Chapter 322: The Future Coronation
The turbulence was barely noticeable, although Youden could feel every single little bump. It didn't bother him in the slightest, as to be expected, but it was his impatience getting to him. The exhausting flights between Youdenia and other nations were long enough, but from the enemy continent back to just the former island nation of Cenu alone, was a twenty-two-hour flight. There was just enough fuel for the aircraft to make it there, but it was risky. But that didn't matter, as the trip back to the mainland of his future empire was more important.
"Everything going well, sir?" An aide already had a tray of his lunch in hand, roasted chicken and vegetables.
"It will be once we're back. Thank you." Youden nodded as the platter was placed in front of him.
"Say, you never told me about why we needed to go back to Youdenia with how things are moving across the front, sir?" General Kenio was with him, a platter of food placed in front of him as well. "Is it that urgent?"
"Ah yes, it's for the coronation!"
"Coronation?" Kenio could see an interested look on the dismissed aide through his peripheral.
"Yes, it's finally time to change the name of our nation and officially have me as Emperor. Emperor Youden, such a nice ring to it."
"But why aren't the other generals with us then, and only me?"
"Because I need someone to help organize a defense and protection to keep me safe from any possible outside activity. This will be quite the event, and I know there are enemies of the state likely brewing around from within. The rare chance for me to be killed is right there waiting to happen, and you're the best option I think we have in preventing that from going on."
Kenio could only nod in agreement, as a peek through the window showed the sun slowly fading away over the flatter landscape, signaling that they were approaching the ocean soon enough and over the various islands they had to capture before even getting to land here. It was quite the sight regardless, but he could only enjoy the peace for a little, before Youden turned on the Ariocaster's radio, some old Saputan music playing in the background.
"This brings me back. To those days as a kid, huh?" Youden chomped on the chicken with delight, almost gleaming with joy. "When this is all over, we will finally be free."
"To the future emperor?" Kenio held up his glass of wine.
"To the future emperor and the happiness I will undoubtedly serve as it." the stronger man clinked his glass with his general, ready to hold onto his promise.
The new world order was only getting started, and the pace towards liberty and Youden's ideals would spread among the people. As long as things went his way, would that reality become not only possible, but true, in his very own eyes.
