Pokemon Earth’s Parallel World: Dragon Trainer

Chapter 142 – Live Broadcast Plan

Floyd began recounting his recent encounter to the group. "I defeated all the Mankeys, including their evolved form, Primeape," he narrated, detailing his experience in Ursaluna's territory.
However, he deliberately omitted any mention of the meteorites and tumblestones. Those details, he decided, were better discussed privately with Kanraku later.
As Floyd described his harrowing encounter and the defeat of the formidable Primeape, the room was filled with a sense of amazement. The notion that they had overcome a powerful Pokémon like Ursaluna was astonishing to everyone present.
Kanraku, his curiosity piqued, touched his chin thoughtfully. "What I'm wondering is, who rescued us? Was it the frog-like beasts?" he asked, seeking Floyd's insight.
Floyd, crafting his response, said, "I've taken to calling it Venusaur. It seems to be a plant-type beast, possibly with some poisonous traits. I've encountered similar creatures back in my country." This was a half-truth; Floyd knew more than he let on, but he found it necessary to fabricate part of his story for an alibi.
"Professor, I think focusing on Poison types would be beneficial," Floyd suggested, steering the conversation towards Kanraku's research interests.
Kanraku nodded in agreement. "I've already been considering that. Poison might indeed be one of the key types to focus on," he replied, acknowledging the validity of Floyd's suggestion.
Floyd then shifted the topic to the management of wild beasts. "I propose we discuss the entry of these wild creatures into the Beast's Sanctuary. It's problematic to have them in the Safe Zone," he put forth his opinion.
Kanraku, open to input from the group, asked, "What do you all think?"
Chen Yu was quick to respond. "I have no issue with it." His prompt agreement was partly to show Floyd that their group did not share on what Hu Tianyi had done and was eager to maintain peace.
"I'm on board with it as well," Kang Jihoon chimed in, readily supportive of the idea.
Linh added her agreement with a simple nod.
With the consensus from the group leaders, there were no objections. Even Hu Tianyi remained silent, not voicing any dissent.
Kanraku was about to propose a new plan, given the recent events, when Floyd interjected with a question, "Wait, professor, are you saying the expedition to the northern part is canceled?"
"Yes, I've decided to cancel it. After what we've experienced, it's clear that the risks are too high. If we encounter a situation like that again, I doubt we'd be as fortunate," Kanraku explained, shaking his head.
Floyd hesitated, processing this information, and then sighed in understanding. "I see, I get it," he conceded, recognizing the prudence in Kanraku's decision.
Kanraku gathered everyone's attention. "So, about the plan I've been considering, it actually relates to the idea of 'Trainer' that Floyd suggested. I'm envisioning a mini-tournament among us here. The villagers can be our audience, but considering their fear of beasts, I'm thinking of broadcasting it live. What do you all think about this idea?" he inquired, looking around the room for reactions.
Chen Yu, intrigued but needing more details, quickly asked, "A tournament involving all of us? But what about the settings, rules, and location?"
Kanraku explained, "The plan isn't overly complex. We need a suitable location, some cameras, and your participation. That's why I'm consulting you all – to brainstorm and refine the plan together."
Linh, curious about the underlying purpose, asked, "And what's the objective behind this tournament?"
"To showcase the charm of beasts," Kanraku replied with a nod, his enthusiasm evident.
Floyd, caught by surprise, couldn't hide his admiration. "Professor, this is quite an unexpected and innovative idea," This reminds him of the Pokémon tournaments that he used to watch in anime, though it just a fragmented and it seems a bit rough around the edges.
Kanraku, slightly embarrassed yet determined, added, "I have the concept, but I'm not sure about the execution. However, I assure you, your efforts won't go unrewarded. There will be prizes, especially for the winner."
Chen Yu took the lead in the discussion. "Let's delve into this," he said, emphasizing the importance of safety in their planning. Everyone began contributing their suggestions, each bringing their unique perspectives to the table.
Floyd, focusing on the audience's engagement, proposed several ideas. "What about an impressive opening performance before the battles begin? We could have a commentator to explain the battle situations, and we should also consider how we treat the beasts after their defeat," he suggested, his mind buzzing with possibilities.
Kanraku, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the scope of Floyd's ideas, remarked with a slight headache, "Floyd, your suggestions are excellent but maybe too grand? Implementing all of this could be time-consuming due to the manpower needed."
As the group pondered over the manpower issue, Kang Jihoon had a sudden realization. "Wait, manpower?" he exclaimed, a lightbulb moment occurring. "Can't we enlist the help of beasts for this?"
This suggestion struck a chord with Kanraku, who excitedly smacked his table. "Yes, Kang-san, you're right! We can indeed ask the beasts for assistance in this endeavor," he agreed enthusiastically.
Floyd elaborated on his idea with enthusiasm. "Yes, enlisting the beasts' help can significantly reduce our manpower needs. My suggestion to make a strong impression stems from the need to sway the villagers in favor of our Alliance plan. It's crucial that what we present captivates them; otherwise, they might lose interest," he explained.
Linh, intrigued by the idea, asked, "So, how exactly can we impress them? What's the plan?"
Ivan chimed in with a suggestion, "Why not showcase Cherrim's abilities?"
"Cherrim!" Kanraku exclaimed, standing up in excitement. "That's an excellent idea. Demonstrating Cherrim's unique skills could indeed be very captivating. I'm confident it will make a lasting impression."
Chen Yu, building on the idea, suggested, "We should start from the basics, like what Floyd did with plowing the land. It's simple yet effective."
Kang Jihoon proposed, "Maybe we could begin by clearing the tall grass to set the stage more realistically?"
Chen Yu pondered this, "But how long would it take to clear all that grass? We need to keep the audience engaged and not bored by lengthy preparations."
Floyd offered a solution, "Actually, the process can be expedited. Previously, we only had a few beasts assisting us, but this time, by involving more, especially from the beast's sanctuary, we can make quick work of it."
Chen Yu, however, raised a concern, "While that sounds efficient, it also increases the risk. We must remember they are still wild beasts. An unexpected outbreak could be dangerous."
Kanraku nodded, "That's a valid point. We'll need a well-thought-out plan to manage them effectively."
As they pondered over each suggestion, an idea sparked in Floyd's mind. He recalled the Grassy Terrain created by Venusaur. If they could somehow involve Venusaur in the event, it would add a remarkable element to their plan. But the challenge was how to reach out to Venusaur when its whereabouts were unknown.
After hours of brainstorming, the group decided to adjourn, agreeing to reconvene the next day to continue planning.
Upon leaving the meeting, Floyd encountered Hu Tianyi, standing with Squirtle at his side. The sadness on Squirtle's face was palpable.
"Now, go with him, Squirtle. From this moment, I'm no longer your owner. Do you understand? Now go," Hu Tianyi instructed, his voice cold yet tinged without a hint of regret.
