back to the present, he could see the town of Deiram, about five miles ahead, with several fires not far from it. He could see a roadblock not that far up ahead with many of Saputa's soldiers on standby, stopping his forces who were hiding in the woods in front of it, from proceeding any further. He nodded to a solider who left the position coming back down the hill. A few minutes later, dirt was flung where the block was, forcing the nation's troops to scramble. Powers were being used on both sides, as he could here shots from his taboons being fired and the tarrs in this force beginning to crawl ahead. He hoped the battle would end in the morning as he walked back down the hill.

They already were off a few days, and the planned annexation was slowly getting pushed back. The attack on the capital wouldn't happen until five more days, when they would begin dropping bombs, and another two weeks until enough forces arrived to help take over the area. As Youden reached the base of the hill, he noticed a shine at the corner of his eye, and fired a ball of light in it's direction. He could hear screams as people collapsed from the woods behind him, others charging and using their powers on him.

"It's another ambush!" a soldier cried, covering him, before getting struck down.

Youden sighed and kicked the dead body out of the way. With his hand out, all the fired attacks were being shifted into the palm of it. Once he had enough of it's energy, he instantly appeared in front of the group of ambushers and fired away. A big boom could be heard for miles, as thick smoke was raised into the air.

Hopping back, Youden turned around, his soldiers staring at him in awe.

"What are you looking at? Keep attacking!" he roared at them.

They nodded and continued their assault ahead. He was holding back, as that was just him barely trying. Plus, he could see the long line of carriages at the edge of the town, Boom probably with them. He could attack him now, but Youden wanted him to watch the country burn first. It would only please him, after everything he's been through. Then when the time was right, Youden would end his life. What a day it will be, the world free from him. He would make his last minutes on this crappy planet worse.

"Sir, they aren't backing off that easily, even with the tarrs!" someone yelled at him.

"Keep firing! We have plenty of resources compared to them." he grinned.

"But we're outnumbered three to one." the person stuttered.

"Do you want to die? Shut up, and keep attacking!"

Silence occurred between the men except for the fighting, as the force he was with crept up closer, continuing the barrage. Another nearby Ariocaster flew ahead, dropping a bomb over the Saputa's troops, powers being fired upon it, damaging it slightly. The bomb pushed more dirt around the air, as it began to spread their troops out more, and slaying those in it's range. It was going just the way he wanted it.
