Chapter 23: Choices and Decisions



Understanding the difference between Magic Skills verse abilities Cipher decided to find a few abilities. Cipher decided that he would look at abilities first due to the fact that they would be tied to him, and there were two abilities that were at the forefront of Cipher's mind. [Cipher~Dem can you pull up a list of abilities that involve immunity?] {DEM~Sure would you like the base level immunities or higher class?}. Cipher thought for a moment, it might be nice to have a higher class immunity, but he also wanted to get a Magic Skill or two if possible. [Cipher~Lets start with the base level ones first, can they be upgraded later on?] {DEM~ yes they can, here is the list?}

Looking through the list Cipher saw some interesting abilities, one was (Demonic Power Immunity) it cost a whooping 10,000DC though, Cipher thought it was interesting but it wasn't like he needed it at the moment. Then Cipher found the first ability he wanted (Control Immunity), it cost 10,000DC though as well. [Cipher~DEM why do these cost so much? It doesn't make sense it is going to take take a while to get that many credits.]

DEM answered Cipher quickly, It was a question that was expected to come up at some point so DEM already had an answer prepared. {DEM~Yes they do cost a lot, but that is due to the effect they give, they give the user immunity to all magic and abilities pertaining to that immunity. You will also find out that after you complete an assignment given by the Goddess of the Void you are given a number of Dream Credits equal to the difficulty of the assignment.}

Cipher felt a little relieved if he had to go searching for nests of Nightmares just to get Dream Credits he knew it would take a while, also he figured he wouldn't be able to do that anyway since it would go against the whole balance thing. Getting back to the list there was one Immunity that Cipher was still hoping to find and get. [Cipher~DEM can you find me Poison Immunity?] Taking a brief moment DEM pulled up what Cipher was looking for, {DEM~ Here it is (Poison Immunity) - 1,500DC Immunity begins at D-Class. Poisons ranked D-Class or lower user will be immune to, user can increase the Poison Immunity ability by upgrading it through the shop or by experiencing different poisons and toxins to level it up.}

After reading the description Cipher didn't hesitate, he bought the ability and spent the 1,000DC. Cipher realized to others it may seem like a waste to have this ability, hell Cipher had immortality, but that didn't mean he was immune from all the effects of poisons, just those that would cause him to die. That was why he was looking into abilities involving immunity, Cipher wanted to protect himself. Thinking about protecting oneself Cipher thought of another ability he could utilize, actually it seemed like an obvious one given that Cipher was a Knight of Light. [Cipher~DEM is there an ability that deals Light?] DEM searched the list and found one pulling it up for Cipher. (Photokinesis - Better know as (Light Manipulation or Light Ability) Users with this ability will be able to bend, shift, focus, and generate light in various ways. Light Manipulation can use their ability in tandem with light-based attack spells making them more effective and gives them the ability to manipulate the spell.

Cipher thought a light-based ability would be perfect when dealing with Nightmares. Cipher might not be able to completely kill them with the light ability alone, but if he could find a way to combine Extradict with it then he could use light to eradicate the Nightmares. Looking at the Light Ability cost 2,000DC, Cipher didn't mind so he purchased (Photokinesis) he knew that the ability would be worth it. Cipher still had two spells he wanted to get, switching to the spell menu. After searching the list and not finding what he was looking for Cipher asked DEM, [Cipher~ DEM can you bring up a list of spells that I can utilize with the Twin stars? If possible I would like the elements associated with the spells to be light-based or fire-based.] Shuffling through the list DEM pulled up two spells that seemed to fit what Cipher was looking for, {DEM~ Here are two spells that seem to fit your criteria.}

Looking at the spells DEM pulled up they were exactly what Cipher was looking for.

1,000DC (Blade of Flames) allows users to engulf their weapons in flames not only cutting enemies but damaging them with fire as well. Warning: Fire does not immediately extinguish once the spell is completed, as flames are a natural element they may persist past the duration of the spell that initiated them.

1,000DC (Blade of Light) allows users to channel light energy into their weapon, damaging enemies with light energy and their physical weapon. Users with Photokinesis Ability will also be able to create a blade of Light, a physical manifestation of light energy that can be used to attack. Cipher purchased skills spending 2000 Dream Credits on spells and 3000 Dream credits on the two abilities leaving him with 525DC.
