Chapter 33: Chapter 33: The Iron Shell Pupa Begins to Evolve!
"Bi~"
After another successful battle, Pidgeot gracefully descended from the sky, looking at Robert as if expecting praise.
"Well done, Pidgeot! Your strength and technique are becoming more refined with every battle. If you continue at this pace, you'll be able to take down weaker opponents in a single blow." Robert smiled, reaching out to gently pat Pidgeot's head.
"Ah~"
Not wanting to be left out, Charmeleon quickly ran over and nudged Robert's free hand, demanding attention. Even though it hadn't fought in this particular battle, it had been in several skirmishes earlier and clearly felt it deserved recognition too.
"Alright, you both did great. Come here."
Robert chuckled, knowing this wasn't a simple competition for affection. His Pokémon weren't fighting over his attention but rather enjoying his touch for a specific reason.
It all started when Robert discovered that his Evergreen Power could be used to slightly heal and rejuvenate his Pokémon. Though he could only release small amounts at a time without exhausting himself, Charmeleon and Pidgeot quickly grew fond of the warm, comforting energy that flowed from his hands. Over time, they associated his touch with this healing effect, making them crave it even more.
Understanding this, Robert didn't hold back. As he petted Charmeleon and Pidgeot, he released a bit of Evergreen Power into them, making them feel even more at ease. Though the effect wasn't drastic, it was enough to bring them a deep sense of comfort.
While petting his Pokémon, Robert mentally activated his system.
"System, open my status panel."
A familiar screen popped up in his mind.

"There are only 11 points left until Evergreen Power reaches Level 2… I can't wait." Robert clenched his fist with excitement.
Right now, his Evergreen Power was limited. Overusing it would drain his energy completely, leaving him exhausted. That's why he only used small amounts when healing Charmeleon and Pidgeot. However, once it reached Level 2, he hoped to use it more freely without tiring out so quickly.
With his status checked, Robert resumed training with Charmeleon and Pidgeot, battling wild Pokémon to earn points. By noon, he decided to take a break under the shade of a large tree.
Since he had run out of Fire- and Flying-type energy cubes, he accessed the Elf Mall to purchase more. Thankfully, the system kept food prices extremely cheap, so a week's supply of energy cubes for each Pokémon only cost 10 Pokédollars.
This meant that by defeating just one or two wild Pokémon, he could easily afford days' worth of food. If he encountered a stronger, evolved Pokémon, he could earn even more.
Without hesitation, Robert bought fresh energy cubes, ensuring Charmeleon and Pidgeot had enough for the next five days.
As their strength increased, so did their appetites. If it weren't for the system, even a rich trainer like him would struggle to keep up with their food demands.
"Alright, lunch is served."
Robert poured Fire- and Flying-type energy cubes into separate food bowls and set them in front of Charmeleon and Pidgeot, who were already waiting eagerly.
"Ah~"
"Bi~"
As soon as the bowls hit the ground, the two Pokémon immediately dug in, chomping down with enthusiasm. They ate so quickly that it almost seemed like they hadn't been fed in days.
Robert chuckled and left them to their feast while he picked his own lunch from the Elf Mall. After browsing, he settled on a meal of beef stew with potatoes and a bowl of rice.
Leaning against the tree trunk, Robert took a deep breath. The warm sunlight filtering through the leaves and the fresh scent of nature made him feel at peace.
Charmeleon and Pidgeot, now full and satisfied, lay beside him, also enjoying the calm moment after their meal.
For about half an hour, the trio simply rested, soaking in the tranquility.
Then, suddenly—
Click!
A cracking noise echoed through the quiet forest. Robert and his Pokémon immediately turned their heads toward the source of the sound.
His eyes widened in surprise.
Over near the sunlight, his Iron Shell Pupa was glowing with a brilliant white light.
"It's evolving!"
Robert quickly stood up, watching in anticipation. The light around the Iron Shell Pupa grew brighter and brighter.
After a few moments, the light faded, revealing the newly evolved Pokémon.
Standing in place of the discarded pupa shell was a Pokémon with a yellow-green body, black stripes, and piercing red eyes. A pair of sharp drill-like forearms and a poisonous needle-tipped tail completed its menacing look.
It was a Beedrill—but not just any Beedrill.
It was a shiny Beedrill!

Robert's mouth curved into a grin.
"This… This is incredible!"
Not only had his Iron Shell Pupa evolved into Beedrill, but it was a shiny variant with an extra ability—Battle Armor!
A normal Beedrill would have been strong, but with Battle Armor, it now had a major defensive advantage. No opponent would ever land a critical hit against it.
"Beedrill!"
The newly evolved Pokémon buzzed its wings and landed gracefully in front of Robert. Though it was only a few inches taller than its previous form, it now had a fierce, confident presence.
Robert knelt down and placed a hand on Beedrill's head.
"Well done, buddy. You finally evolved!"
"Bee~!"
Beedrill vibrated its wings excitedly, clearly proud of its transformation.
Charmeleon and Pidgeot also chirped in approval, acknowledging their teammate's progress.
Robert took a deep breath.
With Beedrill now evolved and stronger than ever, he was one step closer to facing the Gym Leaders and making a name for himself in the Pokémon world.
Smiling, he stood up and clenched his fist.
"Alright! Time to push forward—our next destination: Cerulean City!"
With his Pokémon by his side, Robert set off once again, ready for the challenges ahead.
