Pokémon: The Renegade Trainer

Chapter 14: Eterna forest again...

"Caww! Cawww!" (They're after the gym leader's sister!)

Flying above its trainer, Murkrow communicated. Hearing this, Maguro braced himself.

"We're not gonna stop! Keep pedaling!"

He shouted to Iizumi beside him as their enemies became visible, both mentally and physically. The brown haired trainer mused: 'They're kidnappers. Must be a conflict amongst the Eterna gym people.'

"They're advance-ranked Pokémon!" exclaimed Iizumi.

"[Teleport] us out of here!"

"Wait, shouldn't've we done that in the first place?!"

"Just follow my instructions!"

Before they could crash with the line of Pokémon and people in black, who had [Protect] at the ready, Maguro and the group vanished to thin air.

The biggest man, who looked like their leader, roared frustratingly, "There was supposed to be a Shadow tag among..."

As he turned to his left to check, the man turned pale seeing a Murkrow flying away with their Gothorita.

It couldn't use any of its [Psychic] moves as the Dark-type restrained it. Moreover, Gothorita knew it'd only die if Murkrow lost control of its flight because of it.

"Chase after Gothorita! I spent a fortune on that Pokémon!"

Meanwhile...

As the kidnappers frantically tailed Murkrow, hidden under some nearby rocks were Maguro, Gardenia and Iizumi.

"They're after the gym leader's sister. I don't know why, but it'll be stupid if we don't hurry to the nearest town."

"Wait, how'd you know that?" the child interjected.

"Through Murkrow," replied Maguro before turning to his green-haired companion, "And we wouldn't have that info if we Teleported sooner."

Iizumi nodded in affirmative, giving respect to Maguro.

"Either way, this seems to be below the bridge. We'll set camp for now and resume our journey when Murkrow comes back."

Gardenia interjected once more: "Hold on Maguro, you're saying we're just gonna sit back here while Murkrow is in danger? Aren't you worried about your Pokémon?"

"I trust Murkrow, kid. Our job is to be ready when it returns. So save your energy."

10 hours later, ???

A huge arm slammed and broke a wooden table in half. "Dang it! We failed a big mission just because of a dumb crow?!"

"I wouldn't say 'dumb crow', seeing how it outsmarted us and even escaped with our only recon member."

Emerging from a tent was a creepy guy with thick, square-rimmed glasses. He was in chains, yet that didn't bother him at all. He continued talking, "If there is one weak spot in our gang, that'd be the lack of a talented scout. Don't you agree?"

"What is your point, Kief, You filthy scumbag?"

The men in black surrounded the petite man, and the leader growled.

"I'm saying you should return my Pokémon and let me deal with these kids and give me my freedom once I catch them."

The gang laughed at the man as if he were crazy, but soon enough the leader accepted his offer.

"You must not fail me, or else. We have until tomorrow evening to catch them."

"Oh, I'll have them sooner than that." with a smile, three canine Pokémon emerged from the Pokéballs he retrieved.

The man gave the dogs a small bike, and started following the scent.

Five days ago, Valley windworks...

"Go Pokéball!" a young trainer tossed the ball to the unconscious pink Shellos before her.

Cynthia was on a roll, searching for more candidates for her dream Ground-type team. She also never slacked-off training both Gabite and Gligar.

'Gligar will be super helpful as Eterna gym specializes on Grass-types.'

She was thinking up strategies for her next challenge while walking towards Eterna forest. And because there wasn't anything in particular that interested her, Cynthia figured she should just rush to the next town.

After double checking her supplies, the young blonde walked beside her Gabite to the forest.

Everyday, Cynthia would follow her simple routine of wake up, eat, train, and set up camp. If she continued at this pace, it was possible to make it to Eterna city within a week.

The forest wasn't as dangerous as it seemed. Ursaluna was scarier.

On the third day, she met a familiar face.

"Harry, is that you?"

Cynthia unintentionally startled a boy with blonde hair who was lying low amongst the shrubs. "UWAHHH!!!"

He turned and said, "Cynthia? What're you doing here?!"

"I'm headed to Eterna city. What about you?"

Instead of replying, Harry signalled for his old schoolmate and friend to check out the Pokémon he planned to catch.

'That's a Buneary...' mused Cynthia seeing a brown rabbit munching on some berries, which was clearly a setup by the trainer beside her.

"I wanna catch that. Its a strong Buneary." Harry whispered.

"I can help you."

"Please don't. It was badly injured last time someone did that, Buneary would be dead if it weren't for the Full-restore that trainer brought with him."

"Who was this trainer?"

"A brown-haired boy wearing a super clean white jacket."

"..." Cynthia went silent. "Good luck. I'll be watching."

She recognized the person Harry was describing and changed the topic immediately.

Unknown to her, the scarfed boy blushed at the remark. He was pumped, and jumped at the unsuspecting bunny.

Two minutes later...

"You're awake. Nice try with the surprise attack by the way."

Harry's eyes awoke to a young, blonde girl that looked like an angel. Cynthia extended her hand to help her friend get up.

He was still attracted, but shame overwhelmed Harry realizing he messed up bad in front of Cynthia.

The boy accepted the help, and she began to talk once more. "I'll help you to catch that Buneary. So drop the gloomy look, alright? We're no longer children."

"B-but I--"

"I know you want to battle and catch it on your own. But it's alright to let your friends assist a little. Besides, I'll only be coaching you."

Hearing its trainer, Piplup, who fainted with him, got up.

"Don't worry, it'll be worth it." She gripped on his shoulders and said with a sinister smile.

Both Harry and Piplup instinctively swallowed a lump of saliva, realizing that this might turn out bad for them. An ominous feeling creeped in them...

Two days later, Eterna forest...

A blue penguin and a brown bunny were in a standoff, whilst a trainer with long blonde hair, sporting an all-black outfit with her Gabite smiled at the sidelines.

'I raised that boy.'

She eyed Harry, who stood calm as a lake. It only took two days, thirty hours of intense training, and more than 100 reps of tossing Pokéball. But the rookie grew a lot, not a bad investment.

"Piplup, [Pound]!" it launched itself forward hearing the command, and Buneary also jumped to meet its attack.

The two attacks collided, pushing Buneary and Piplup backwards.

Just as it seemed to be even, Buneary followed-up with [Quick Attack].

However, the trainer was ready for this. "[Brick break], Go!".

"Piplup!!"

A coated flipper fell on Buneary who was rushing in for Piplup. And this was the chance Harry was waiting for.

"Go, Pokéball!"

A light consumed the target as it was hit by the Pokéball to the head.

One shake... Two shakes... Three shakes...

And with a click, Buneary has been caught!

The scarfed trainer melted like jello. He had been pushing himself, trying to keep up with Cynthia's training plan for him. In fact, he made it even harder to impress her.

Harry was tired.

"Nice, you did well." she gave an applause. Then all of the sudden, Piplup started to glow.

It's trainer looked up, seeing his starter evolve and stood up.

"Congrats."

"Thanks."

No more words were spoken as Harry jumped on and hugged his newly evolved Prinplup. "It's a celebration!"

Cynthia smiled seeing them both. 'It's amazing how happy one can feel when people and Pokémon get together and share moments like these.'

However, their celebration was cut short after they heard a masculine scream nearby...
