In the bank lobby, Ethan was finalizing his loan application with the branch manager. And after a thorough review, his request was ready for approval.

"Mr. Grave, with your excellent credit and collateral, we'll have the 8 million deposited within two business days once you sign," the bank manager, Mr. Henry, informed him, handing over the contract.

Ethan signed his name across several lines.

"Pleasure doing business with you, Mr. Grave. Just remember, timely repayments will help maintain your credit," Henry advised with a friendly smile.

"Of course," Ethan replied. "By the way, if a smaller company wanted a loan, how much would the bank generally approve?"

Ethan wasn't overly concerned about loans; he saw them as a stepping stone. With Pokémon Biotechnology on the rise, he was confident that funding would soon flow easily.

"It varies," Manager Henry responded, "We'd need a full business assessment. For instance, if you'd like to use your company as collateral, we'd send someone over to review."

"Sure, then list the company as Pokémon Biotechnology."

Mr. Henry's face stiffened slightly. "Ah, actually, we've hit our loan quota this month," he replied with a forced smile. "If you're still interested in a company-based loan, another branch might be able to assist."

Recognizing Henry's hesitation, Ethan noted the subtle change in his tone. "Understood," he replied, unfazed. He knew that after the upcoming expo, securing larger funds would be much easier.

That evening, the funds were deposited ahead of schedule. Ethan immediately set his sights on expanding the lab's capacity.

His first objective was the expansion of Lab No. 2, focusing on installing additional cultivation tanks. Each medium sized tank costs $50,000, with an additional $4,000 required for the solution liquid.

It was a substantial investment, but Ethan saw it as the backbone of Pokémon Biotechnology's future. Bulk orders and supplier agreements could reduce costs significantly, but long term, Ethan envisioned a self-sustained supply chain that would redefine affordability in the pet industry.

"James," Ethan called, approaching James Hunt, the lab's lead breeder. "How many more tanks can we realistically fit in here?"

James looked up from his workstation, taking a moment to assess the space. "With the current layout? Twenty, maybe thirty at most. Any more, and we'll risk overloading the lab's power grid."

"Then start with twenty," Ethan replied, nodding decisively. "This is just the beginning. Once we've generated more revenue, I'll build a larger facility. Eventually, even a hundred tanks won't be enough for what I have in mind."

James's eyes widened slightly, his enthusiasm shining through. "Understood, Mr. Grave. This expansion will make a huge difference, especially with the upcoming Pichu presentation at the expo."

Ethan smiled. "Exactly. And when we do grow, I would want you as the lab's supervisor. You've earned this position."

James flushed, his gratitude evident. "Thank you, Mr. Grave. That means a lot."

Ethan waved off the thanks. "If anything, I owe you. You've stood by me through thick and thin. Once we stabilize financially, the entire team will see raises."

James nodded, his voice thick with emotion. "We'll get there, sir. I know we will."

Ethan turned his focus to the lab's system interface, where two unused Pokémon designs awaited activation. The funds had given him the breathing room he needed to finalize these new creations.

"I'll breed 50 new Pichu gene seeds into the cultivation tanks," Ethan announced. "The remaining 50 tanks will house two entirely new species I've been working on."

James blinked in astonishment. "Two new species? Already? That's incredible."

Ethan chuckled. "Ambition and drive, James. That's how we'll succeed."

James stared, momentarily speechless. "Most biodesigners take months, sometimes even years to develop a single species. How do you manage it so quickly?"

Ethan's smirk widened. "Let's just say I have my methods."
