Chapter 327: We'll Be Locked Here Forever
The command center for Appleridge wasn't as nice as Jamal would have thought it to be, although that should have been expected. Dirty and uncolored walls kept the atmosphere as desperate as possible, and made the man almost think they had little time to set up an actual plan. The current room they were in was just the lobby itself, with a few chairs spread about to make it seem as if this place was some sort of office.
"What in the world is this?" Jamal muttered to himself, as the lead soldier moved towards a blue door by the furthest wall.
"Your new home." the soldiers keeping him in check replied with a grin, "Get used to it."
The man kept silent as the lead member finally opened the door to be greeted by a tight metal hallway. Before getting any time to analyze his new surroundings, Jamal was quickly pushed through, the barrels of the weapons against his back and pressing down hard. His mental strength was tough, but even he probably couldn't keep it together for longer in his current state.
The journey was brief, as there were no more doors or openings available, as the group reached the door down the hall, a dark metallic grey shining with the surroundings. The leading member of the entourage banged against it three times, stopping briefly before hitting the final one. A creak swiftly followed, with the sight of a masked soldier peering down the hallway. Their eyes landed on Jamal, as they both stared each other down for a brief moment. After that, the soldier finally fully opened the door for the group to be greeted by large machines and people in uniform fatigues working around the clock with different sets of radios. So they finally made it.
"Who are they?" a large man wearing a crisp military cap with some type of emblem looked at the newcomers, "How were you granted access here?"
"Sir!" the soldiers with Jamal in hand filed in, holding a solid salute, "We, under the 98th battalion for-"
"Look, we don't really have time or care about what division you're in. Who is he?" the clear commander of the operation pointed towards Jamal.
"Oh, sir." the leading soldier of the capturing group stepped forward, "It's the one and only, Jamal Wrint."
Those words stopped the work everyone was focused on doing, as the only sounds were the noises coming in from other radios. All their trouble could potentially end with the most dangerous man in the world in their fingertips. Could they have pulled that off?
"Someone give me that poster, and quick." Hector Nerca waved over, as he was handed one swiftly.
Holding it up against Jamal's face, the man wanted to spit and kill this commander guy, if he wasn't being restrained heavily at the moment.
"Holy fuck. Ladies and gentlemen, we got him!" The Defense General was at a real loss of words, although this announcement just changed the outcome of everything. "Leave him with us, we'll get to know each other well. I will let your detachment know of your hefty reward that will take care of all your families, for generations."
Jamal could just practically open his mouth at those words, as his captors skipped away in joy, no longer a care in the world but surviving this battle for a changed life. At least that was what it seemed like until the door closed and everyone within started to laugh.
"Of course Youden wouldn't give them that much money for you, despite all the trouble you've given us." Hector walked around Jamal like a specimen, the tight cuffs and ropes giving him no breathing room to punch this clown in the face, "Anyway though, before you get comfortable with the few moments you'll have left in this world, I just got to let you know that I'm Hector Nerca, the new Defense General of all of Youdenia. With all the silly little games and lives you've taken, your antics and chaos are over. I don't play cat and mouse with my prey, I'm the whole jungle."
Those words didn't really intimidate Jamal, although knowing his time was soon to come wasn't the reinsurance he wanted. Time was not being his friend, and he needed to play his cards right, so the stars could align, and for the man to be able to light this place up in his own exlirating escape. Just having to wait for his time was all he could truly do, as the soldier now locked with him began dragging him towards a cell with enough room for him to only stand. Who was really going to break first, them when he got out, or him and Jamal's very own downfall, with only destiny deciding that outcome.
