Pokémon: Chronicles of Freedom

Chapter 319: Chapter 318: Primeape's Return

Witnessing the entire series of Cain's actions firsthand, Miyamoto's eyes grew brighter. He wasn't a fool and could see that Cain was using specialized skills as a breeder to treat Pokémon.

So, could what he said before about the pill he gave also be true?

Miyamoto was feeling a great internal excitement.

However, what surprised Miyamoto the most was, could there be an advanced breeder behind Cain?

With his experience, he could recognize what Cain had given to Dodrio.

Was he an advanced breeder from Team Rocket or some other organization?

Now he was beginning to believe that what Cain said about having significant backing might be true.

In that case, would it really be a disadvantage to follow Cain?

Following those four "monsters" was just for the backing of their mentors and their growth potential.

But now, comparing them, Cain not only had potential but also a solid foundation no less than theirs.

Additionally, with the skills Cain had shown, he was at least an intermediate-level breeder, so reaching an advanced level was just a matter of time given his youth.

Looking at it this way, was Cain's potential even greater than that of those four?

A great prospect!

Miyamoto, who was already nineteen, didn't mind that Cain was younger.

Was age really an issue?

In this world, what mattered was strength. With enough strength, even at eighteen one could become an Elite Four member or even a Champion.

Cain was indeed intentionally showing off his breeder skills in front of Miyamoto, aiming to earn his loyalty more effectively.

Judging by the results, it seemed the strategy was working well.

After finishing the treatment, Cain had Arbok loosen its grip.

Cain, removing his gloves, said, "I've done what I can. Let it rest for a while, and there shouldn't be any major issues, but don't expect it to be able to fight for the next two days."

Miyamoto nodded and returned Dodrio to its Poké Ball.

His face showed resignation. He knew Dodrio wouldn't be able to fight for now, but how would he survive in the coming days? He couldn't rely solely on Cain's protection, as that would make him seem useless. Cain would have no reason to keep him and would prefer to ditch a burden immediately.

As he was thinking this, Cain tossed him a Poké Ball.

"This is your Primeape. It's a hothead. I considered killing it, but it seemed to have some value, so I let it live. Consider yourself lucky."

Miyamoto looked at the Poké Ball in his hand and, through its window, saw his Primeape inside. His face lit up with joy.

He hadn't expected that after losing three Pokémon, he would get back his trump card.

If he had to choose, he probably would've done the same.

Not a bad deal!

He immediately called out his Primeape.

As soon as it emerged, Primeape wanted to attack Cain.

Seeing this, Slowpoke and Murkrow quickly approached Cain, while Arbok, who had just retreated, raised its head and looked coldly at Miyamoto and his Primeape.

If they made even the slightest move, Cain's three Pokémon would attack immediately.

"Primeape, don't be impulsive. From now on, he's one of us. Show respect to Mr. Cain," said Miyamoto quickly, stopping his hot-tempered Primeape.

Miyamoto had already started to change how he addressed Cain.

Primeape looked at his trainer with curiosity and then at Cain, as if asking, "Really?"

Miyamoto had no choice but to nod to confirm again.

Reluctantly, Primeape scratched its head and sheepishly bowed to Cain, forgetting entirely about the previous fight with Cain's Pokémon.

Cain, watching the scene, couldn't help but laugh.

Particularly, Slowpoke, at his side, rolled its eyes.

Another big fool, just like those two Ursaring from before.

However, now that Miyamoto had his Primeape back, he felt more confident. His trump card was back.

Although he had invested a lot of time and resources into training his other Pokémon, none compared to this Primeape.

He had put much more effort into it than any other.

As for other Pokémon, there were plenty on the trial island; he would simply capture some more.

Although he wouldn't have time to build rapport or battle styles, he didn't need them to do much. Just to distract the opponent's Pokémon.

"Thank you, sir." Miyamoto, however, didn't let his excitement over getting Primeape back go to his head.

After a moment of joy, he quickly thanked Cain. Now, he wasn't only under Cain's protection; his very life was in Cain's hands.

It was better to behave obediently.

At the very least, returning Primeape showed that Cain had plenty of character. He didn't fear betrayal or disobedience.

He had certain leadership qualities.

"Get ready; we'll be leaving soon. Let's see if we can find someone else," Cain said.

Miyamoto immediately nodded, taking Primeape to the river to wash up.

Meanwhile, Cain took out the four belts from the Team Rocket members and the four score devices he had obtained earlier.

First, he transferred all the points from the four men's devices to his own. Nakashima was ranked eighth in the last trial, so his device had five points. However, it seemed he'd been lucky in obtaining additional score cards or in stealing points from others, as his device showed a total of eight points.

The other three were ranked between 20th and 50th, and each had two points.

After transferring all the points to his device, Cain now had a total of seventeen points, which wasn't bad at all.

When Miyamoto returned, he saw Cain transferring points. After a moment of thought, he took out his own scoring device, which showed ten points.

Viper had great respect for them, and each of their devices started with ten points, equivalent to the top three on the trial island.

Cain looked at his device and waved his hand. "Keep them. In the future, from any points we obtain, I'll take 80% and you 20%. Now that you're under my orders, I can't let your ranking be too low at the end of the trial."

"Understood." Miyamoto hesitated for a moment before responding.

Then, Cain took everything out of the four storage belts.

After all, these were people who had survived on the trial island for three months, but they didn't have many useful items. Most of them traded any valuable items they obtained for things that boosted their combat ability.

"Take a look to see if there's anything useful for you, and make sure to clean up this area," Cain said to Miyamoto as he took some daily-use items.
